I guess I'll just post this here, since most of you seem to care about what Im up to.

Hey guys, Im just checking in for the short period of time that we will be in our homeport of Jacksonville, Florida before we head back out. Our next evolution will be Fleet Week... again, only this time we will be touring western Europe. But I've made the best of this port visit so far.... getting tickets already to the Jaguars vs. Broncos game @ Alltell on Oct 2nd. I'll be sure to cause a bit of a problem in the name of the Mane.

This years fleet week started in Jacksonville Florida where we pulled out May 16th... for Boston, then New York, then Virginia Beack, Virgina (the biggest Navy town in the world).

We spent four days in Boston. I loved this city. I have been to almost every big city in the US, and this is the only one I've found that would rival Denver in places I would like to live. Durring those four days, we roamed the streets, saw the USS Constitution among other things.

Boston was great, the seafood there was amazing, especially at these fancy restraunts that practacally paid for us to go there. The highlight here was definitley my duty day, where I followed to Captain to photograph him in a press box at Fenway Park durring the Red Sox / Braves game.

It only got better in New York.

New York city was AMAZING. Especially being there in our dress whites. I mean, we partied every night... we really did 'do' the city and hardly spent a dime. The main thing was the restaraunts, the clubs and the girls. Everybody was ready to help a sailor. We hooked up with some Britts for wine in Central park.... we did community projects up in the Bronx... ate some really good food in even nicer settings... really saw the city. We were VIPs at the China Club in Times Square - and they were turning away a lot of people.

People were very nice to sailors there. We hooked up with so many girls it was ridiculous... girls that I wouldnt even dream of talking to if I werent in uniform.

We went to Wall Street, and one of our officers actually rang the bell.

I met Ted Kennedy in Boston... and Donald Rumsfeld, The Mayor of NY, Joe Pantoliano, and Christina Appelgate.

I could go into detail about everything.... but no one cares.

On June 17th we set sail for London.

Is MightySmurf in the Navy or something? I don't know why, but I just have this hunch that that's the case.

As modest as he is, though, we'll probably never know for sure.

Good to hear from you, dude! Glad you enjoyed Boston - it truly is a world class city.

The Constitution is kinda cool, huh? It's the oldest commisioned Navy vessel (meaning, it still is), but you probably knew that.

I live in Hanover.....one of our claims to fame is that the Constitution's anchor was made here. It's on our town seal: :)

Yes. In the navy you can sail the 7 seas. In the navy you can put your mind at ease.

Never heard of Jimmy Mag's, but then again I don't get in there too often. I've been to Tia's many times. It's one of the best summer spots in Boston at night....right next to the Marriot Long Wharf hotel.

Gotta love the ocean.

Yeah, that was it... right next to the Marriot. That place was phenomenal.

The Wine. The coconut shrimp. The Lobster. The Crabcakes... plus they gave a ridiculous discout to sailors.

They grow up so fast, from wanting a Sports Illustrated Bikini issue to knowing to hide your billfold from a hooker.

Go bomb something and make yourself presentable Smurf. It's not really important what it is to me...just bomb the hell out of somthing like I would.

Say hello to our little friends, and take care of your own.

God Speed.

Sounds like the military life is...ahem...your cup of tea Smurf

(Sorry...just came to me)

Had a bud in the Navy during the Viet Nam era. Even though he was drafted, he loved the Navy & served two tours before going to college...fully paid for by the (then) GI Bill.

Loved all the port calls & all that

Regardless of your reasons...thanks

Nice to hear from you, MightySmurf.

I'm taking some college classes and then joining the Air Force/Navy. I'm not sure yet, When i'm out of school i'll look more into it. I'm just trying to focus. I have like 8 weeks left. I wish the classes would end asap. I wanna get into the military and get out of this house.

Some of the girls are cute though.

Good to hear all is well Smurf. Yep, plenty of women out there who love a man in uniform. Have fun with it. Good luck.

Yes, he's protecting your rich ass. Kinda scary, huh? Freedom ain't free. Smurf may die for your freedom.
