absolutely ridiculous. "I was frustrated that my elbow wasn't healing." Quit with the bleeding heart routine. He was going in the 2nd or 3rd with the elbow problem, now he'll be lucky to go in the fifth.

Guarantee that this won't hurt his draft status much at all, if at all.

He might be available in our third round comp picks now. I wouldn't mind trying him out.

you never know, teams might take more into consideration how strong he is now.

The steroid use isn't scaring any team off.... what might cause a problem is opening his big mouth and telling everyone about it.

Well it was released to all the teams and they all knew about it, so he might as well come clean about it.
At least he admitted to it, more then we can say about Bonds, McGwire, etc.

You know.... I say "props to the kid for being honest" on one hand... and, on the other, 'roiding up to do better at the combine has to send up red flags galore.

My bad i misread that article... My revised statement is:
The steroids aren't scaring the them off.... The fact that this half wit took "Andro" in hopes of healing an injury is scaring the hell out of them.

Yep...he'll probably plummet. I'd grab him in a second if he's still there in the 6th.

He wont make it out of day 1, he's still going to be a 2nd-3rd round pick, this won't effect his status that much.

You don't think so? I think with all the attention steriods have been getting--congress getting involved and such--the PR side of things will scare teams away and cause him to drop to the second day. Hell, I'd take him with one of our comp picks if he were still available.

For one, he admitted to it and stated that it was due to his elbow problems, he sent it to every team in the league to let them know of it.
Second, the guy has never been a problem on or off the field at Northwestern, his character isn't an issue whatsoever. He also sent his drug tests results during his 4 years at Northwestern in and he never once came up positive, he has passed every drug test that at least indicates that he never used steroids prior to this incident.
I personally think teams will look at him as a good person, great player, with a very high character and are willing to to say that the guy just made a mistake and was willing to admit it as well, I doubt it will hurt his draft status once NFL teams look at the whole perspective.

Isn't this the guy who was talked about as being possibly the best DT in the draft after that FSU guy turned a lot of scouts off? If so yeah, he's really hurt his stock. I'd say he's now at best a late second/early 3rd.

Normally I'd agree with you, but I think the steriod witch-hunt on Capitol Hill may scare teams off. They may fear a back-lash from the "morals and values" folks. You know, "What kind of example are you setting for the children", etc...We'll see, I guess.

It might scare some teams off, but I don't think it'll be that drastic to where he was a projected 2nd round pick and now he'll end up in round 6, he may drop some but I would be surprised to see him still on the board at the start of day 2.

I imagine you're right...but I think it may cause him to slide into the third...hopefully to one of our comp picks. ;D

You say that like "people with morals" are some small cabal of ten ploting in a cave. I'm one of the "morals and values" people you refer to so warmly, and I'd wager that a few head coaches are "morals and values" people as well. If you're against cheating, this doesn't look good. If you're for cheating, it raises questions about his ability to do so without getting caught. Either way, I'd think it doesn't bode well for him.

I don't mean to imply that morals and values are bad...quite the contrary. By "morals and values" folks, I mean people who divert attention from serious problems by lobbying to have gay marriage banned and having congress hold lavish hearings on steriods. In other words, people who aren't interested in *real* morals and vaules, only their fear-driven causes. Hence the use of quotation marks. And for the record, it sickens to me to think of a dirty cheater like Bonds breaking an honest man's (Hank Aaron) record. I just don't think the goverment needs to be involved.

While I disagree that Gay marriage isn't a moral issue, at least we can agree on this.
In some ways I'm glad its happening, though, because maybe something will happen where baseball will become competitive again and not just a fight between the richest franchises and juicing players.

I took roids. If I didn't I bet I would be dead too. I had mono and it was pretty bad so the gave me roids to try and stop it from swelling my throat shut. Lucky for me it worked. I wasn't liking the idea of having them cutting up my throat.

Yup, it's a moral issue. It's immoral that one person's religious beliefs outweigh another's civil rights. :-)

It was. And I'm sorry you feel that way. As soon as the nation's majority agrees with you, things will change.

Are any of the aspiring future NFLers exposed to drug testing between leaving school and getting drafted?
Recently, I wondered if NFL prospects took steroids during this window to enhance their draft status.
I am not implying Mike Mamula did steroids, but everybody remembers his Herculean combine that bumped into the top dozen picks with a huge signing bonus.

The term Steroids is mis understood. If you use Flonase or other similar allergy medicine, you are using steroids but they are not the same as the kind under fire.
I also saw today that Hawthorne the DT from Wisconsin was one of four who tested positive for weed at the combine.
Not sure how this will impact either player nor am I sure how it fits with Bowlen's "Thou shalt not sign/draft or employee any player, coach or front office personnel who sheds a bad light on the NFL's image" edict.

That's true but using "Ando" or any of it's cousins is laughable for a joint injury!

Not to turn this into a political discussion, but the "majority" often believe things that are flat ignorant. For instance, the "majority" of Southerns favored segregation in the 50s. Fortunately, there are laws to protect an individuals rights against said majority. Somebody give me one logical reason how allowing gays to marry is going to have a negative impact on "traditional" marriage. Just one.

The roids he used would not have made him any stronger or faster it would just help his elbow heal faster. That was what was reported on the Mike & Mike show on espn radio this morning.
