I have nothing bad to say about Romanowski and I think its a major stab in the back by Bronco fans to start calling him derogatory names because he tried to extend his career with the faiders. Fact is, he was fantastic for the Broncos, and he gave the defense a nasty eliment and a competitive advantage by getting into the heads of opposing players.
The Broncos won two championships with him and as much as I love Tom Jackson and Randy Gradishar, I can't say that for them.
The Broncos won the two SBs with Romanowski, and that is all I need to call him a great Bronco's player and a person I still have much respect for.

It's true, we have nobody to blame for Romo heading to the Fade but ourselves. Shanny essentially told him he wouldn't even be able to compete for the starting spot against Gold. How would that make you feel about a team who you've given your heart, soul, and body to?
I think he went to the Raiders as more of an FU gesture to Shanny than anything else.

Of course Romo wouldnt get a chance at a starting job cause he continued to get burned by Tight Ends the year before. Romo had aged and slowed down but obviously he had just enough left in the tank to hurt Shannon one year later. either way, that was the last we heard from Romo. Romo was a great leader when he was here but it was the right move to let him go when we did.

Can not blame a guy for trying to make money and extend his career. I Liked 95% of the nastiness that he brought to the table. It that other 5% that was garabage. I don't think the spitting incident was that bad either.

I never had anything all that good to say about him. He couldn't carry either Tom or Randy's jockstrap. I'd say Romanowski had the opportunity to win two Super Bowls with Denver. Not the other way around.
He showed his true colors when he shoved his wife forward to take any fall happening from the prescription pill mess.
I don't care what Shanahan did or didn't do. He was just the type of ass to go solicit Alice and pimp for a spot on that team. He should've given back the rings.

Does anyone know why he spit in the face of that KC player, or why he and Sharpe couldn't stand each other. I saw an interview with Sharpe about a year ago and when the reported asked him about Romo, Sharpe wouldn't even call him by name.

Romo deliberately tried to break Shannon's arm. He had to settle for screwing up his elbow. It was strictly bush league.
And he spit in JJ Stokes face of the 9ers. Well, that was one of the spitballs captured on camera anyway.

Are you kinding me!!! I guess your swiss cheese brain forgot that Romo got in such a 'roid rage that he knocked one of our TE's for his career.

"in 2003 tested positive on an NFL drug test for THG, a previously undetectable steroid allegedly provided to athletes by BALCO."
In '03 Romo was with the faiders.

I agree with this 100%
Denver's LB 'corps' was in disarray when Shanahan grabbed him from Philly.
He was a vital part of those two SB championships & I'll always be very grateful for that.

I remember the arm incident, but I thought it started before that. Regardless, it was a dirty move.

If memory serves there were 6 Raiders that tested positive for THG when Conte was taken down. I'd say you have this backwards....

REP!
I've also been on record for having nothing good to say about him. He was a dirty, cheating SOB that did all he could chemically (now our suspicions are confirmed) to stay in the game. I've never liked him and thought he was more hype than talent (although he did have a knack for rushing the passer).
Said it before and I'll say it again. Fcuk Romo! Never liked him, just tolerated him!

During the Super Bowl years the thing that Romo said he loved about Shanny, was that Shanny would tell you what he really thinks and not just what you want to hear.
I think that changed when Shanny told him what he really thought about his playing ability after the 2001 season. People love a guy who will just level with them, until they tell them what they don't want to hear.

My only problem with Romo (other than the obvious of switching to the Faiders) was that he deliberately tried to break Shannon's arm. Otherwise, he was a great player and emotional leader for the Broncos.

maybe it was the part about giving Ian Gold his job during the offseason and then asking him to take a pay cut in the same breath?....Shanny may have got egg on his face, but it eneded up working out for both teams.....hell, who would have been better then Romo to finish of the G-boy's career in Denver? Thanks again, Romo!!

Romo won two superbowls with us because of the supporting cast, sure he played a part in it, but don't go putting down jackson and graddy, are you kiddin. He comes no where even close to those two.
I am glad we got rid of him, how many damn personal fouls did he get us in the worst times possible his last year, and that whole shannon things just showed what a piece of sh!t he was, sure he was there when the broncos won the rings, but i loved watching him go to the raiders and totally suck @ss!!!!!!!

Thanks again, Romo!!It was time to make the move and give Gold a shot. Romo was on the way down. I said at the time that in the short run it would hurt Denver, because they would miss having a vet who had been through the fire, but Gold was on the way up.
I didn't see Gold splitting to Tampa, but I don't think he would have if he had not hurt his knee. If he hadn't hurt his knee, I think the Broncos would have gave him the deal he wanted. But I don't think they were willing to put up big bucks and not know if he could make it through a full season. He did that in Tampa, so Denver was willing to give him the contract he wanted.
