DENVER -- Colorado Rockies rookie sensation Clint Barmes will miss at least three months after breaking his left clavicle in a fall at home, the team said Monday.
Barmes, 26, the team's starting shortstop, will undergo surgery Tuesday. He fell Sunday night while carrying groceries up a flight of stairs.
Barmes was leading National League rookies in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.329), runs (40), hits (74), doubles (16), home runs (8) and RBIs (34).
He was seventh overall in the league in batting average, tied for fourth in hits and tied for fifth in runs scored.
