Just wondering what your guys opinions are on this. Seems to me that every year we pick up some talented people in the later rounds (read: 2nd day of draft) that could make a contribution, but they come in for 1 season and then are off to another team.
So who do you think are some we shouldn't have let get away? I personally don't think we should have let Kevin Kasper go, he was playing pretty well before he ended up in Seattle and then went to Arizona.

If Kevin Kasper is the best you can come up with, don't waste the Cyber Ink. Ted Washington is the player we never should of let go, but it appeared his knees were so shot we took what we could get.
The best players not currently on a Denver roster include Brian Griese, Tory James was effective for awhile in Oakland, Billy Miller has had a career. But mostly, Denver rejects haven't seen the lights turn on elsewhere.

Good call...KK is the Shanahandjob answer to the Tim Dwight guestion...never going to happen. Brian Griese as a best player? I'll agree with Tory James/should-still-be-a-bronco...other than that I guess the Broncos are keeping the right players.
Nate Wayne is an also-ran, IMO. Any current Bronco, including the special-teamer-of-the-century Burns, is as good as or better than Nate Wayne.

He wasn't the best I could come up with, just someone I thought of off hand who was recent. I agree with the Ted Washington one though, we should have kept him.

Didn't he make the Pro Bowl last year with Cincy as well? He would be a quality guy to have right now. Ironically, one of the few decent CB picks we've made.

Didn't Ted Washington break his leg just before he left Denver? (memory fuzzy)
If so, many teams would have given up on a guy of that size and age with that injury.

Patrick Jeffers blossomed after Denver...for awhile at least.

Damn! I don't even remember Ted Washington being here. I'd have to say Montae Reagor.

So basically Denver was supposed to wait 5 seasons of Tory not doing much until he finally became a player on the 2nd team he's played for after he left Denver?
Yeah. I'm sure if Denver had kept Tory for 2 seasons after he'd left Denver people would have been bitching and wanting to know why Shanahan still had him on the roster.

I dunno about that….I never wanted him to leave…he could’ve started for us this whole time.

If you put it in comparison to what we have salvaged from other teams cast off, I would say the Scale would tip dramatically in our favor...Eddie Mac would have to lead the list.

yeah he has always been quality. But much like kennoy, they just decided they had the depth to move on without him.

well judging by our corners since the superbowl years….I’d say they were wrong about James………Tory is better than Deltha and Herndon
I think they were worried about his knee Dale Carter ruined

Nate Wayne was released because he was a street free agent and he was outplaying Gold and Mobley.

Wayne was released, resigned and released again shortly afterwards. That's when he signed with Green Bay.

I seem to remember a drug suspension that created a roster exemption last year for four weeks and then once he came back from his suspension...? I think he was released but I'm not 100%.

Billy Miller, Tre Teague, Nate Wayne all 7th rounders who ended up starting elsewhere.
David Bowens, Clark and Jeffers were 5th/6th round picks, all saw decent playing time on other teams.
Both James and Reagor were 2nd round picks and IMO that comes no-where near late round gem status!!

I think Madise had alot of potential, but his drug suspension put him on the wrong track. Last I saw he had signed on with Tampa Bay (may have been the practice squad, but not sure) and he hasn't done anything since.
Also not sure where he was drafted, but what about Darrius Johnson?

Denver still has 7 of it's own 7th round draft picks on the roster. Can anyone name them all?

Bronco admin workers suspected David Bowens was stealing office equipment (read that: computers & electronics) so his home boys could auction it off on e-Bay...I think it was e-Bay
Problem was, beyond the fact that he was a thief...much of the stuff had the "Bronco Property' stencil on it which no-one bothered to remove.
('Stupid' has a whole new meaning when talking about these guys)
Two of his buds ended up paying the Broncos a tidy sum, but Bowens always denied giving it to them to sell, and no-one rolled, so he escaped criminal prosecution
He was, however, dispatched rather quickly, but I'm not sure where...I know he plays for Miami now

I'm pretty sure he broke his leg before the Donks picked him up. He was with 'Frisco if memory serves. It was a pretty severe break.

Dale Carter threw his infamous cheap shot on Lionel Washington.
I'm about 98% positive that Tory James blew out his knew in a preseason game against the Bills...It sucked too because he really showed promise...the season turned out alright for the Donks though as they went on to beat both the Chiefs and the Steelers on the road en route to a thrilling victory over Favre's Pack in the Superbowl.

Thanks Wabbit. I'd heard that Bowens kept borrowing large sums of money from teammates, and didn't pay it back. It was causing trouble in lockerroom...so they got rid of him.
Your revelation makes far more since...
