View Full Version : Is This The Best Time of the Season?

Sure it is. Here's why: this is the one stretch for Bronco fans where anything is possible. Individual hopes rule the day. The draft is over, so we can't bitch about any idiot moves by the front office. The games have not started, so we can't bitch about any idiot moves by Shanny. Every rookie is a potential starter (theoretically), every FA is a potential upgrade (theoretically), every injury is potentially healed, every head case perhaps magically matured. Even Jake has not thrown a single pick.

This is the stretch where I always hope--against all hope--that the team magically comes together and exceeds all expectation, and lives up to its potential. A few happy months. Of course, ever year for the past seven this warm and fuzzy feeling has been exploded by Shanny's growing imcompetence, but hey, maybe this year will be different.

So here's to off-season optimism!

Peace out.

Yes it is. Cause it's NASCAR season. Only the greatest sport in the world besides kickball.

Shannahan is hardly incompetent.

And my favorite time of the year is training camp when the Denver media makes every player look like an All-Pro

Well training camp is part of this magical period, and another good reason to love it. As for the first part of your post, I'll demur.

This might be your most positive post ever telluride! (even with the digs at Shanny and the FO)

We might be able to get a pair of these on you yet......

I have to admit, I'm more excited about the upcoming KC season than ever before.

Desperation will do that.

This is the worst time of the season. The draft's over and preseason doesn't start until August. That's another 3 months + before any real football starts. I'm sure somewhere there's some guy who drools over SKODA emblazoned uniforms to go with the sub-mediocre brand of football that NFL Europe exudes on a weekly basis, but it ain't for most of us.

And really, it's over 4 months until the real season starts and until any of us have something legitimately interesting to talk about.

For me April is the most exciting month of the year. As far as having so many events that I enjoy all in the same period. October would be a close 2nd with MLB playoffs and the season.

In April you have-

1. the Final Four
2. the Masters
3. the beginning of MLB/fantasy baseball
4. NFL Draft
5. NBA playoffs

All the more crushing it will be when the mighty Chiefs fall on their face yet again.

So, is the offseason your favorite part of every sport?

I love the off-season. Dreaming and wondering who is going to be a Broncos this year. The off-season is what you make of it I guess, and I think its fun.

I was actually thinking the same thing, telluride. These moments before where anything is possible are pretty neat because all you see is potential. There are no loses, no mistakes and all you see is sunny skies. Couple that with the anticipation of the games to start and its certainly a feel good time.

I gotta say though, I was way more excited during the latter part of the '97 season. That was a magical time. :woowoo:

'98 wasn't too bad either, I must say.

The '97 and '98 seasons are the reasons the last 6 years were disappointing. We will never enjoy a Super Bowl the same way. How many people are still enjoying our past Super Bowl wins? The next one, if it ever comes, will be even more short-lived.

Of course, ever year for the past seven this warm and fuzzy feeling has been exploded by Shanny's growing imcompetence, but hey, maybe this year will be different.

2005-7 = 1998

Your fuzzy feeling exploded in 1998? I guess the Giants and Dolphins losses were a big letdown that year. :)
