April 2005 Fan Site of the Month -- The Orange Mane

If the award was given solely based on the number of votes received, The Orange Mane would have won in a landslide. Billing itself as "The Online Tailgate Party That Never Ends," the community site has a large and loyal following of Broncos fans who really know their stuff, and its the quality and quantity of the discussions that earned it our first ever Fan Site of the Month award.

Here are some of the comments from people who nominated the site:

"This site is home to the best Denver Broncos fans in the world. It has great discussions, good analysis, and is just a fun place to chill out and talk Broncos football. "

"The Orange Mane is frequented by Broncomaniacs from all over the country and abroad. By visiting the site on a daily basis, I stay caught up on the Broncos offseason happenings just by reading what the fans have to say about the team. No stone gets left unturned. This will undoubtedly create a lot of new users. Since TJ gets funding for this site based on users and them clicking on links we would serve our own interests if we were nice to the newbies. I'm being a hypocrite here as I have this much patience "" when it comes to newbies but still it should be pointed out.

It's all good... And yes, I encourage everyone to take a look at the Google bar above now and again. If you see something you might be interested in, click and take a look... It helps pay the bill here, and I need to figure out how to move us to a dedicated server to handle the growth.

I speculum that this site has grown beyond Taco's wildest expectations. People might notice that www.broncos.com started a new site of their own.

IMO, altho the site isn't earthshattering, it's certainly created a tremor that hasn't stopped. I can only assume, but I would gather that Taco vacilates between humility and outright egomaina like a more controled Ted Turner.

I have really enjoyed my 3 years here. I don't stir the pot as much as in the old days. We have seen some excellent posters come aboard during the past 3 years, to the point where flags have been picked up by Meck77, Heave07, Mediator12, Wabbit, Hercules, Philly, Slap, SoCal, DenFan...sorry if I'm leaving anyone out, the list is at least 500 long. Posters like TNS and PatsWin and even BYU bring perspective. Again, the list is too long to single out anyone but Taco John's steady hand.

So Cheers to the Mane, and hopefully, this year we can set GatorAide Manning on his ass in the playoffs.
