I have two.
In the NFC I think The Cowboys will rebound this year and get to 10 wins and securing a Wild Card.
In the AFC I look for the Bills to win the AFC NORTH. The Patriots might get a wild card this year.... maybe

Cowboys and the Cardinals will both make the playoffs this year, just watch.

Cowboys certainly are the sexy pick--how many times you gonna keep Parcells outta the playoffs?!?
AZ drafted pretty well this weekend--they are turning the corner.
I'd say the Bengals could surprise and maybe the Jets add another win or two (CMart is the big issue there).

The Skins are going to surprise everyone by going 0-16.

Cincinnati is a lot better than most think. They played poorly before they beat us, then they played great for the remainder of the season. Buffalo is another sleeper. These two teams will be a couple of the new AFC powerhouses in 2005. The NFC is still inferior.

I think Jacksonville could be a real sleeper...If Leftwich takes the next step with consistency, which I think he will, then they could really move up...They will need Reggie Williams to step up and develop in his second year but overall I think they will have a very good defense and their offense with Taylor, Leftwich, Williams and Jimmy Smith will be pretty good..If Matt Jones becomes a weapon in year 1 then look out.

My sleepers are
NFC Minnesota. Losing Moss is addition by subtraction for them. If they don't make the playoffs Tice is gone.
AFC I hate to say this, but the fade. They're going to have the top offense in the AFC. Remember when the fade just chucked the ball down the field to Brown and James Jett, yeah deja vu.

in the NFC, predicting the Cardinals to win a weak NFC West. Green has made them better. AFC, Bengals will win the afc North. Just look like they are ready to do it.
Us.
Everyone is downplaying Denver for next season. I don't see where any of our rivals caused any real seperation in the division. The Chefs and Raiders still can't play D, the Chargers are hoping that Brees wasn't a one year wonder. We've added a lot of athletic corners and have a lot of high potential projects on the DL. So if we get some luck, avoid injuries and have some young players step up we could really take off.

Dunno if its a surprise pick, but I currently have Carolina as winning their division.
It wouldnt surprise me if they went to the SB either. They look on paper just as strong as Philly IMO, and their defense should be even better with healthy players, a better secondary and not to say the best DL in football.
In AFC the Bungles look even more improved offensively, and I believe their defense with Lewis as a HC should improve even more. Toughest obstacle is being in division with the Steelers and Ravens.
I agree about the Jaguars to tho.

Arizona is going to have so much buzz going into the season that they can't qualify as a surprise team. Especially in that crappy division. I was all over them last year, though. They could have snuck into the playoffs if Green wouldn't have flipped out and benched McCown, too.
I think Chicago will field one of the best defenses in the League next season. Nobody has more young talent on the defensive line. Team leader Mike Brown's healthy return from a torn achilles is key to their success.
Carolina is another team that is too good to qualify as a surprise team, but I still think they'll be better than most people expect next season. Injuries destroyed their season in September last season, but Fox kept the team together and they'll rebound in a big way this year.
There's much more potential for advancement in the weak sister NFC. The top teams in the AFC are more established and the overall quality of the conference will make it harder for any upstarts to make waves this season. I would say Houston has the best chance to surprise people. Carr and Andre Johnson need to both step up this year and show they can make plays when opposing defenses are focused on stopping them. The Texans are stuck in a very tough division, though.

...
On offense, Grossman was playing pretty well before they lost him for the season. I knew his backups were bad, but those guys took "bad" to a whole 'nother level.

I seriously think the AFC is going to beat on each other this year. No AFC team will have more than 12 wins IMHO. That means 11-5 or 10-6 could host second round playoff games. DEN going 10-6 yet again may not only get them a home game but maybe two.
Bills have a rookie QB. Bengals are in year two with Palmer. BAL gets an easier schedule this year. Jets are a huge "?". JAX and HOU will probably beat INDY this year. OAK, KC and SD are definitely improved and the AFC west will again beat each other down. NE and PIT are the only Two teams I see being a "LOCK" for the playoffs.
NFC is even in further disarray. PHI, ATL, and MIN look to be locks for the playoffs. ARI, DAL, STL, SEA, and maybe GB are in a next tier. And one of the rest could pull a SD type rise this year, probably CAR.

I believe Philly and Carolina will be on one tier in the NFC and damn near everybody else, except San Francisco and Detroit, are going to be pretty even. I'm probably underrating Atlanta, but I thought they were a team that caught a lot of breaks last year. If their luck balances out this season, so will their record.

Do you think there will be repercussions in the locker room over the Ron Mexico incident? Are people going to be cool with getting into the same hottub, etc? If nothing else, it has certainly given ammunition to the opponent's fans. I think this year will tell us how mentally strong he is.

vick has herpes right? 25% of the adult population has herpes. I wouldn't be surprised if half of athletes have herpes.

DEN going 10-6 yet again may not only get them a home game but maybe two. I'm not so sure. I agree with you that the AFC overall is tough this year, its where much of the talent resides, but I don't think the West quite qualifies. Look at our two best teams from last year, the Chargers and us. We got ran off the field by the Colts, while the Chargers got beat by the Jets, a team that barely made it in over Buffalo.
Now many of those teams have made improvements to at least match ours and the Chargers, so where does that leave us? As the AFC whipping boy's conference I'd say.
In the North all four of our division teams will loose out to the Steelers or the Ravens 4 out of 5 times.
In the South we loose out to Indy badly, and Jacksonville is on par with the best the West can offer.
The East will just embarass us, I don't think any of us are a pick to challenge the Pats any time soon, and the Bills and Jets are about on par with the best we can do as well.
We're not the feared division we once where. Put us in the NFC and we trounce teams, sure, but when we face the other premier AFC teams our whole division gets slapped around next year.

Well maybe you know more about it than the average football player that doesn't have it. All I'm saying is, I don't know much about it, and it would make me feel uneasy, without knowing if I could be at risk. I'm sure some of the players might feel the same.

the fade will have the top offense, not. Kerry C will never be able to run the top offense in the Nfl. Who will have the top offense, obviously the colts. This is going to be a very frustrating for Moss having a QB who throws the ball to anyone across the line of Scrimage.

The CDC recently estimated that 45 million Americans have some form of herpes, and many of those cases go undiagnosed. Rates of infection are also much higher in the African American community. I'm sure athletes are at a significantly higher risk than the average guy who doesn't have gold digging superfreaks flashing snatch at them on a regular basis, too.
Most athletes don't get too prissy about the lockerroom, no matter how gross it gets in there. Complaining is usually just an invitation for some kind of utterly disgusting practical joke at your exepense.

If that's so I guess it's a misunderstanding. I'm leary though, considering you're well known for being an ass. I truly thought you were just calling me out for being uneducated about the subject.
BTW - I don't have any problem saying I don't know everything, I think the smartest people are the ones that admit they don't know ****. There's a lot of knowledge out there.

Piss on that, just talk authoritatively and ignore the stuff you don't want to hear.
That is the path of true inner peace.

Thanks for the answer, and well ... I hope you're right Slap. The guy is an incredible talent and the Falcons were just beginning to enjoy the fruits of his talents. It would be a shame if he couldn't keep his head in the game because of some locker room friction.
