My best was a '62 Mercedes-Benz 220S. This was a big four-door sedan with a huge trunk. It had a 2.2L straight six with dual two-bbl carbs, single overhead cam, four speed on the column. And that car could do 110 mph all day long. Interesting was the acceleration available at high RPM. From 70-110 in 4th gear, that car leapt. Seated six and had a huge trunk.
It had 4 wheel independent suspension. The handling was superb, especially at high speeds. Had a factory sunroof. It averaged 24 MPG. That was one slick piece of automotive engineering.
Too bad it rusted out along the rocker panels. I'd still like to have that car today. Hard to argue with 24 MPG and performance in a car that seats six with a huge trunk.
"Look at that trunk you could put two or three bodies in there", who said it and what movie.
A 1969 GTO was my favorite car.

Well it was orginally my grandmothers, and she would only drive short distances to places like bingo and the grocery store and wouldnt drive it in the winter(would take public transportation instead.)
So, she passed away in 2000 and my grandpa doesnt have his license because his eyes are too bad to pass the eye exam, so he gave it to me since I was a ripe 18 year old with a license and no car, so I've had it since.
I got it with around 21,000 miles on it, and after a few years of driving it, it's up to over 49,000 miles, but still hasnt hit the 50,000 miles mark yet.
That's only because half of the time you drive in reverse

Are you saying you didn't have moments of enjoyment in that XKE? Was it a straight six or v-12?

Subaru actually makes some damn good machines. The parent company is "Fuji Heavy Industries." I mention that because the name has a nice ring to it. To me anyway.

My dad has a 1970 GTO, A 56 T-Bird, a 65 Caddy and a 92 T-Bird. I have to say I like the 56 T-Bird Convertible the best...it's Candy Apple Red with white leather interior.
My best ever 57 ford pick up with a 429 super CJ, that sucker was hot and fast! Like this truck alot better than the Lexus or Land Rover.
Best car ever.... Lamborghini Diablo, Blood red ofcourse.

I had a 69 Lemans with that 400 mouse motor. Jeepers that car was jumpy. I didn't like the car as well as a Cutlass, but it made the Cutlass rocket 350 seem pedestrian.
My favorite is still my 72 Cutlass Salon, Gold with White top and White Velour guts. That was a pretty car.

Lamborghini? What makes that better than a Ferarri V-12? Just a personal preference to you?
To me, if you want to talk exotics, the Mercedes-Benz 300SL is #1, the Ferrari V-12 pre-68 is #2. The Porsche 911 turbo I'd prefer to a Lamborghini just because of the braking power the Porsche has.
You like the Lamborghini, eh? Why?

We have a 1969 SS Nova that is pretty much 80 percent restored. That was a monster when it had the 482 in it. That car literally twisted on launch. I guess putting 525 ponies under the hood of a car designed to have a 4 cylinder might do that.
I also Liked my buddies chysler dogde hemmi

How about that new Ford GT? Based on the GT40 car that Enzo Ferarri pretty much had a stroke over 'cause it gave those superb V-12 tubular-frame cars he built all they could handle. Enzo Ferrari actually agreed to sell Ferrari to Ford because he thought they could dominate top-end racing for decades to come. Enzo backed out, and well he did, judging by the '69-96 Ford offerings. Ford got back to the big-time with the 4.6L DOHC Mustang V8 (nice engine), and now with the GT. But their chassis have a ways to go.

Well its just that the 2005 Mustang makes you forget all about the Mustangs from 1969 to 2004. And brought back that '66 feel.

Well I did not throw in the Vector because it was not a "real" production car, Nor did I add in any of the ltd production cars that were made to get classification at leMans (200 or less made) because that is not a real car a somewhat normal person will ever be able to afford. I have driven and crashed in a slant nose 935 Porsche, Driven a testarossa, 365, 246, 308, 400 ferrari and only sat in the Diablo and that was enough to sell me.... and at only $220,000.00 it is not out of the question one day.... I hope :) I guess it comes down to appearance and :in the pocket" appeal and the Diablo does it for me big time. Ferrari vs Lambo is the same as Blonde vs Brunette, Something for everyone.

Best car 65 chevy impala. Thing ran with a cracked distributor cap. Even with 100K, I'd stomp the accellerator on the interstate and go 50to80 in a heartbeat. My grandmother drove the thing back and forth from Denver to Bridgeport and Russell Nebraska ... fast. I laughed to the old beach boy's song little old lady from pasedena, she's the terror of colorado blvd. And she was. She lived up on 300 north Garfield, and booked it up and down colo blvd heading to I-25.
My fav car was a 80s Chevy Malibu with an 8cyl and an auto. nice stereo. My dad totaled it. Then I got the Impala.
Best car I ever totaled was my dad's 1967 Bonneville Grand Prix.
Trying to impress a girl I palmed a hard fast turn into a gas station and cleaned out three pumps. Luckily they got the fire out in a hurry or you may not have had the pleasure of reading this post.

I'm leaning towards a Toyota Tacoma, but I just priced one out as a 4 door with most options and it's very close to 30K!!! That's a lot of gash for a two wheel drive toyota pu. Damn. I thought I'd buy in a couple of years when my mazda starts dropping parts, so Little Girl Dog could have it when she hits 16 .... in 6 short years. Damn.
Mrs Dog wants to lose her Dad's Buick LeSabre she's been driving. She wanted an suv, so I'm glad she didn't make a move when gas was cheap.

We had a 67 Catalina with the 400 in it. What a cruiser. Next car was a 72 Electra with the big block.
Speaking of wrecking cars, I went thru 5 in my early days. On a date with some dimwited carney girl, she says, "we can catch air on this bump"...so I floor the '72 Cutlass to the floor and yes, we caught air...so much air the car landed back on an uphil slope and I totally sunk the frame. Freaking sparks were flying out the back, the fan was hitting the shroud and we literally it our heads on the cieling, TWICE. It bent up the whole car so it never drove right again. It literally moved the front clip up an inch. That was a fantasic car dammit.
