ESPN is reporting on Tuesday that Terrell Owens took a verbal swipe at Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb for his performance in Super Bowl XXXIX against the New England Patriots.

According to the interview, Owens said he "wasn't the guy who got tired in the Super Bowl," a reference to media reports that claimed McNabb was either ill or tired late in the fourth quarter of the Eagles' 24-21 loss to the Patriots.

McNabb has denied those reports, but several offensive linemen said that McNabb appeared ill and that receiver Freddie Mitchell was forced to call a play in the huddle. Eagles coach Andy Reid also denied that McNabb was ill.

Owens' comment to ESPN will most likely ignite the controversy again, which will not please either McNabb or Reid.

Owens recently switched agents, hiring Drew Rosenhaus and prompting speculation that he wanted to redo the seven-year, $49 million contract he signed with the team last season after being acquired from San Francisco.

Owens neither confirmed nor denied that in his interview with ESPN.

"As always, there is a lot written and (said) without anyone talking to me," Owens said. "I mean, I can't do right and I can't do wrong. It's getting, in some ways, like it was for me in San Francisco. But the one thing that won't change is that I'm going to show up to play and to win. No one can ever (debate) that."

In his first season with the Eagles, Owens caught 77 passes for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns.

With all the talent TO brings on the field, why does he act like such an idiot off it??

just dont make sense, and the thing about it is, TO is just too good a player to release or trade for such nonsense

When will people learn you can't change a tigers stripes. TO is TO. What, did the Eagles think he would change just because he changed teams. Once an a**hole always an a**hole.

Hmmmm…I’ll believe it when I see it in a credible source….not hearsay…T.O. always gets a bad rap, but all he does is work hard and play hard.

Sure he criticized Jeff Garcia, but man, looking at Jeffy w/o T.O., maybe T.O. was right about him

Sure he dances…who cares, big freakin’ deal.

All TO said to me he wasnt the one who got tired at the end of the Super Bowl. That may be a direct slap to McNabb, but even some of his offensive lineman said he looked tired and couldve been ill.

TO shouldn't be bad mouthing McNabb. TO was very good with the Niners, but with McNabb he was an MVP type player. TO probably thinks that he helped McNabb's game more than McNabb helped his. Last I checked McNabb was a key member of a team that went to 4 NFC title games, and McNabb got to the Super Bowl without TO.

As for McNabb's Super Bowl performance. He should have been tired. He was running for his life because his O line didn't block anybody.

TO was a great pickup for the Eagles, but I think they would have been better off upgrading their O line.

TO should have kept his mouth shut. After the Super Bowl he had earned a new respect. Even people that hated him had to give him credit for what he did in the Super Bowl. Now he's back to pissing people off again.

I would certainly say that is fair...He had posted big WR type numbers before McNabb....McNabb had never posted big time QB numbers before TO. He got wins before TO but that had every bit as much to to with their highly rated defense year in and year out.

If TO can come off a broken leg and play in the Super Bowl at a high level and be in great shape then him expecting his QB to do the same isn't too much to ask.

What TO said was "I'm not the one who got tired during the game." Directly blaming Mcnabb for the loss. Saying that he infers "I didn't lose the game, I wasn't the one who was tired."

He is a dick

you beat me to it.

YEAH the thing with him is he loves drama, in this case, he should just watched what he said.

It seems like McNabb is the sensitve type (aren't we all) and this may cause issues.

Maybe this is the begining of TO wanting out of Philly.

anyway McNabb should just say "hell yeah I felt like sh*t, but fu*k no im not using it as an excuse"

that way the issue is no longer an issue ;)

McNabb put up some good numbers in the playoffs without TO.

Before TO got hurt, TO was on pace to set career highs in yards and TDs. I'd say having McNabb helped him out. If he was still on the Niners, or on the Ravens, no way he puts up those numbers.

Ha ha. TO is a selfish clown. BUT, the Egirls got what they deserve. A selfish clown crying for more money. They should have known he'd pull this sh*t before they signed him, but they chose to ignore his tirades with the 9ers and refusal to sign with the Ratbirds.

I think he was getting worried his name hadn't been in the news for awhile, and he had to think of something to do to get the attention again.

What a drama queen.

True, but T.O blew off the Ravens to come play for the Eagles and if he did say these things ( which isnt beyond him ) then i dont understand it. but i do wonder man, had we had T.O here when John was in the Super Bowl against the niners would you still sit by while he badmouthed John? my problem with T.O is that he just doesnt think his sh!t stinks but he is always the source root of bad karma.

kind of like that kicker for the colts. mike vanderjagt. except he not only pisses his team off, he gives the other team a boost. alos, at least TO backs up his mouth...unlike Freddie Mitchell, who is an average receiver at best and thinks that he is God's gift to quarterbacks.

As stupid as TO is, I'd still like to know what the deal was with the ho-hum attitude during that last drive. Were they all tired, or did they just not have a game plan for that situation? No one can deny the Eagles looked lathargic at the end.

Kind of silly to say McNabb is sensitive. He's shrugged off stupid comments from people even dumber than TO.
