View Full Version : Welcome to true 'Running Back by Commitee" in Denver...
Bell and Q will no doubt remain on the roster....and I have to think Clarett will since they burned a 3rd round pick on him.....thrown in Dayne and Mike Anderson as questionables and WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF RBBC.
What do you think?
Clarett is truely talented and perhaps some verteran leadership can take the "cancer" out him...and we know the system can make him excel.
It honestly wouldn't suprise me for him to be the starter by mid-season with Bell becoming a change of pace back (assuming his recieving skills have improved) and Q becoming a return and special teams guy.

How is Dayne above MA and Q?
It'll be Bell, Anderson, Q, Clarett, Dayne (If he makes roster)

You guys throwing Johnson out the door as well?
Actually, I think Dayne can beat out both Johnson and Anderson if given a realistic chance.....but it appears he'll be like Mike Quinn was when he was on the team, nothing more than camp fodder.
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Q either....Clarett is coming into a complex system after two years out of football acting like the ultimate idiot. Really, I don't like his chances at this point.
Look for him to start next year..........in NFL Europe.

Q is gone (or should be) and Clarett will make the team because of Shanahan's vanity.

I think Q is gone too. Sapp and Beard are probably history also. Anderson is on the bubble.

There is no RBBC this year. Tatum is going to start and one of the other jokers will get some face time giving him a breather. Thats it.

Shanahan proved yesterday he has no confidence in Bell staying healthy.

You need to chose a different word to use. I don't think there is any correlation between those two situations.
If anything it illustrated Bobby Turner's opinion of Clarett, and how highly the Broncos regard Turner's opinions and input. I am sure a few different people were asking for players, but Turner got the nod.

According to what I heard on the radio last night, Turner threatened to leave unless they made an honest attempt to get Clarett. I have lost all respect for him if this is true. Blackmailing the team to feed his own ego.
Clarett will be sitting in the same booth as Gardner at the IHOP by June.

Q , Bell , Dayne , Clarrett , Anderson .........
Q and Bell have trade value , Realy would like to see Bell stay though , I think he is a hellva back . but if we can traqde those guys for some draft picks next year and a decent Corner ....... the Clarrett pick makes alot of sence ......

No - not a chance. Clarett may make sense, and I'm all for risk. But Bell is our horse this year. I think he can put up Portis like numbers this year. It was a good time to do a draft like this - we have a fairly easy schedule. All the tough games are at home. But Clarett still makes me cringe. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong

I want to agree , I like Bell , he hits the hole with explosion , got excellent vision , can pick up a blitzer on Pass protection , bells got everything , and in Denvers system we dont need a Back with everything ..... I would like to see Bell Stay , but ........

I have never seen anyone get to, and through, the whole faster than Bell. He freakin' Bull-Rushes that hole.
There is no way Bell is going anywhere. He was hand picked and targeted. He started to prove his worth at the end of his rookie season. He is a keeper. He is one of the Untouchables. ;D

Every year we hear this by committee fantasy. By week 4 the dominant runner establishes himself. The rest become critical role players. Dayne is designed for the goal line guy.
Then just rotate them in as the injuries start happening....

Bell will be the starter. He has everything we want, although he needs to work on his catching ability a bit. Dayne will be here 1 year max, and Anderson is as good as gone now. Clarett will be given every chance to succeed, but one thing keeps standing out for me. Could Clarett end up being a hybrid fullback? He has massive size, and great hands. He'd be perfect for goaline situations and catching passes out of the backfield. I dunno, maybe I'm just reaching for a reason to take Clarett or any rb for that matter. We are loaded.

I have 3 of them one is retired ...... the other is LT 2 and the 3 rd would be younger Priest Holmes , But Bell is younger then the other 2 ....... So No other Running back i would trade for Bell, But then I am no Bobby Turner either ;D

I thought the same thing about Portis .......

Lets hope so , I really Like Bell , Last thing I would want is our Defense to face him ;D

Don't flip out when Clarett is placed on the IR so no one can take him from us. You know like we always do with guys that are not ready to start.
I am sure a few different people were asking for players, but Turner got the nod. See, I totally hate this approach to the draft. Why do assistants get so much play with Shanahan, and what was Slowik doing yesterday, giving Mike a blow job? Sundquist and Shanahan should have an overall view of what the team needs and what players they can get for value to fill those roles. Instead its like "ok, in round X we'll let assitant X take a guy, who do you want?" So when the assitant makes the choice he doesn't care about value, or who's left on the board, only about making his position of responsibility look better, often at the expense of leaving more talented players on the board.

I thought the same thing about Portis .......
I was prayer for the day Portis would be gone. it was just as painful as Griese (that SOB) being on our team, just in a different way.
As far as hitting the hole, I think Bell Clearly hits it harder and faster than both LT2 and Priest. They both make a very strong rush to the hole. Alot of sweeps and counters.
But as far as a straight SPRINT, Bell wins, hands down. Its such a fast hit, as soon as the QB hand Bell the rock, he is already THROUGH the hole. Even on a deep sprint, he is through there so fast. I can only imagine what he could do on a deep pitch out, with the Oline out there attacking the flat, Bell could be devastating.

Truthfully
I dont know about Mike anderson and griffin.
Mike is 33, and Q is a scat back and with a knee injury might never be the same
So i see Bell and Dayne as are real HB's

Matter of opinion , but the LT2 is a handfull ...... and I have seen LT2 explode ... and lower his head , juke .......

Priest hasnt been explosive since his Hip , nor has the speed been there ....
a deep Pitch or a sweep is move vision and Patience , then speed and power .. I dont know if Bell is a good Pitch guy or not ......

It's Bells job to lose. I hope they move Clarret to FB. He's big enough for it, and they can give him the ball 5-10 a game. Could be what the early '70s Dolphins had.

What radio station did you hear that on?
I wouldn't doubt it but I don't hold it as a knock on Turner. It will be a knock on Turner if it goes bad and he knows it.
