ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- A Monday Night Football contest at home against the Kansas City Chiefs, a prime-time trip to Buffalo and the franchise's first Thanksgiving Day game in four years highlight the Broncos' 2005 regular-season schedule, which was released by the NFL on Wednesday.

Denver plays four nationally televised games, but only two of them are in prime time -- the Week 3 MNF game against Kansas City and a Week 15 Saturday night game at Buffalo that will air on ESPN. The other two games will be broadcast by CBS -- the Thanksgiving Day game at Dallas and a New Year's Eve showdown at San Diego to close the regular season.

Five daytime games are designated as the primary national game for their respective weeks -- Oct. 16 at home against New England, Oct. 23 at the New York Giants, Oct. 30 at home against Philadelphia, Nov. 20 at home against the New York Jets and Dec. 24 at home against Oakland.

That Oakland game is on a Saturday, along with most of the NFL's games, a common practice when Christmas falls on a Sunday as it does this year. The last time that happened was in 1994; the Broncos played on a Christmas Eve Saturday that year and fell to the New Orleans Saints 30-28.

The NFL's scheduling rotation ensures that the Broncos know who 14 of their 16 opponents will be for each season until 2009. The final two opponents are determined by the standings. This year, the last two opponents to be added to Denver's slate were the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens, both of whom finished in second place in their respective divisions, as the Broncos did in the AFC West.

Other highlights of this year's schedule include ...

Three consecutive Saturday games for the first time in franchise history;
An appearance on Monday Night Football for the 14th straight season and 21st in the last 22;
A fourth December trip to Kansas City in the past five years;
The first trips for the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles to INVESCO Field at Mile High;
Denver's first regular-season game on Christmas Eve since 1995 and its first-ever regular-season game on New Year's Eve;
The Broncos' only game at the New York Giants this decade;
A November bye week for the fourth consecutive season.

Well looks like Im heading to Denver for a Monday night Chefs game. First thing that jumps out at me Im happy to start the year In Miami. We struggle there obviously but this will give Shanny some extra time to put togather a game plan. That last game could be HUGE.

My thoughts:
-I hate going to KC in December!
-Only 3 home games in the 2nd half.
-Another late bye week (after 12 games).
-I see 9 maybe 10 wins here.

we'll split w/kc again. probably w/oakland, too. we'll sweep san diego (c'mon, you know we will). we'll lose one of the games in florida, probably in jagoffland, and we'll win at least one of those home games against philly and new england--count me an optimist, but i'm thinking we'll take both of them. and we'll lose in buffalo. i'm thinking 11-5.

and Orageforce 1 make the trip again, that was a lot of fun. Seems to be a trend though with KC here early and us there late. Can anyone remember us playing in Buffalo early in the season? I would have thought either the NE game or the Philly game would have been Sun. or Mon night games.

Well at first glance this is promising. I like the fact that we have some of the tougher games at home. Jets, Ravens, Pats, Eagles. I like the fact that we have a nice home stretch to open the season. We always seem to open up the season with wins.

As far as OF1 goes I think the first road trip we would make it to would be the NY Giants game. B-love has some connections out there and I think and East Coast Omane gathering would be killer and is overdue! I'm also thrilled about the Dallas game Nov 24th and the KC game Dec 4th. We will be at both of those. We can roll on down to Dallas cook some turkeys down there, beat on the Cowboys, hang out, then take our time getting to KC for a rematch on our way back home to Denver!

I doubt we would double back to NY for Buffalo but there is no way OF1 will miss the final game in sunny SD to close out the season!

I'm not ruling out Oakland either. :boxing: Hopefully we'll have the bullet proof windows in place by then. :)

Looks like I need to get cracking in the tailgate forum to set up the threads!

*edit* at second glance it would be cool to make a run for Miami for the home opener but it's too early to say.

I like that schedule. I at first didn't want Denver to play on Thanksgiving since the Cowboys have a big advantage BUT they go an take care of business against the Cowboys and then they have 10 days to rest up to play the Chefs. It's also an early December game maybe mother nature will cut Denver a break this year and be fairly mild.

I like playing Miami early giving Mike and company time to prepare to play somewhere that we usually dont do well. The Jags game sucks

The KC game is another one where Mike will have time to come up with an outstanding game plan and Holmes will be burnt by then. The Buffalo game sucks because its late in the year in Buffalo but also right before the faid and chargers game which may very well make it a must win.

Good point yet still he has time to prepare and get togather a game plan which the players have time to diguest. The fact they will be running a new system is in our benifit. Better to catch them working out the kinks then in week 14 when the players have a better understanding of the new system.

Yeah going to Miami in the heat of the summer sucks but they will have some practice in their last preseason game here in Tempe. Sundevil stadium is the hottest stadium if not place on earth. Miami has humidity to deal with along with heat. I think that Jacksonville isn't quite as hot as Miami but its still probably humid as hell.

It was on the main page about an hour ago as the "main story item." Maybe the NFL got pissed that they released it sooner than the 2:00est time that the league had announced, so they removed it? Either way, it was up there and it's correct. I remember Denver's site did this last year too. Some of these game that look real tough, won't look so tough anymore when they actually happen.

Teams have a way of looking more unbeatable in the offseason than the regular season.

Like last year .... I was real worried when i saw that Carolina game on the sched.

By the time they got to town .... They were struggling, Stephen Davis and Steve Smith were out, Foster lasted one quarter, and K. Jenkins was trying to play with one working arm.

We didn't exactly blow them out, but it was a much different matchup than what i had anticipated when the schedule came out.

From the opposite standpoint though .... though they wouldn't admit it, KC in Denver for an early season game on MNF is already getting counted as a loss in the back of a lot of Chiefs fans minds.

Yeah, but that works both ways. I didn't think that Atlanta would be that tough. Nor was I worried about San Diego going 12 - 4. In reality, nearly all games in the NFL are tough these days because they have leveled the playing field so much.

It sure would help if we could get our home field advantage back, especially considering that our toughest games (Eagles, Pats, Ravens) are at home. I'd rather play in Buffalo and Jax than any of those places.

Wow.

Gonna be hard to make it out to Denver this yr. I was really hoping the raider game would fall over Turkey-Day again...gotta get this bad taste out of my mouth. Christmas eve..eh...that's a little too hard.

Maybe I'll make the trek to Buffalo for the Saturday night game.

All in all, I like the schedule considering we already knew who we played.

Skin fans are gonna be looking for 2 things to happen there in order for them to gain a sublime pleasure at our expense.

1. For the Pat Ramsey - Santana Moss connection to make Champ Bailey look like Tito Paul.

2. For Clinton Portis to run like its 2003 and he's playing the Chiefs.

I predict Moss catches 2 balls for 16 yards and CP runs for 70 yards on 20 carries .... If something like that happens (along with a Denver win) i'll be living on the extremeskins board for the following week.

It's a lot easier for me to guess another 10-6 record when i look at the schedule, but the way things have gone the last 2 years .... 10-6 would almost be looked upon as a failure ( unless it wins the division ).

I think that the pressure is on Shanahan to get this team at least 11 wins .... and i just have a feeling that he will find a way to deliver it this year.

BRONCOS EAGLES BREAK RANKS, RELEASE SCHEDULES EARLY

BRONCOS RELEASE SCHEDULE EARLY

The Denver Broncos have upstaged the NFL, releasing their schedule more than an hour prior to the "official" unveiling of the NFL's schedule of games on the NFL Network.

Ditto for the Eagles, whose schedule was up as of 1:25 p.m. EDT, and possibly earlier.

The Packers also have given fans a peek at their schedule, announcing that they have back-to-back home games on Christmas Day (Bears) and New Year's Day (Seahawks), and that they play three Monday night games, against the Vikings, Ravens, and Panthers.

The other 30 teams, as far as we can tell, have complied with the league's edict to make like Sgt. Schulz until the NFL-owned television channel can break the news.

We can't afford to split the division. We have to sweep at least one of the series. I doubt it will be Raiders with that WR core. Chargers are going to be good again and plus they have a lot picks to reload even more. That leaves the Chiefs. If they improve the D, I still don't think they have, then that could be a problem. But unless we tank it again I think they are the best chance we have to sweep.

The whole Drew Brees - Philip Rivers quandry will evaporate this year, when Drew Brees starts to play like his former self again. The QB contoversy will reappear next offseason when it turns out that Philip Rivers sucks too.

I think this is fair. I believe San Diego will suffer a setback this year like Dallas did last year. They had a good run with some new schemes and faces, but that advantage only lasts so long. They haven't done anything significant to improve this offseason, even with 2 first round picks. They were very pedestrian against Denver last year and Oakland and KC caught up at the end of the year. I wouldn't be suprised to see San Diego finish 4th in the AFC West.

no. how can you blame the coach for doing something that is standard? if you are in field goal range, and want to move the ball to more centerfield, you run the ball. elam makes a fieldgoal, broncos would still run the ball. the only difference in the score would be 9-7 instead of 7-6.

*edit* at second glance it would be cool to make a run for Miami for the home opener but it's too early to say.

we have 8 home games jsut like everyone else. We jsut need to go 12-0 adn then slug it out and stay healthy the rest of the way and hopefully grab 2 of the last 4 games (particularly the last game at SD) and we'll have home field advantage.

I want to beat the Ravens bad just to get that monkey off our back. We got to take care of both florida teams on the road early and knock off San Diego and KC at home to set the tone for the season and build up some buffer for the late season difficulties. I like it that we have two home games after the opener amd that we play Chokland right ofter our bye which is at a great spot at mid season again. Also, though we have a short week before going to Dallas. If we win teh Turkey day game and stay healthy it wil lbe a big plus as we get another mini-bye of 10 days to rest up and game plan before going to KC and the last 5 game stetch, and those extra 3 days of rest and practice will give us a real advantage to offset playing in Arrowhead to a degree.

The only way we lose the last game in SD is if we are 15-0 going in and rest our starters. :)

Three consecutive Saturday games for the first time in franchise history;
An appearance on Monday Night Football for the 14th straight season and 21st in the last 22;
A fourth December trip to Kansas City in the past five years;
The first trips for the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles to INVESCO Field at Mile High;
Denver's first regular-season game on Christmas Eve since 1995 and its first-ever regular-season game on New Year's Eve;
The Broncos' only game at the New York Giants this decade;
A November bye week for the fourth consecutive season.

The only way we lose the last game in SD is if we are 15-0 going in and rest our starters.

Hogan, Blueflame, Mr. Blue and I are undefeated when we go to a Bronco game....
We'll take care of the San Diego game and the home KC game ;D
yeah...i've got the Wash game and the NYG game locked up. the Broncos have a 1.000 winning percentage when i am in attendance. (yeah it's only 1-0, but still, they're undefeated.)

Me and my older brother are making plans to go up to the Buffalo game. It's up in the air right now, but i would love to go.

Yeah we play three Saturdays in a row.

I guess that means we'll catch the last two opponents coming off short weeks then. Pretty nice.

The schedule could put us at 10-6 again or 12-4. IF we play things like years past we'll find ways to drop games against NE, NYG's, and Buffalo.

This is a new year though. We have a revamped defense by every sense of the word and we have our offense finally showing some continuity this year vs. the past couple years transitioning our half-back position and wide-receiver positions.

2005 REGULAR-SEASON SCHEDULE
WEEK DAY DATE OPPONENT SITE TIME TV

1 Sun. Sept. 11 at Miami Dolphins Stadium 1 p.m. EDT CBS
Win- I see this being a locked up defensive struggle. Miami is always fast on defense early in the year. I see us coming out and doing just enough to score more points then the fins and hold out their less than potent offense.

2 Sun. Sept. 18 SAN DIEGO INVESCO Field at Mile High 2:15 p.m. MDT CBS
Win- Bottom line is we own SD in our house. LT disappears and so do the Chargers.

3 Mon.. Sept. 26 KANSAS CITY INVESCO Field at Mile High 7 p.m. MDT ABC
Win- Rivalry game. I'll be predicting every division team will hold down wins at their house.

4 Sun. Oct. 2 at Jacksonville ALLTEL Stadium 1 p.m. EDT CBS
Win- We get $hit right this time. I still don't think the Jags have enough offense. I hope George Foster pancakes Reggie Hayward 9 or 10 times. Punch him in the balls while you are at it George.

5 Sun. Oct. 9 WASHINGTON INVESCO Field at Mile High 2:15 p.m. MDT FOX
Win- CP's return to Denver. Well... they have him and not much else. Who is the QB? Who are going to be the WR's? Even the defense is in shambles. Gibbs still has a lot of work to do.

6 Sun. Oct. 16 NEW ENGLAND INVESCO Field at Mile High 2:15 p.m. MDT CBS *
Win- I don't care. Call me a homer. I still think that Mike Shanahan is in Bill Bellicheck's head. Great news by the way! Jake will be playing this game, not Danny Kanell and Deltha O'Neal is now giving away TD's in Cincy.

7 Sun. Oct. 23 at N.Y. Giants Giants Stadium 4:15 p.m. EDT CBS *
Loss- This would be our normal mid-season, lose to a team that is nowhere near as good as you game. I bet Eli gets hot and throws for a bunch of yards. I don't know, this just raises a red flag to me.

8 Sun. Oct. 30 PHILADELPHIA INVESCO Field at Mile High 2:15 p.m. MST FOX *
Loss- We always start fast and fade... well, here comes our 2nd loss in as many weeks staying right on schedule. We seem to have problem with QB's who can take games into their own hands. Well, McNabb is that type of guy.

9 BYE
10 Sun. Nov. 13 at Oakland Network Associates Coliseum 1:05 p.m. PST CBS
Loss- I think we can win but I'll show Oakland some respect for the rivalry and their house.

11 Sun. Nov. 20 N.Y. JETS INVESCO Field at Mile High 2:15 p.m. CST CBS *
Win- Bounce-back game. I just we match up very well against the Jets. Martin is old, and we are fast. Pennington really doesn't stretch fields all that well and I think we capitilize on good matchups against this team.

12 Thu. Nov. 24 at Dallas Texas Stadium 3:15 p.m. CST CBS
Win- We've had the luxury of playing on thanksgiving two out of the last 6 years. Both wins. Dallas doesn't have enough to beat us. With who at QB? Bledsoe? LMAO! We owned him at NE and we'll take him down here.

13 Sun. Dec. 4 at Kansas City Arrowhead Stadium 3:15 p.m. CST CBS
Loss- I hate the league schedule makers for having us go out to KC AGAIN in December. F' you guys! We never play well in December at CamaroHead stadium.

14 Sun. Dec. 11 BALTIMORE INVESCO Field at Mile High 2:15 p.m. MST CBS
WIN!- Okay, here is my one prediction of the year i'm going to follow. I think we break the curse this year. We have been all used up by Baltimore over the beginning of this decade... NO MORE! I think we have a whole bunch of new players that aren't accustomed to losing to Baltimore and we finally turn it around. Our defense is going to hound Jamaal Lewis and Kyle Boller suck major ass.

15 Sat. Dec. 17 at Buffalo Ralph Wilson Stadium 8:30 p.m. EST ESPN
Win- I think the Bills are primed for a fall this year. They hope Losman is ready. I don't think he is.

16 Sat. Dec. 24 OAKLAND INVESCO Field at Mile High 2:15 p.m. CST CBS *
Win- Paybacks are a bitch. If the Raiders haven't been eliminated yet from contention, they are now. We don't leave it to our kicker to win it, we blow them out from the get-go.

17 Sun. Dec. 31 at San Diego Qualcomm Stadium 1:30 p.m. PST CBS
Win- I think SD is primed for a fall this year. Just my feeling. We sweep the season series. We should have last year as well but we CHOKED.

12-4. Wishful thinking maybe. We could easily drop games to Baltimore and NE and wind up 10-6 again. I think this year should be different however. I think we take a couple steps forward by winning our division and heading to the playoffs possibly with some sort of home field advantage.

the schedule could be better, but it could also be alot worse.

my biggest issue right now is the three saturday games that close it out.
thats a royal pain in the butt for me since saturday is my biggest work day.

12-4 guys. write it down, it will happen.

slap, are you still going to say 6-10?

offseason moves have been a success at this point, and i hope to see one more acquisition, and my guess would be a corner.
draft a guard and receiver, and we're ready to rock.

superbowl bound.

only one MNF? good, I hate night games.

And the turkey day game! Excellant. My family can go see friends, and I'll stay home get drunk and download porn

That sunday night game looks bad for Mon morning though.

I don't like going to Miami that early in the year. The heat & humidity could be taxing.

Then we go right back down to Florida three weeks later.

It's always tough playing Dallas or Detroit on Thanksgiving, because you've only got 4 days to get ready. At least our game on the 20th is at home.

I don't like starting AND ending the season on the road.

On the plus side, the week 9 BYE is a good time to get it. Breaks the regular season right in half. And we only have one set of back-to-back road games.
