View Full Version : Brown to Denver?

This is from the Pittsburg post gazette....

NOTES -- The Steelers began signing undrafted rookies after the draft and hoped to land 11 or 12, with a higher concentration at linebacker than other positions. They also may sign a rookie quarterback. Veteran QB Charlie Batch, who has been with them three years, is a free agent Colbert says is "an option." ... Colbert also said "there's been communication" with former Steelers LB Chad Brown, released by Seattle the past week. However, Brown turned down a $1 million annual offer to remain with the Seahawks and appears headed to Denver.

This was mentioned in a thread yesterday. Shanahan acknowledged that they've contacted Brown and would like to bring him in as just that, a pass rushing specialist.

I'm all for it. A veteran LB with local roots who can contribute. Git 'R Done.

He better come cheap. I want us to go and get another guard in FA and possibly another WR.

BTW...

This just shows how on top of things the Mane is. Just another example of us talking about things only to have them show up in the national media a day or so later.

Why go anywhere else for my news?

Where is Taco...He was on the Planet talking about how it was clear that some team must have been tampering...

I told him at the time he would have a completely different word and spin for it if that team happened to be the Donks...

Well Taco?

;D ....... in alot of respects , fans here are better then the Media , we are hungry for anything that pretains to the Broncos , not the entire NFL , so we get a more direct streamline news here , and how it effects our team ......

I don't know the details but Joe Seahawk had posted something over on the Planet about him and gave some details of which I didn't paying any attention and asked if that was tampering...Taco jumped in and gave his opinion that it was tampering...That is when I said you say that now but you will have a completely different spin if that team turns out to be the Donks.

Well I don't waste my time at CP so i don't know what TJ said.

All I know is it can't be tampering by a team if the player comes to you and says I want to play for you alone let's make a deal.

Joe Seahawk may be pissed because he just lost a good player and we will snatch him up for 1/2 of what his team was going to pay. I guess that's what happens when you treat your players well and you have a good reputation.

Well I'm guessing he was claiming that they were working a deal while still under contract with Seattle...It doesn't take a lot of brains to figure out why he was saying that and why Taco was agreeing...

Brown played at CU.

Doesn't take a lot of brains to figure there doesn't have to be any type of advance talk. Kid probably just wants to come home.

Who are the Broncos tampering with? Chad Brown who has been released?

If he came cheap he would be bring good pass rushing and veteran leadership to the defense.

How do we get him on the field though? In our 3-4 packages?

This would be great news. You can never add enough high quality vets like Chad Brown. This is the same type of addition that John Lynch was last year.

Note Ben Hamilton getting blown into the backfield in this picture. Why we insist on not having any bulk inside remains a mystery.

It would help if he was playing center not guard. I think is an average guard to be honest...hopefully he is a better center.

Of course when Nalen retires I'm going to be really concerned with our lack of depth along the o-line and the possiblity of Lepsis not coming back next year. I really wish we had picked up Mathis with that first third. Damn you Shanny.

Brown could help but to tell you the truth I wasn't really impressed with Lynch last year. He missed a lot of one on one tackles. He was just too slow. I am probably overstating this since his leadership probably did way more good than a few missed tackles did bad but it was just an observation. If Denver signs Brown it is going to be a very crowded training camp for Dline pass rushers.

Taco's alter ego posts on Chef Planet. You should know that. He will say things just to get your panties in a bunch and laugh. Here, he has to be the responsible parent over this madhouse, but I don't see why he can't rattle the teepee with some stray bullest over there, within reason.

Classic. I see Hamilton holding his block and Q getting wiped out. There were a ton of problems trying to run Q last year. I don't know if your scheme blocking left someone go free, and watched Q run right into the tackler, but Hamilton is engaged. We all know he's undersized, but that picture doesn't see him getting overpowered or beaten whatsoever. This is so classic of blindness it's hysterical. I don't care if he has his knee drops, he is supposed to hold his block, and he is. Hamiltons biggest problem is like alot of Denver OL, they get flagged alot because they latch on.

In a scheme OL, you zone block. Simply taking a snapshot of Q getting jacked up doesn't really tell you much, especially when the guy making the tackle isn't even fronted. Where was the LT, off in Wyoming? Looks more like Q was running with his head down with no vision.

Indeed it does to me, obviously they didn’t think he was quick enough to play in their system……..I’m not sure why though from what I read about it, sounds like he had 1st round talent

Looks more like Nalen missed a block and Q got caught dancing in the backfield more than Hamilton missed a block.

I don't know what you see, but I see Q getting hit by backside persuit and just lousy blocking by everyone but him. In the picture, Hamilton is the only one who has his attacker stood up. This is so funny.

It looks more like a lousy playcall than anything, with stunts both behind, and to the left of Hamilton. He can't take out more than one player. Looks more like Seattle guessed right and stuffed Q with extra players than anything else. Of course, we all know what a big Q fan I am, he can be thrown for a loss with an arm tackle because he doesn't have any leverage.

I come up with 2 reasons for this
1. Probably most likely senario, Q makes the wrong read ........
2. Someone ( either T.E. ,F.B. Lepsis ) missed read who to block ......

That's why Hamilton is buckling after getting blown four yards into the backfield.

Kind of funny that you and the drunken imbecile are ready to blame people who aren't even in the picture, but the guy who's shown getting overpowered (like he was so often last year) must have some excuse.

The play could have been going wide and Hamilton was supposed to lead. Instead of getting into his man, he was tied up and knocked into the ballcarrier instead. Either way, he didn't do his job on this play. Not many plays are designed for the blocker to be shoved backwards until his leg buckles and trips the runner.

Part of the blame there Slap is that the Defense is in the Picture and the Linemen are not ........ seems to me if Q did make the right Read , and Hamilton got blown 4 yards back , there wouldnt be 3 seahawks around Q if everyone else held up their blocks , or if Hamilton held his ground , there would be other Bronco linemen in the picture also ...... Unless Hamilton is responcible for blocking all 3 , and we can rule that out ......

even if the Play was going wide , you would have a WR or a TE sealing to the inside , and seeing the Backside Persuit , someone blew it ....

We have many real concers with our OL. What we have is good, however, take note that Carlisle is now projected to RG in place of Neil. Now that leaves only Green to replace either or both of our tackles. There is no one else listed on the depth chart. Everybody else is listed as guards. With the possibility of Lepsis leaving next year, it makes the tackle spot critical.
