moss is a beast, he always has double digit td seasons, and yet, he doesnt even put forth all his effort, just an insane athlete
Moss, no question....heck he's one of, likely THE, best in the NFL, not just the AFC West.

I dont know I would say Rod til he shows his age. Of course I take into consideration Leadership, Blocking, willingness to do whatever it takes, umm like punt returning, Chasing a guy 90 yards to save a TD and such.
If you are talking purely top end talent then Moss, but he is not the best WR in the game much less AFC and is definately not a winner.
I would say Moss!! But I'm pullin' for the Boy Wonder!! Vincent Jackson!!
AFC rookie of the year!! ;D Go Bears!

Until I see Moss catch a pass in a Raiders uniform, I won't count him. So there... Nyah!
At reciever its no question Moss, but as an offensive weapon in general he looses out to LT2.

How could anyone not vote for Moss? He is by far the most dangerious weapon at his position. Now, best overall WR in the West would be debatable.

Um, no. There's no WR that comes CLOSE to Moss in the AFC West.

I said it was debatable, not that he wasn't the best overall WR in the West. Moss's best atribute is that he's a home run threat. In other areas of the game there are better WR's in the west then him. Overall Moss still takes the crown IMO, but it is debatable.

Moss can only beat double coverages when he feels like playing. of course that would be every other play so it wouldnt do him much good if he didnt show up all the time. Moss has skillz but he is a toolshed and a Canker sore waiting to happen. no thanks, ill take the guy who has two Super Bowl rings and a great attitude in Smith.

Depends ....... Seriously , when it comes to blocking , Rod hands down , I saw Rod take on the DE for the Vikes one on one , Route Running = Rod , he isnt the fastest , but he is Crisp , Pure pass catching , Speed and and leaping = Randy Moss ....... alot of it depends on the offense you run , then you have to factor in the TE , he has more effect on the passing game , If Moss would have went ot the Chiefs or the Chargers , then we are toast , he who controls the Hashmarks with a TE , controls the game , and it is still true today ..
So since we are a running team , Moss wouldnt Replace Rod per say , We need the down field blocking , we need the Stud TE to control the hashmarks ......

It might be the homer in me but I believe Lelie could come close to Moss given the right QB. How successfully would Moss be if he had Plummer throwing to him in Denvers offense? Not very in my opinion. If Lelie had Dante throwing to him, he would be alot more successful than he is now with Plummer at QB. Still Moss is the King.

I have to disagree. I think Lelie will be an awesome weapon, but Moss was amazing right out of the chute and has been dominant. He is HOF worthy. Lelie, at this point anyway, isn't.

Uh... No, it doesn't depend at all. The question is who is the best weapon at receiver in the AFC West. The answer is Randy Moss. Any answer past that is nothing but homerism any way you want to look at it. You can split it out and try to factor in TEs and coaches and waterboys if you want. The answer is still going to be that Moss is the best weapon at receiver in the AFC West.

As a HornHead, I didn't like the Moss trade, especially since they passed on BMW for Williamson. They could of moved down to get him.
They got Nap Harris and a green rookie with speed. We will see if Williamson is all he is cracked up to be, but Mike Williams is so damn strong in all phases. On draft day, between Minnesota passing on Williams and Denver taking a midget at least a round early, I just turned it to Lifetime.

Go take a shiat and come back. Jerry Porter is better than Rod Smith? Give me a break. Why do you think they almost let him go and traded for Moss?
OH, and welcome to the franchise tag with Woodson. Oakland will win 5 or 6 games next year. You just traded your #1 pick and Harris, and spent a hundred million on a crackhead.
The world doesn't spin around Randy Moss. I will tell you one other thing. Randy Moss has a chronic ankle that makes him take alot of plays off. It's a stone cold fact he can't play with pain like a Rod Smith, who played on two broken legs. This isn't even to mention that moss carried a 10 million dollar tag.
Have fun with him, Minnesota is overjoyed he's gone.

Raider fans can claim that Jerry Porter is better than Rod Smith... but that's not what nfl.com says. Not only did Rod put up better numbers than Porter last year, but so did Lelie.

How can anyone say that rod smith compares to moss and his routes are more crisp rod does not run the roues as crisp as moss and hes not as fast. Jerry porter is hella of alot better than rod smith hes just not getting used as much and I really think this will be one of collins break out years with porter and moss. like I said porter is raw and he can beat double coverrages and can beat up on so called shut down corners something I have not seen rod do. I will admit rod is tough and good so he on the top Afc west wideouts along with porter, gonzo, gates, lelie, mcardell these are all good wide outs but moss is the best threat of all.

Alot of them but there is also alot who werent on Sb teams im not saying rings are nothing but as an individual you want to be the best at what you do so that means your shooting for canton.

Look all this comes down to is that Moss came over and hes a big threat no matter whos on him as well as porter was here and played big aginst bailey and chump cant cover porter he cant cover moss so the broncs drafted Cb and moss is one of the best wideots face it just becuse hes on an opposing team that does not mean his talent is not there.
no one here has denied that Moss is as talented as a WR comes. It just takes more than that, his talent hasn't really resulted in a whole lot of wins back in Minny.
In football, your success is hinged on your teammates more than any other sport. I can't imagine someone saying, I want to be in the HOF, super bowls aren't important. That alienates every other guy on your team that is fightin for a win come sunday.
also, I'm pretty sure the sudden CB influx is more a result of Peyton than anyone in the AFC West.

For all I know they could have been drafting for depth or looking for good tacklers or someone posed a threat on the vertical game it doesnt matter. This season was for a specific need moss.

Exactly!! peyton or moss whatever the reason it was a specfic need that would need to be filled. It does not alienate evryone on your team that you want to play to perfection and get it done I also never said Sbs werent important I was saying that guys make to the Nfl and want that felling of knowing they played to there full potential and that they were great in there time.

my point is, Moss doesn't play to perfection, he doesn't play anywhere near a constant level of greatness. He could, but that would mean playing every down, blocking, staying on the field for the entire game, taking some blame for losses, playing a leadership role. The BEST weapons do more than what Moss has shown he is willing to do.

I disagree moss is headed toward the hall hes also a leader on the field and I agree he could try evry down but regardless he gets the job done and is one of the greatet the NFl has seen regfaurdless of what anyone says.

If Moss does make it to the Hall, I would love to hear his induction speech. "I played when I wanted to play." Hilarious!

Since Kennison is inexplicably absent from my ballot, I would be tempted to pick Moss. I won't though, because he's a pecker.
If Moss' first signs of physical breakdown last year develop into a trend this year and if Ashley Lelie has a bigger breakout season than most are still expecting, its not inconceivable that Lelie will outproduce Moss this year and from here on out.

Nope. Not even close. Lelie does have at least top ten WR talent, if he really blossoms this season.
I'm just saying that Moss has been very healthy up until last season. I would guess that since his ability is so God gifted he might not work as diligently as an average athlete such as Rod Smith. Maybe he does and he'll play his usual 16 games next season. For the first time ever you have to wonder about his physical status just a little bit.
In no way am I expecting Lelie to outproduce Moss this season, but it wouldn't be completely shocking.

He was still very productive even well hurt and still had some spectacular games and broke on double coverages. Maybe he has top 10 but thats maybe on lelile.

Moss missed three games with a hamstring injury and he was practically worthless in four others. He also made token appearances in two games strictly as a concession to a consecutive games streak, which is fairly consistent with Randy's priorities. He did play pretty well in his return, but he couldn't do enough to prevent Minnesota's annual winter slide.
