View Full Version : No Fullback for 2005 either?

Denver is going into this year just like it did last year. MA, Kyle Johnson, Patrick Hape and a Kris Briggs hold the current roster spots. Looks like alot of one back sets or no one behind Plummer this year. I still think a good lead blocker is a necessity for a consistant running game. Especially in the red zone. What do you all think?

Kyle Johnson is a real FB. Not bad either. But certainly nothing near Ho Griff.

Sapp is moving to fullback. Maybe he will finally be willing to block. He never had to at CSU. Kyle Johnson is pretty good.

Bottom line is fullbacks are a rather dying breed. With our nintendo offense, we will probably have 4 WR's in there more than use a fullback.

I don't agree with it, but it's just a stone cold fact, some teams don't even carry a FB.

I dunno if Sapp can make the team again unless he's improved his blocking and recieving skills, it's a pretty crowded backfield.

Mock sees it boiling down to:

Clarett
Q
Kyle Johnson
Sapp
Anderson or Dayne, I can't call it for now.

I think Kyle Johnson should change his name to Rodney Dangerfield.. he gets no respect... IMO he is a highly underrated lead blocker. Hopefully this year he can make a name for himself and silence "we need a real fullback" crowd.

I totally agree. I think Kyle Johnson is a good full back, more then adequate. With a little more expierence he'll be even that much better. I look for big things from him this year.

Optimally, you would want someone a little shorter so the RB can have a little better vision, but I agree. I kinda paid attention to him, and he's much much better than Anderson. I didn't see any glaring mistakes from him at all. He's not very explosive, but he gets off the snap with good timing...he's just alot bigger than Droughns.

Droughns had better vision and was a better reciever, but certainly was undersized.

I dunno if Mike Anderson will make it this year.

I think I'm starting to feel that way to, I just wish the guy had some sort of trade value. Maybe he can make a showing in preseason, the a feature back on some other team can go down, and they we'll have some trade bait. That would be the best case senario.

Just give him some time

I like Johnson. He looks like he has great potential and it will be fun to watch him try to reach it...in the FB position.
Plus, he's got that really cool endzone dance of his. What's not to love?

Assuming he takes a pay cut, there's no way that Sapp's roster spot is more secure than his. I can't believe your mancrush for the guy is still going strong.

Gotta agree that Sapp is the odd man out.

I like KJ as a fullback. I thought he did a respectable job blocking and he's got good hands. I'm not disappointed at all that they didn't sign another fullback since Anderson can back up KJ at fullback.

On my madden team he was the top vote getter in the Probowl....even more than Tatum Bell, Jake Plummer, Watts, Lelie, Rod Smith, Lepsis, Pope(Has the sack record Gm & Season), Lynch, Mauck, Luke, Wilson, Williams, Spragan, Pryce, Ellis, Alexander, Bailey, Walls, or Herndon.

Well, at least he's starting to get a little respect. :)
