so, with the Injury God waiting in the wings for his annual offerings, which MUST be paid, which injuries would MOST decimate our Broncos hopes this year?
My guess: Plummer; Pryce; Bailey; Lepsis and the ever present Hape.
Thoughts? :undecided

Bell?! Yeah, Denver with a new starting RB like Ron Dayne, Mike Anderson, Quentin Griffin or MoC would be screwd... how could we run the ball without a guy like Gary, Portis or Bell?

Plummer, Smith, Bailey, Lepsis (not so much that Matt is that good, rather that the dropoff from him to the next guy in line at LT, assuming its not Foster, is pretty steep).

Clabo's been playing good... granted its NFLE competition but he can still hit someone... I think if Lepsis goes down we trade a 5/6th rounder for someones back-up

Thats right i forgot about him. He is doing very well at LT in Europe but the Broncos had him last summer as an offensive guard. It is a bit puzzling why he is playing OT in Europe although perhaps the organization's "plan" (we really need a smilie for that word) was that since Lepsis recent contract restructure makes him a FA last year, they would try Clabo out at OT in Europe and pick up another guard, which is what they did. Clabo is dominating at LT in Europe but that is a far cry from being a dependable blind side protector in the NFL going up against the league's best edge guys week to week, esp. for a guy who did not make the final roster on the last cutdown date last year. I like Tyson though. But it would be a huge jump. Foster is a great athlete for a big guy and i think after this year they will put him on the left side to utilize his quick feet. We had to get him acclimated to blocking on the NFL level these last two years at the less risky right side first though. Shanny has done a good job infusing youth on our line. We are still pretty athletic and very smart as usual for Bronco linemen but we have gotten a little bigger as well. Foster is a good athlete as mentioned earlier and also has good size and strength. Even guys like Sewell and Myers, who are both quick learners and smart players are either right at 300 or a bit above 300, as is Clabo i think. Only Hamilton is in that 285-290 range that we have been accustomed to for a long time.

Youre treating our O-line too much like another team. Zone blocking the positions are fairly interchangeable, only the occasional pull and trap seperates. Also, I think Lepsis will be around for another year or two, despite it being a contract year.
Off topic, I expect big things from Middlebrooks this season

If Clabo could show the coaches that he can translate his great NFLE play to the big leagues at the OT position, combined with Foster's improvement, we would not necessarily have to jump at OT in the draft next year even though it is a very rich draft talent wise at OT right at the top, with perhaps 3 or 4 first rounders. Next year's draft is where, God willing, we will make the jump up to the elite ranks in the league. We wont have that damn odd numbered year curse and the talent pool is pretty good. Two firsts, a second, likely two thirds (compensatory for Kennedy, Hayward..maybe more than a single comp. third as was the case this year, hell imagine then, three thirds!!!), two fourths, a fifth and a sixth. Thats like 8 picks in the first 130 selections!

Okay....that makes sense. Foster to the left side after this year when Lepsis departs. It makes alot of sense, get George's feet wet for 2 seasons before putting him on the left side, no throwing the guy into the fire or anything. Very good. He has quick feet and is a beast. Damn if Clabo can start at RT in 2006, we could go another direction in round 1. First, get me Rodrique Wright, we have to get him at DT and then with the Broncos pick, we pretty much can do whatever we want. Depending on how much/little Browner and LeSueur progress at safety, a FS might be an option like USC's Darnell Bing.

is he also a FS like Josh? You gotta keep us updated on which bugeaters are balling next year, DB. Ill try and watch that QB Taylor when i can see NU games.
Maybe we can meet in the Rose Bowl again, and yes, dont worry, we will call off the dogs in the second half....again.

Seriously, keep us updated on NFL caliber prospects because Callahan and Jay Norvell are good recruiters and they are starting to get talented players. Maybe in a few years we can get Ndamakong Suh, i really wanted that DT last year.

The recruiter that made our year was Black...I think thats him. The former OU coach. Anyways Daniel had like 5 picks last year I believe and others think that he is better then his twin brother Josh. I can't wait to see Taylor either. From what my brother and friend say he has a big time arm and he isn't affraid to make a throw. I don't think NU will play UM in football anytime soon but if your really lucky maybe we can play in the CWS.

From a rival standpoint:
Bailey (who had probably the worst year of his carrer last year), Rod Smith (amazing hands and team leader), Jerry Rice (slow as dirt now, but 100% gay-ron-teed to catch anything thrown his way, as well as leadership), and your LT.
Jake Plummer is no different than a Karry Collins, Drew Bledsoe, or Jeff George: if he has the time to look at the entire field without pressure (and by pressure, I mean pass rush) he can pick you apart. And just like those other names, if rushed and pressured he makes stupid mistakes that negate his physical ability.
The one thing I most feared in the offseason was Shanny finally deciding to revamp the offensive line. The difference between Plummer with a solid offensive line and Plummer without one is worlds apart...

Exactly.
See also: Trent Green in St. Louis VS. Trent Green in KC...
With time, Green is able to dismantle the best defense. Unlike Plummer, Green operates on 1/2 the talent and leans more on his smarts and knowledge of the offense. As well as a probably a top 3 NFL offensive that is almost invulnerable to injury.
Of course, that never lasts...
