Are you serious? Wow... just wow...

Time for Bill Snyder to sack up and stop padding their schedule with so many cupcakes. They are beyond the need to debase themselves with such fluffer teams. Why do they continue to do this Wildcat fan? Do you guys actually approve of these tactics?

North Texas and Marshall both went to bowls last year. Besides, most schools pad the non-conference schedule with teams they expect to beat. If we aren't any good, then that will show itself against those "cupcakes". For example, I knew we were in for a long season when we allowed Louisiana-Lafayette to rack up 200 yards of offense. It's a gauge to see where you are before the conference season starts. You get to beat up on a hapless team and find out who is best suited to play what position, and the "cupcakes" get a nice, healthy check for their troubles. Everybody's happy.

Ohio State has Texas sandwiched in between Miami (Ohio) and San Diego State.

That some good rationalizing there. Kick the crap out of the sisters of the poor, it should be a telling sign of how the team is doing. Actually, getting your ass handed to you by FSU (not the good Florida FSU) was a telling sign

Going to bowls isn't nearly as prestigous as it used to be, a 6 win season gets you in a bowl now. Most teams do schedule a few cupcake games, one because a win is a good thing to get, and 2 the small schools thrive off the revenue of playing a big school so they're more than willing to schedule a game.

But, a lot of teams play at least one tough non-conference game, as the case with Ohio State this year as we host the Texas Longhorns. KSU has a joke of a non-conference schedule year in and year out, and they get picked on for it and still schedule these cupcake schools.

Big 12 isn't good enough to carry a good strength of schedule, and teams have been left out of BCS bowls and national title games because of their low strength of schedule, so KSU really needs to put a good team on their schedule to compensate.

1 game is all we're asking, just 1.

Yes, but that was also the year they dropped their football program :flush:

This year they have Pitt (a BCS bowl participant from last year albiet the worst one) and the next two years USC.

Hey, that was as close as I can get to complimenting Nebraska! Their non-conference schedule has gotten a lot tougher.

There was actually a post on the Buffs board I read about which opponent do you hate the most? KSU won pretty easily because, to quote most of the people there, "I hate both Nebraska and jKSU, but I can at least respect Nebraska."

Yeah you have to play a tougher non conferance schedule anymore if you want to go anywhere in the BCS (NU's still a year or two away from contending for that IMO)

I can't completely hate the Buffs because I love almost everything else about Colorado.....

You're right about that. Losing to Fresno State was a sign of things to come. However, I could tell our defense was going to suck before that game. Scheduling weak teams is like preseason in the NFL. It's a time to figure out the pieces of the puzzle before we hit the Big 12 schedule.

They don't have any D I-AA schools on the schedule for quite some time, unlike CU.

This year should be exciting. The Big XII north is up for grabs. I'd say everyone has got a legit shot at it, except KU. NU will have to replace alot of starters, and CU had their good year last year. I don't know where to peg CU. MU has a good defense, and BRAD SMITH!!!!111...ISU..jeez, who knows. I can't WAIT.

Don't worry..once KSU bounces back, we will fill out the schedule with some good teams.

Texas throttling OSU? Looks like you have a chance to make up those 50 bucks if you'd like to(we can make the deal as the season gets closer.)

Big 12 is nothing for us, we've disposed 2 Big 12 teams the past 2 years in bowl games and I don't see Texas coming into Columbus and knocking us off.

Isnt the game in columbus? Texas isnt going to win. They never win big games. It goes beyond Oklahoma. O$U* has everyone coming back on a really good defense. That LB corps is very good. Vince Young is going to have to play like he did in the Rose Bowl and against Kansas. Sorry i dont see them going up there and winning. Moreover, O$U* has found ways to win games, especially at home, in ways that really strain credulity. I dont know how they do it, its really ugly and bland but they win. Texas wont come out of there with a win. I dont know how good KSU will be this year but i do know (future Kansas City Chief) Brad Smith will rape you.

Ohio State is going to be damn good this year also, I wouldn't be surprised if both of our schools are ranked in the top 5 when we play each other.

We'll have Troy Smith back for that game, our running game looks great with Antonio Pittman and Erik Haw sharing carries, OL didn't lose anyone with Sims and Mangold being two possble 1st team all-americans, and at WR we have Santonio Holmes, Anthony Gonzalez, Roy Hall, and a guy named TED GINN JR.

Defensive line is missing a big time pass rusher, but our run D looks great and if someone will sep up in the pass rushing department, our DL will be super. Can't even begin to talk about our LB's other than they are the best and deepest in the country(Hawk, Carpenter, D'Andrea, Schlegel, Freeman), and DB is looking for a replacement for Dustin Fox, who will probably be Tyler Everett, and the other 3 are all returning(Youbouty, Salley, Whitner.)

The biggest concern in Columbus is is Houston can step up and be half the kicker as Mike Nugent was. Houston looked good in the spring game and hopefully that translates into the regular season, but losing NUGE will certainly hurt.

And the game is played at the Horseshoe, 102,000+ Buckeye fans going crazy, Texas won't know what to do with that crowd level. OSU with their LB speed on D can contain Vince Young on the run, and unless he gotten 10 fold better at throwing the ball this year, that's all they'll need to do to contain him. If the game was down at UT, then I can see some concern, but OSU puts away just about every team not named Wisconsin when they are home.

It will be a good game, but Ohio State has national championship hopes this year as well and I'll be damned if they get dismantled in week 2 at home, regardless of what team we're playing.

I do understand why some may not think we'll be as good as Texas this year, afterall we did go 8-4 last year, but 2 thing about that:

1.) Look at the last 2 games of the season, when QB Troy Smith really got comfortable in our offense(he also was 5-1 as a starter last year), we handed both Michigan and Oklahoma State their asses.

2.) We were 7-5 in 2001, we ended up winning the national championship the following year. We were preseason ranked #12 to begin that season and made our way all the way up to #2 at seasons end. We should now be ranked in the top 5 after going 8-4 last year.

OSU vs. Texas will be a good game, but I don't see Texas winning this one.

No it's not, the only thing left for the NCAA to do is dish out the punishment for OSU's basketball teams.

Not sure where you have been, but here is an article about it:

http://ohiostate.scout.com/2/379407.html

The Troy Smith allegation is the only one where the NCAA found proof. Gene Smith said the NCAA investigated a number of claims made by Maurice Clarett and others.

Smith will serve the second of a two-game suspension for the 2005 season opener against Miami (Ohio). Otherwise, the football program – after months of bad publicity – seems to be free and clear.

“There was a thorough investigation by the NCAA and our staff,” Gene Smith said. “What you see before you is what you see in football.”

It's different than the B-day card that I got from Bill Snyder, which wrote:

"FADERPROOF,

Upon contrary belief, college football didn't start until 1990, so not putting us as one of top programs of all time is rather insulting
