I know the playoffs dont start till the weekend, but I wanted to start a thread w/ my Spurs playing against the Nuggets.

This has the makings of knock-them-out, drag-out kinda of series that could go 6 or 7. TD is looking better and better w/ his ankle, Rasho will be activated and I dont think D Brown will play w/ his back injury. GRob had 23 points last nite and is getting in shape and his scoring will be needed for the Spurs.

I'm sure Camby will play and its amazing to see Voshon Leonard come back from his torn achilles injury he sustained in November. His shooting will come in handy.

Key for this series will be points off turnovers and if TP can get in the lane and the bench production for both teams.

Good luck to the Nuggets and Spurs!!!!!

fair post, though youre still the enemy right now :)

i think the nuggets are possibly the best #7 seed ever, so not very fair that san antonio draws them after playing to the #2 seed.
this should be a great series.

im a BIT concerned with the last two games, but im comforted by the fact that the fans and media (and NOT the organization) were the ones making such an issue out of those two games.
personally, i think the teams philosophy is that they didnt care who they played in round one, and that being said beating houston wasnt as important as getting people healthy.
i would like a win tonight for momentum, but even that isnt necessary.

voshon coming back is huge.
only concern i have is making sure he doesnt try to do too much, which he has had a tendency to do in the past.

camby i think couldve played yesterday if needed, and should be 100% by the playoffs.
bottom line is this team should be 100% for the first time since opening day, which is something san antonio cant say.

the key factor in this series is simple.
1) will camby stay healthy, and be able to play to the team mvp level that he's capable, and
2) how effective will duncan be?

frankly, i think this is the nuggets series to lose, but its disheartening to not have homecourt, and know that you wont in any series after.
it could go either way, but i honestly believe that if the nuggets stay healthy through the series, they will come out on top.
nuggets in 6.

I dont talk trash, so there wont be any drama on this thread. Thats cool if you think I'm the enemy for at least two to three weeks, these damn first round matchups take an eternity to complete cuz of the long layoff between games.

The key for the Spurs will be health as well and if Rasho can pick up Nazr's willingness to go after on the boards.

Manu's play will be key, not so much his scoring, but those hustle plays that make him a special player.

BTW, the Nuggets could win the series, but not in 5 MajikMan.

Best of luck RO.

I feel sick right now. I think San Antonio's gonna walk all over us. I want to see some SERIOUS intensity tonight against Portland. It's not so much the fact that we lost the last two games, it's how we lost them.

Anyone know when the schedule's gonna come out? Now that they know all the teams in the West, they should be finalizing plans now.

Schedule prob. wont come out till after the Eastern Conference is set. They have to see which games will be on TNT and ESPN.

Veshon is not going to make the playoff roster barring any major injuries (Najera?). Karl is letting him play right now as a reward for working hard in practice and being a member of the team despite his injury.

I just wish I could get a general day to expect. I need to make sure that I can go to a playoff game here, and with graduation coming up it's gonna make it tricky.

Van Gundy (Houston) said that he expects the Rockets to play Sunday according to Houston sports talk, so some tentative plans have already been laid.

Wow, Spurs fan coming in and saying 6 or 7 games. That surprises the hell out of me. Do you actually believe that, or are you just saying that?

I agree with Nuggets4 here, I'm terrified of this series, and think Duncan and Co. is going to walk all over us. In fact, this may make me a bad fan, but because we're playing the Spurs, I might only go to 1 playoff game instead of the 2 I was planning on... Although a lot of that has to do with being a college student, I may not be able to afford both games anyways, even if we had made it to the 6th spot to play Seattle.

Tix on sale this Saturday though, and I'll get to at least 1 game. Win or lose, playoff basketball is exciting, and I would like the opportunity to see the best player on the planet right now (Timmy D) play in person.

Hey Rhyme, we need to meet up before a game. Even if we don't have tickets to the same game, I can drive down and meet up at ESPN or Brooklyn's or something. You post on Nuggets Talk right? If so, did you get to meet Rock last year? Dude's EXACTLY the same in person.

BTW, so far from what I've seen, Spurs fans have always been some of the best in the league. Like with any group, there are some dumbasses, but usually their boards are pretty knowledgable and their fans are damn cool.

Jazz, Wolves and Rockets fans (except Broncoman 13, he's cool) on the other hand.......

I say Spurs in 5 or 6, which pains me to admit. Playoff basketball is a different animal all together. For crying out loud, the Spurs are 38 -3 at home!

The thing I have noticed in the past few games that the refs are starting to get into playoff mode and it has hurt the Nuggets. They are allowing more physical play down low (Houston and Memphis were hacking all night long in the paint) and they are starting to give the super stars, which the Nuggs have none, more breaks. I mean did you see McGrady just look at the ref the other night and he immediately called a foul on the Wesley Person? It was ridiculous.

The Nuggets score in the paint and if the refs allow a team like San Antonio, Memphis or Houston to just hang out in there and push people around, the Nuggets can't make enough jumpers to win. I'm not complaining, just saying that the refs officiate different (not a secret) and I don't think it compliments the Nuggets game.

Phoenix would be in the same boat, IMO, except that they have the star power going for them. The refs won't let an MVP candidate like Nash get molested without a call.

This could be a series similiar to the 03 first round when the Spurs played the Suns. That teams reminds me of this one, a young, energetic team that could give the Spurs problems.

Spurs won that series in 6 and had to work every inch of the way to win.

The Nuggets, now withstanding the past two games, have won 24 out of 27 games. Its going to be critical for them to have Camby healthy and have him guarding TD. Hamstrings are always a dicey thing to play w/, especially in basketball.

Couldn't agree more bro. The team have just laid down and died in the last 2 games without their defensive leader and for all the hype re: Nene well I think he looks pretty ordinary right now!! To beat San Antonio, Denver need Camby fit first and foremost and need to be on top of their game for the entire series and on top of that they'll need a little help from the Spurs too!!

As a Spurs fan, I say good luck. I must disagree with the statement that the series is Denver's to lose as the Spurs DO 2 have fairly recent Titles, ARE the #2 seed even after TD was out, and are probably one of the top 2 fundamentally sound teams in the league. Denver is up and coming and the new coach has made a difference, but I still think it will be SA in 5 or 6.

The Spurs are a monster in the playoffs. I have seen it live and it is not pretty! I say Spurs in 5.

Reasons:
Spurs are built for the playoffs and Duncan is back. As Duncan goes, so go the playoffs.

Nuggs are inexperienced as a team this year in the playoffs. Alot of new guys on the team. They will probably take a couple of games to get acclimated and the Spurs are not the team to do that against.

# Game 2 - Wed April 27 Denver at San Antonio 6:00PM TNT/RSN
# Game 3 - Sat April 30 San Antonio at Denver 8:30PM ESPN/RSN
# Game 4 - Mon May 2 San Antonio at Denver
# Game 5 * Wed May 4 Denver at San Antonio
# Game 6 * Fri May 6 San Antonio at Denver
# Game 7 * Sun May 8 Denver at San Antonio

This blows for me. May 2nd I can go if it's a late start (8:30), but I have a final at 4:30 that afternoon (unless I can somehow get it changed -- doubtful). April 30th should happen. May 6th, if it does get played, won't happen for me as I have relatives in town for graduation.

As long as the Nuggets don't quit it's a win for me. Stars are made from up and coming players. The Nuggets don't have to win everything to make a statement that they will be back. They got in the playoffs. They should not give up regardless of who they face.

I think I read somewhere that some poster here said the Spurs took them lightly. That is not the CASE. They respect the Nuggets and know how dangerous of a team they are.

Pop respects the game and coach Karl. Actually he is decent friends w/ him cuz when Pop broke into the game, he went to UNC to pick the brain of one Dean Smith and Karl was there along with Larry Brown.

I'm not suprised at all that the Nuggets won. People always talk about Defense wins championships, which they do, but you have to make your shots to.

Spurs didnt hit a field goal for about 11 minutes in the fourth. And Denver made the shots they needed to win.

I've said repeatedly that I'm not jumping on the Nug's wagon...and I'm not. Although I did come out of my chair when Miller hit that halfcourt shot. It was huge.

One thing I've noticed about the Nuggets is that Karl has them playing without fear, and without too much respect for their opponents. Add that to their overall athleticism, and you have one dangerous team.

As long as Karl can keep them believing...they'll be tough to beat. Winning on the road against a team as good as the Spurs...does not hurt them at all.

The Spurs are in for one hell of a fight...and the pressure is all on them. Karl can turn his horses loose...and let them have fun.

All Nuggets fans should bow down and kiss the feet of Kroenke for being smart enough to bring the great Kiki back home.

Congrats Nuggets fans...hope your team keeps it up.

C'mon Pendejo... you don't have to jump on the wagon. But just kind of walk along beside. Get a couple hands on the edge. Just a little boost. And there you are. Now that wasn't hard was it?
