The big myth in the world of sports are the so-called "experts" and "insiders". True. these guys get paid a handsome fee to make phone calls and ask about this player and that coach and such. But they are spread thin and much of what they report are simply things that are safe and already established. The diehard fans, on the other hand, analyze performaces, scout players, sift thru stats, remember interviews and generally get a more comnprehensive feel for a team of their choosing. It's these fans who concentrate on that single team and put most everything through a rigourous reasonable-ness test.

I agree. I think the Mane has done a better job analyzing the Broncos neeeds and wants better than any Draft service. We don't agree on the picks but we do know what we are talking about. So Props to everyone for making this an interesting offseason. Of course Shanny always does his share to make sure that we have plenty to talk about and discuss.

I dunno.
It is all paper talk for the most part. Have any of the 'fill_in_the_blank' advocates that post on here SEEN the player in question play? Not just the team....but watched game film of him specifically? Or been to a game where they keyed on nothing but him for the entire game...and then did that over the course of a season or a college career?
I would bet very rarely...unless the person being pimped just happens to be a great player on your favorite college team...like DJ was for SoCal.
Most of the analysis thrown around here as knowledge comes from stats...combine #...other peoples draft info...
Not that there is anything wrong with that...but to compare it to people whose job it is to break down game tape...listen/conduct interviews...get 1st hand info of them as a competitor...is silly.
The Mane might compare to an internet based draft service that has 3 employees and is not part of the NFL inner circle...but to consider the 'analysis' posted here as people knowing these prospects is a reach IMHO.
I gaurentee you that SOMEBODY here will be right when it comes to who Denver picks at #25. (we have named every player under the sun)...and when that happens..that person will tell us all that he has been talking up so and so for months....and he obviously knows what he is talking about..and is shocked that nobody else listened to him.

I think Mike should read the mane everyday to get a good inside scoop about what he should be doing ;D

Well of course there is the instance where others suggested someone who turns out better. Then they get to bring it up for years that the player they wanted was far superior to the one we chose.

this season...unlike the past...I'm not for any one guy in the draft...I find it mind numbing. But I enjoy the musings of others on the subject. I've been pushy as of late, but I can't wait to get the draft on.

I hate the 'I told you so' game.....it gets old...the people that were up on the Portis trade last year had a bunch of street credit this year....and it just melted away.

I would also like to thank all the people on the mane for sharing thier inside info. I do not live in denver and its hard for me to keep up with the broncos and this site does a good job with that department.

Well, my top three picks for the Broncs in the first round are Pollack Spears and Shaun Cody. I have seen them all at least once in person and multiple times on TV.

I don't mind it. If someone early on says his guy and the Broncos draft him. Hell Come on in and Crow about it!!! It's not easy predicting who Shanny likes. I'll be repping the person who can think like Shanny

You're right. None of us really know ALL the players up for grabs in the draft. Most of us have seen a few here and there and mainly rely on Prospect Analysis and Rankings. Like Atlas said, we are expects on our particular team but we don't get paid the money to have the time to analyze each player. So we can rely on experts and disagree on their mock drafts and use the knowledge of OUR team to form our opinion on what player would suit us best. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. And for your last paragraph, when Denver selects Brodney Poole at #25, I will say I told you so. I did like your post though, and that's no sarcasm. Take it easy.
