View Full Version : Still Waiting on Brown
Defensive end Courtney Brown kept his suitors in suspense for another day by informing them yesterday he needed more time, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos are considered the front-runners, although Brown has not ruled out the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This week, the Broncos told other NFL team officials Brown would choose them, while Coach Joe Gibbs expressed skepticism, noting the 27-year-old took two other trips after a visit to Redskins Park. Wednesday, Brown told teams he likely would make a decision by yesterday.
After Brown didn't choose the Broncos yesterday, one source said, Washington took it as a sign he was undecided.
According to a source who spoke to Brown yesterday, the top overall pick in the 2000 draft spent several hours Wednesday night and yesterday grilling agent Marvin Demoff with detailed questions about his options. Demoff, who also represents Gregg Williams -- Washington's assistant head coach of defense -- didn't return a call yesterday. Each suitor gave Brown, who has missed 33 games in five seasons, an offer with incentives tied to his health.
Gibbs and Vice President Vinny Cerrato were returning from the NFL owners meeting in Hawaii yesterday and couldn't be reached to comment.

Screw him, No longer interested. He's jerking with everyone now. Sounds like a head case to me. IF he cant make a clean decision after all this time I dont want to deal with his crap.
IF he had said he wouldnt have a decision until next week to begin with thats one thing and would be more understandable, but to keep adding teams to look at after saying it was just down to Denver and Washington and then saying that he would decide by now, and now getting cold feet says hes a chump, big time! It was just like I feared that if he didnt sign today that was going to be it.
Please sign with Washington Chump!

i will still be more than happy to take him. The guy is talented, its all a matter of health now. Shanny has been doing relatively poorly this offseason (oops, i guess im not a real bronco fan anymore right broncos love?) but the thing i liked was when he said yesterday alot of brown's compensation in the offer they made was tied to playing time. So we wont get burned if he goes Toviessi on us. Hopefully Courtney can stay healthy and reach the status that he was projected to reach coming out of Penn State. I will keep waiting no problem. I just hope its a matter of days, not weeks like the Hartwell saga with KC.

I like Brown, but I'm weary cuz of the injuries. But I wouldnt mind taking a flyer on him since there is ample playing time available here.
Shanny has missed out on a lot of his targets this offseason (Mike Leir, Garcia) and anyone else I'm forgetting.

I honestly don't care if we land Brown or not. I'm more concerned we will wait too long to sign Douglas and lose him too. If Brown was smart he will sign in Jax they have great DL he can spot play.

don't lose sleep over c. brown. don't care much about douglas either. if keeping trevor is our last resort, hey, by all means, man. don't care whose ego gets hurt. anyone knows if trevor is 100% healthy, anyway?

Looks like two of the last cards to fall will be Howard vs. Pryce, and Douglas vs. Brown.
If you look at the comment "Brown will be ours on thursday", once again I have to wonder WTF Denver is pulling it's head out of it's ass once again.
We lost Putz, nope we got him, we might still trade him.
We lost Cooper, he cost too much...oops, we got him.
We have Garcia...um...no sthankx...
This Plan has been as reliable as an Esdel.

I think we should wait til mid june before we press panic button on how much trouble we are in. Let us draft and finish FA and June cuts before we go crazy,
We are a mess now but, alot can change in 12 weeks.
