There might already be a post on this but if not...
Rice was just on and talked about how he knows he is gonna have to earn his spot and thats part of the reason he chose the broncos. He also said #80 was Smith's number. He also had a meesage to denver fans and said he was gonna try and help us get back to the superbowl.

yeah i posted about it on the other Rice thread... but here is MY recap again for those that are too lazy to look it up.
Well he basically said that ahhh.. he still enjoys the game and ahhh... his legacy won't be tarnished.. and ahh.. he respects Rod Smith so he won't try to ahh... fight Rod for #80 and.. he ahhh.. shot a 78 on a par 72 golf course.
Hopefully that summary spares some of you guys the pain of sitting through that damn interview... He also cut his hair off.. finally.. I don't know if he did that last year or not.. but this is the first time I have seen him without his Mohican-like hair cut in a while.

If that is TRULY his attitude, then how can this be a bad move for Denver? I worry about him making demands because of his stature. If he is in this thing to work hard, earn his keep, and win -- what else could we ask for? His attitude could be contagious for guys like Warren!

I agree. I think it's hilarious the amount of bad press we receive around the league and from various 'news' outlets. I, for one, could not have predicted a better offseason. I mean, what do people expect? We've got cap issues worse than a lot of other teams, but we still MOVE in the off-season and try to improve. We'll show those ****ers what an Island of Misfit Toys can do. 13-3, mark my words.

I think this is stupid becuse the NFl Dbs are getting the shaft all the time and it sucks.
I don't think Rice is in a position to make demands, and I think most everyone (Broncos FO and Rice) know this as well. He's 42, still wants to play, but you know he doesn't want to play out his last years on loosing teams. Tampa Bay? Guaranteed of no better than 9-9 with no playoff appearance. Now here with us he comes to a WCO, with the head coach being one of his old 49er's coaches from his "Glory Days". Its obviously an appealing situation for Rice, and because of that he'll be on his best behavior.
I think thats going to get us the best Rice has to offer too. If Rice is the self centered person he's often described as there's no way he'll let himself get beat out. If there's anything left in the tank he'll give it to us looking for that last hurrah to end on, if there isn't well, he gets cut, as simple as that.

we sure do have a lot of big name players on our team...
Jerry Rice, John Lynch, Champ Bailey, Rod Smith, Jake Plummer, Maurice Clarett... definately an interesting cast of characters.

Hey Rice sounded great on the clip. He knew just how to address the Denver fans saying that he was going to give 100% and really looked forward to helping the younger WR benefit from his experience and support and help us win another SB.
I think this can only be a plus. Besides if we do det a few WR injhires hes not a bad guy to have filling in a back up slot.
Plus, everytime he goes downfield the D will have to account for him, particaurly in the red zone as he has the skill and know how to sit on it and thread the seam.
It will be wild seeing him in a Bronco Uni.

He says as he mulled the 31 other NFL contract offers that guaranteed him a roster spot. ROFL!
