ALEXANDER RELEASED: The Broncos have placed guard P.J. Alexander on waivers, only two weeks after he injured his left knee while riding a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle.

Alexander, expected to compete for the right guard spot, tore his left anterior cruciate ligament after he awkwardly put down his foot because he feared the ATV would tip.

The Broncos listed Alexander as having failed his physical. A player ordinarily cannot be released while recovering from an injury without the team making a financial settlement, but Alexander was injured off the field in what the league classifies as a "nonfootball injury."

He was signed through this season for $385,000.

Setting the tone early for the higher paid players... they likely wouldn't have done this to a more prominent (read high dollar) player, but doing this now should get those other guys to think.

You think they'd take this same line if it was Lelie or Plummer? This is just a case of a guy not understanding his value to the organization. A freak deal, but that's how it goes.

Did same to Jeff Lewis. Traded his lame ass to carolina actually. That was really stupid cause the team showed some enthusiasm for Alexander down the line.

When the coach just had a meeting to discuss the effects of stupidity and and you turn around and do something stupid, prepare to be called out. Since it'll be awhile before PJ can play...welcome to the real world. Don't worry, with a little luck, and that valuable college degree, you'll have that $385,000 back (before taxes) in about 10-12 years.

Given that their roster is full they probably wanted to make space to sign more OL help.

Yeah, Jeff Lewis is tearing up the NFL now.

Why would we waste time on some idiot that was hardly making the roster.

cut line.

Rule number one when riding an ATV is to NOT PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN.

IT'S NOT A MOTORCYCLE.

I remember my son popping wheelies on the modified Yamaha three wheeler and literally shaking. I guess my mom went thru the same thing. He almost flipped it....He's still alive somehow....

We also don't know how badly twisted up his knee was. From what I read, he planted his foot to stop his ATV... I can only imagine that if he tore his ACL, he got off easily. Probably tore more then one ligament and cartilage to boot. He is probably looking at a two year recovery process in those cases.

Definitely not . These guys have to play football for ten years and it is to much. They cant go through it with out risking their lives in some way and now someone will step up and take his place.

The Broncos couldn't so this with the big money players because of the cap hit they'd take.

This guy is a moron. Plain and simple. He had $385,000 on the way and he goes off and risks himself. I could kind of understand a guy with a big bonus, even though it would still be dumb. Those guys have the money already in the bank, and they'll be able to make their return. This guy might not get another chance. His career could be over.

To tell you the truth, I really dont care. There are hundreds of linemen waiting in the wing to fill his shoes. One goes down another comes up. Great move PJ you genius.
