Haven't heard anything about Dan since Detroit were interested and had supposedly signed him until they then inked De Mulling to a deal.
If he's still available I'd love him back if the price is right i.e minimum vet contract and the fact that I havent seen a visit lined up anywhere for him could work in our favour.

It sounds nice and I like him. But, I think the Bronco staff considers him to be damaged goods and think they need to go more for youth and will find someone to develope in the draft. Hopefully!

Agree with you re:youth but I think if they could get him back for the minimum then it'll be a good insurance policy.

Detroit probably found out his knees were shot. I'm sure we have his number. Cooper seemed pretty solid.
Man, we seem to have a plan this week! We are picking up every first round bust in the NFL! Get Marcus Nash on the phone!

Signing him at a make good min is a no brainer. He is ten times the player Carlysle will ever be. Still need a developmental guy or two though as it appears Hamilton will be moving to C in a year or two and that is the most Neil has left.

I thought Carlisle was an upgrade when he came in.

At the vet min, Neil would be a great guy to have as backup/tutor to CC and whoever we hopefully draft. Right now though Carlisle provides more athletic ability and less penalty liability than Neil, who at this point is a grabber instead of a blocker.

That being said Carlisle will never come close to the player Neil was.
Baas on the other hand could make us all say Neil who?

One thing to keep in mind with interior O-linemen is that height is always a consideration...and taller is not always better....as a matter of fact, it never is in the eyes of Denver's coaching staff.
Plummer is listed on some rosters as 6-3. I'm 6-3 & I tower over Plummer...well, that's an exaggeration..I'm noticably taller than Plummer . I'm not sure he's all of 6-2.
Passing lanes become a real issue with QBs under...say...6-3 or so, and a 6-5 Guard can become a problem...doesn't matter how talented he is.
That's why, when evaluating who Denver is likely to select in the draft...consider the height. 6-4+ @ RG...ummmm...a stretch...Plummer can't see.
I'm not kidding on this point...it will be a major consideration.
Elton Brown is listed as 6-4+...Bass at 6-4. CJ Brooks from Maryland is a talented guy rated pretty highly by scouts. Problem is...he's 6-5+...a problem.
This is why...with no special insight...I will forcast a hard look at Chris Kemoeatu from Utah, Claude Terrell from New Mexico and/or Dan Buenning-Wisconsin early on...assuming they draft a G early on.
As a general rule...stick with guys 6-3...even 6-4 in height (Bass). THAT will be the Bronco OL Target.

Maybe that's the reason why Clabo is playing tackle for Hamburg in NFL Europe.

I totally agree Wabbit, and here is why.
The same thing happens with the running back. When you have Portis, yet alone a MIDGET like Q trying to read a block behind some behemoth like Mike Anderson or that Clodhopper Hape, how in the hell are you supposed to read blocks? Of course, Mike Anderson never could read blocks, when he got his 1500 we were giving him daylight that a bus could drive thru.
Give us a hungry Ron Dayne as fullback. God I hope they want him at FB. He's only 5/10 and built like a tank. Still, bring him back down to 240. He was as heavy as 270 at times early, and a pig out there.
I agree that we might be able to draft some OL cheap if we don't go for the physical freaks. Look, it's obvious we are in the long haul with Jake Plummer. That means roll outs, and the ability to zone block in passing, and the ability to let him find the passing lanes. Hamilton is the perfect example, altho he's too small for guard, he will be a great center.
I'm all for a medium sized line that can zone block, as long as they can use their footwork in unison and create a lane. The whole LOS doesn't have to be crushed. So what? I don't need 5 mules up front anyway, running or passing. ESPECIALLY with a speed back.
The one thing about Dayne is he was always used in the wrong dumbass scheme in NY under Hitler...err...the Coughlin guy. I have said this before, I don't really see the need for Hape or Anderson.
I will be more than happy with Bell, Q, with Dayne and Kyle Johnson. I don't remember how bad Dayne hurt his knee in 2003, but I have never seen a back used as poorly since Gibbs destroyed Portis.
Giving Plummer a fluid line with passing lanes on the move is CRUCIAL to Denver's success. Everyone knows Jake throws great on the run. Don't let him think too much in the pocket. I should be on the damn payroll.

You will remember that Jake bounced more than one pass attempt off the helmet of Cooper Carlisle last year.
He wasn't used to the taller G & the passing lane was clogged by HIS OWN MAN.
No, Denver scouts & coaches will take a guy in the 6-3 range...count on it.

Mock you think that will work? Dayne plays really soft. I don't think he is tough enough to play FB.

good analysis there Wabbit. Jake definatly isn't 6-3. He had numerous passes tipped last year. Sometimes he throws the ball sidearm which doesn't help.
I am 5' 11" and have stood next to Plummer a few times after the game under the tunnel and he is not much taller than I am. 6'1" is closer to it I think.

He's on a one year deal. There is no way he's playing FB. He came to Denver to rebuild his running back career not abandon it.

I think knee-bend has something to do with it, too, on both the OL and the QB. They said that Pat Sullivan of Auburn was about 3 feet tall when throwing the ball, due to his long stride.

I was thinking Ted Gregory could use a job abd he fits the bill fromer Denver draft pick and he was a first round pick.

One thing I like about Incognito is he is 6'3" 305 and thats the perfect size for our Oline. The other guards in the draft just seem so slow compared to his 4.90 40. If he wasn't such a peace of trash I would love him here.

Well he better get used to Cooper cos at this present time he's our starter!!
