Intresting, wonder whats going to happen to Fred Taylor?

Wow. Good acquisition. Guess they are not that confident that Greg Jones will return to 2002 form either.

It just says they're talking, so don't book it yet.

Alexander is going to want to get paid. He outproduced the highest paid RB in the NFL by quite a stretch, so I'm sure he's looking for a healthy raise.

Jones was moved to FB last season.

The Walrus and Ray Rhodes were made for each other.

Alexander is a fine back, back in 2000.

Alexander had 1696 yards, 4.8 yards per carry and 16 TD's last season. I'd say he's pretty good right now.

I just did some research, it looks as if this kid is very intriguing:

I don't remember him back in college, but he sounds impressive.

Seabags are absolutely frickin NUTS if they want Maurice Morris to take the starting job. Dude was decent here, and played at either Oregon, or Oregon St. I believe. Nowhere near Shaun Alexander's ability, but they do have a very good run blocking line.

Alexander for a 3rd would be a STEAL. Jags are stupid to have not pulled the trigger if this is true.

Here's a deal that quietly has been discussed, hasn't come to fruition, but should: The Jaguars should trade a third-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for Pro Bowl running back Shaun Alexander, a deal that makes sense for both sides. The Jaguars would get the insurance they need for Fred Taylor, as well a draw who is wildly popular in Alabama and would help boost attendance in Jacksonville, at a relatively modest cost. The Seahawks would get back a third-round pick in addition to salary-cap relief they need and want for a player who has vowed not to sign the tender that Seattle has given him. Makes great sense. Now it's up to both teams to make it happen. Problem is, the Jaguars -- not the Seahawks -- have balked at it. Right now, they're not willing to pay the Seahawks or Alexander.

I had no clue he was going for a 3rd.

I pull that trigger for Denver. He probably wants 5 million per tho.

Seattle could take that third and trade it for Travis Henry.

Buffalo's been insistent on a 1st rounder, or they're holding onto him. Unlike Alexander, he's still under contract this season.

But then he is going to want to get paid, if not this year, next. Eventually the same problem, but a less talented back.

That would be a bargin. I'm sure he wants more money than what Portis got.

Denver has too many good backs already. They're gonna have to release Sapp, Anderson, Clarett, Griffin, Johnson, or Dayne. Gonna be interesting how it plays out.

Wow. Mo Morris is a very capable runner... in a backup role. You are right, he is tough to gauge as a full time player. But, considering how much he ran the rock late in the season the past few years, I could see how their management would put faith in him.

Up until last year Alexander was know as a talented and an inconsistent player. He picked it up in his contract year but I'm not sold on him. He'll get his 1,200 yards but is he worth Portis type money??? I doubt it.

He's worth it IMO. At least, to a team who is willing to chuck him the rock 25 carries per game and 2 out of 3 goalline touches every time they are in the red zone. He can be a very productive workhorse, even more so than most of the rest of the top 10 backs in the league.

I'd put him in the top 4-5 backs out there, ahead of Portis, but only because of his size/speed

I don't know why Jacksonville would pay that much money for a running back that is only 1 1/2 years younger than Fred Taylor. Shaun Alexander has been blessed with running behind Walter Jones, and Hutchinson on the extremely talented left side of Seattle's line.

Even with their spendfest, I think the Jags have plenty of cap room.

Wouldn't that be the issue in Seattle...more so than Alexander's pissing & moaning?

Who knows, maybe they (Seattle) found a Terrell Davis hidden away in some late round draft pick or something.

Jacksonville is going to be a very interesting team this year...and very dangerous.

He probably could have had 20+ touchdowns, but Holmgren stubbornly throws the ball a lot in the red zone.

Does nobody else feel that something isn't quite right with this wording? So you're going to have to pay a guy top 5 RB money to act as insurance for your starter? I think Shefter is a little off here. There's no way you can keep both these guys on the roster IMO.

If the Jags are the ones balking, it's because they haven't found a team willing to take Fred Taylor. It's certainly not because of the measly 3rd round compensation they'd be giving up for Alexander. That's a steal in my book.

For whatever reason, I just can't see this deal going down like this. Nothing about it feels right.

Mike Holmgren has coached as poorly as anyone I've seen over the last several years. This move would be par for course, for him. How are you going to trade one of the best backs in the league.... and the centerpiece of your offense for a 3rd round pick?

What a complete jackass.

Yeah I know that Jesse Lumsden is Canadian, but the guy can run the football and has been the premiere player in CIS football for the past several years. He had a private workout session in Toronto where 6 different NFL teams had reps there checking him out. He can run a 4.46/40.

Realistically, he is a longshot. But then again if he pans out, he could be classified as a Terrell Davis type of find.

Because Alexander is far from happy with his Seattle situation... THANKS to Holmgrens idiotic coaching.

The man knows RBs.

I mean, didn't he trade Ahman Green to GB for a handful of magic beans?
