OK, still offseason, this should be interesting. Songs have a tendency to bring back many memories, where you were when you heard it, who you were with, what you were doing. Or, sometimes a significant event happens and there was a song playing and you always remember that event when you hear that song from that point forward.

Well, I was jamming, as I am prone to do when I get high, and I threw on the Bob Segar and the song "Someday Lady You'll Accompany Me" came on and it occurred to me that this song brings back more great memories than any other song I can think of. That song, more than any other, reminds me of Denver. Thats where I was living, in Thornton on East 99th Way. I went to Bertha Hyde elementary but I specifically remember a snowy day on the way to school and my dad jamming this song loud as hell ploppin on down the road in his old '78 beat up ford pickup that he sideswiped a couple of years later on a telephone pole on his way to the airport to go to Vegas for a guys night out. Anyway, what makes that memory so good is that my dad never took me to school, he always had to leave work way earlier than I went to school but it was a snow day and they dont do construction on those days. He had made me breakfast that morning and then took me to school and we were jamming.

Anyway, you dont have to necessarily share your memory, just the song or songs that bring back your best memories.

Nine Inch Nails' "Closer".

That was the song that was on the first time I sealed the deal with a chick. What makes it an even sweeter memory is that she was far out of my league, and she wasn't even drunk or anything like that.

Back in the Day by Amaad. It came out in '94. It was about growing up in black areas during the '80s.

I don't know if I would classify it as a "FAVORITE" memory, but I do remember getting in the car after the last final of my high school career. "The Longest Time" by Billy Joel was playing on the radio. I enjoyed listening to that song more than I ever did before, since I was finally finished with high school...

"Lady in Red" always conjures up images of my ex-wife at her best just before a New Years party.

Can't escape that image any time I hear the song.

Bad Moon Rising by CCR....

I was working as a ski-ins at Kirkwood and my car broke down on the way to Tahoe. The VW van that picked me up....was blasting that song when they stopped to give me a lift..and offered me my first mushroom or three.

Skiing that day was....fun.

Good times. I always think about that day when I hear that song.

I guess my story is similar to Alec's.

Song: Soolaimon
1970 Publisher: Prophet Music
Reg. Date: 04/01/70
Singer: Neil Diamond

Back in Denver my mom would drive me to school in her little Chevette. It was a piece of crap but it had a decent little stereo. One song that comes to my mind was "Soolaimon". Me and her use to "Rock" out to that tune and pretty much any other Neil Diamond tune. She passed away a few years ago but I treasure those fond memories that songs can bring out.

Come she come say,
Ride on the night,
Sun become day,-
Day shall provide

Soo, Soolaimon
Soolai, Soolai, Soolaimon
Soo, Soolaimon
Soolai, Soolai, Soolaimon
Soo, Soolaimon
Soolai Soolai Soolaimon
Soo Soolaimon
Soolai, Soolai, Soolaimon

God of my want, want, want.
Lord of my need, need, need,
Leading me on, on on,
On to the woman she dance for the sun.
God of my day, day, day,
God of my night, night, night,
Seek for the way, way, way.
Taking me home.
She callin'.

Bring home my name,
On the wings of a flea,
Wind in the plain
Dance once for me.

Soo, Soolaimon
Soolai, Soolai, Soolaimon
Soo, Soolaimon
Soolai, Soolai, Soolaimon
Soo, Soolaimon
Soolai Soolai Soolaimon
Soo Soolaimon
Soolai, Soolai, Soolaimon

God of my want, want, want,
Lord of my need, need, need,
Leading me on, on, on,
On to the woman she dance for the sun,
God of my day, day, day,
Lord of my night, night, night,
seek for the way, way, way,
Taking me home.

"God Only Knows" - Beach Boys

Not sure it's my favorite moment, but it's my most memorable. When my father was killed, I was stuck at DIA for a while (due to plane delay and the fact that I almost got arrested). While waiting for one of my friends to show up so I would have someone to sit with for a while (this was literally within 20 minutes of being told he had passed away), all of a sudden I heard "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys. Lyrics really hit me hard for obvious reasons. When I finally got home that night (7 hours later.....), I told my mom and she said that when she got in the car, that was the first song that came on the radio.

Hmmm…I’d say the Depeche Mode song Enjoy the Silence always makes me turn the channel. My first girl I “loved” and I made out to that song once for a long time, but her parents were home and she didn’t know that and saw us in my car….brings back bad mojo feelings

Good feeling song? That’s hard to list b/c I’m a negative person at heart

The songs that played on the radio the summer I turned 16. Those were the songs of freedom. Bob Segar's Shakedown, U2's With Or Without You, La Bamba, White Snake's Here I Go Again...

ok, this is cheesy, but my High Shool's mascot was the "Tigers". On every football gameday between classes they would play "Eye of The Tiger" by Survivor. It felt so cool walking the halls in my jersey walking past teammates and getting so fired up to play that night.

Another song that brings back some rough memories is "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. It is a great song, but I happened to hear it right after both my granparents died. I guess it doesn't bring up any bad memories, just makes me thankful that I got to know my grandparents well, and this songs title rings true.

Sounds weird coming from metal fan, but "promises" by Adema.

It's a sappy story that I'm too much of an asshole on this board to show that side of me, but it involved me and my 2 closest friends talking about me getting over my ex girlfriend(this was like 2 years, I'm since over her.)

It's a trio of songs, really

Wild Horses
Going to California
Won't get fooled again

Those three songs remind me of the Broncos Super Bowl win, that I had waited my whole life to see.

Well, a redneck nerd in a bowling shirt was a-guzzlin' lone star beer
Talking religion and-uh politics for all the world to hear.
¡°they oughta send you back to russia, boy, or new york city one
You just want to doodle a christian girl and you killed god's only son.¡±

I said, ¡°has it occurred to you, you nerd, that that's not very nice,
We jews believe it was santa claus that killed jesus christ.¡±
¡°you know, you don't look jewish,¡± he said, ¡°near as i could figger
I had you lamped for a slightly anemic, well-dressed country ****er.¡°

No, they ain't makin' jews like jesus anymore,
They don't turn the other cheek the way they done before.
He started in to shoutin' and a-spittin' on the floor,
¡°lord, they ain't makin' jews like jesus anymore.¡±

He says, ¡°i ain't a racist but aristitle onassis is one greek we don't need
And them ****ers, jews and sigma nus, all they ever do is breed.
And wops ¡®n micks ¡®n slopes ¡®n spics ¡®n spooks are on my list
And there's one little hebe from the heart of texas ¡º is there anyone i missed ? ¡±

Well, i hits him with everything i had right square between the eyes.

I says, ¡°i'm gonna gitcha, you son of a bitch ya, for spoutin' that pack of lies.
If there's one thing i can't abide, it's an ethnocentric racist;
Now you take back that thing you said ¡®bout aristitle onassis.¡±

No, they ain't makin' jews like jesus anymore,
We don't turn the other cheek the way we done before.
You could hear that honky holler as he hit that hardwood floor
¡°lord, they sho' ain't makin' jews like jesus anymore!¡±
All right!

No, they ain't makin' jews like jesus anymore,
We don't turn the other cheek the way they done before.
You hear that honky holler as he hit that hardwood floor
Lord, they ain't makin' jews like jesus anymore.

Everybody!
They ain't makin' jews like jesus anymore,
They ain't makin' carpenters who know what nails are for.
Well, the whole damn place was singin' as i strolled right out the door
¡°lord, they ain't makin' jews like jesus anymore!¡±

No, we ain't makin' jews like jesus anymore,
We don't turn the other cheek the way they done before.
Well, the whole damn place was singin' as i strolled right out the door

"We Are The Champions" will also remind me of the year our boys won the State Tournament in Basketball...
