View Full Version : Drew Carey on John Elway

They had a small Q+A with Drew Carey in the new Sports Illustrated and it was pretty funny. Here are a couple choice excerpts:

SI: Growing up in Cleveland, which opposing athlete did you hate the most?

Carey: John Elway and Terry Bradshaw. Notice how much thought I had to put into that.

SI: Ever get the chance to share that with either of them?

Carey: I had to meet John Elway for a TV commercial we were doing together. Just shaking his hand was ugh. I used to think about him dying in a car crash. Honestly. And so I'm shaking his hand going, "Hey, hi, nice to meet you, John." But he ended up being a nice guy, which was even worse. He knows everybody in Cleveland hates him. He just laughs about it.

LOL Drew has a good sense of humor, and every Browns fan wishes that Elway died in a car crash.

Yep, the NFL scheduling of rotating divisions, 2 years ago we play Cleveland at Denver, last year we played NFC and AFC South and this year we play AFC and NFC East, our schedule should be against AFC and NFC North next year and since we played at Denver, this time it will be at Cleveland.

In theory it's supposed to rotate now, but the Colts are going to New England for the second year in a row this season....not sure what the deal is with that, but I guess a true home/away rotation isn't necessarily guaranteed.

Might be because of the division rotation compared to the 1st place schedule, last division rotation was in Indy along with the last time they met up as common opponents, so now both division and 1st place schedule switches to NE.

I checked future schedules, Cleveland hosts us next year.

Drew Carey is Rossane Barr in Drag.

It's unbelievably stupid. I can't stomache one episode.

First off, they have some fat 600 hunded pound hefer running around in drag, then they abuse the guy. He lives is a freaking cubicle.

Life in hell would be more amusing. I would blow my brains out rather than like in that piehole.

The most amusing thing about the show to me is that he knows he can't get a job anywhere else because he's a complete and totall moron. Women love the show. They get to mentally beat on fat men. It's the most dysfunctional sitcom ever made.

He has a decent time taking it, but you always wonder when he is going to go postal.

It wouldn't be so bad except for the blue eye shadow...that is SO 1970s, especially that electric shade he wears...

He doesn't have the legs for a dress, either.

Do we even need a Drew Carey thread? The whole sitcom is disgusting and stupid, meant for mass consumption. It's not even watchable. It's been on 10 years or something and I have watched 10 minutes.

He walks into his cubicle, a hog insults him, his own hog fires back...on it goes...

it's never really explained what these idiots do!

Maybe someone can fill me in on the intracies of this sitcom, but I always found it revulsive and pandering.

It is worse than Home Improvement, whose only redeeming factor was an obese idiot giving the moron advice.

With any luck, we might get them in September and they will be wearing those black uniforms that management thought was such a brilliant idea....I see the Cards as a team to not look past, much like the Bengals are now.

I can't hate any one player from the Niners that beat the Broncos 55-10. They were just a much better team.

But with the Browns/Broncos they were pretty much even, I would say that the Browns might have been a slightly better team. In a game where the teams are even except for one guy who could make the difference had to be madding for Browns fans.

That's so funny. Poor Brown fans. How many times have we played them and beat them with a late fourth quarter rally and then win in overtime? I know last time we played them it came out that way.

They lost 23-20 in overtime. By a late game rally by another Denver QB. Too funny.

Forget Drew Carey.

The second most pathetic show has to be Home Improvement.

The guy tries to saw his leg off every week, has some fat clown help him he insults on a show that wouldn't exist exept on PBS, and God is over the fence in the form of a Fat Man in Overalls.

Here is what is amazing about that show. If you actually notice, nothing is actually wrong with the house whatsoever. Now, I lived thru Green Acres, but that wasn't a comedy, that was a battle.

How that is a comedy leader is beyond me.

It's amusing because it's so damn stupid.

Of course, the central joke of this thread turned out to be Mock's inability to understand what it was about: another tribute to the great John Elway.

Do you think anybody else besides Whataschmuck interpreted it any other way?

Its fascinating how his tiny chimplike brain consistently fixates on some trivial bit of minutiae, while ignoring the larger context of any given statement.

I couldn't tell you who was on the Drew Carey show unless it was called the Drew Carey show.

I thought it was "Fat People from Cubicles goofing off at the Water Cooler"

I'm not sure exactly what these people are imitating as actual work. Does that show even have a clue what they do? The rare times my remote is out of reach and it comes on, I have never seen anyone do a lick of work. It's a fat guy and some hideous female beast trading insults. I don't get it.

How many really good network sitcoms have their been in the last ten years?

I would say Seinfeld, now seven years gone, was about the only one. Reality shows are much cheaper to produce and FOX, in particular, seems determined to plumb the furthest depths of the lowest common denominator.

I think I've seen Mock giggling over the witless banter from That 70s Show on numerous occasions. Until recently, I thought the only people watching that dreck were 14 year old with crushes on Ashton Kutcher. Turns out there's a fair percentage of people who enjoy mindless stereotypes and predictable dialogue goosing the T70S Neilsens ratings. A clear cut victory for the unwashed masses in that one, dear friends.

I always kind of figured Mock liked it because he looks like the old man on the show.
