With FA well along and the draft coming up next month, it might be time to have a look at the Rookie Crop thats on the roster and a couple of 1st year players.
Some were on injured reserve last year and didn't really have a chance to prove themselves in camp etc.
At Center, Josh Sewell, 6'2" 301# Nebraska. Many think he is a comer.
CB, Jeremy LeSueur, 6'0 197# Michigan, Injured reserved last year with great potential.
CB, Jeff Shoate, 5'10" 189# San Diego State, Well thought of
DE, Aaron Hunt, 6'2" 265# Texas Tech. Resigned and assigned to Europe this year.
G, Tyson Clabo, 6'6" 314# Wake Forest, Another assignee to Europe with great potential.
LB, Louis Green, 6'3" 228# Alcorn State. Seems to hang in there.

Roster Players (Cont)
QB, Matt Mauck, 6'1" 213# Louisiana St Coming close to being our #2
QB, Bradlee Van Pelt, 6'2" 231# Colorado St. Very athaletic, and could develope into something special. Maybe another position also.
RB, Brandon Miree, 5'11" 237# Pittsburg. Also sent to Europe. Shanahan says he has the #2 spot at FB. Well thought of.
RB, Santonio Beard, 6'0" 224#, Originally scheduled for Europe, failed his physical. No one said for what, but still on the roster. Lots of potential if he applies himself
WR, B J Johnson, 5'11" 207# Texas, IR last year, smooth receiver, great heart.
WR, Triandos Luke, 5'10" 189# Alabama. Hard to predict, a question mark.
Most all of these players came as a result of last years draft. And for one reason or another haven't had a good chance to preform. They will be watched closely in camp and their training approach. Could make a big difference on who and how the draft is considered.

i think Luke has alot of promise. He actually did as well or better than watts in the second half of the season i thought. He isnt a good returner but i think he is a decent reciever. I like Clabo as well. Miree will make the roster as a FB this year, as will Mauck and B.J. Johnson.
I'd watch out for Markus Steele playing LB for us. He was touted pretty highly coming out a few years back, I think he was drafted in round 4 of the 2001 draft. Seems like we slipped him under the radar when we signed him. I would like to see him come in and compete with Terry Peirce.

Add to the List Romar Crenshaw WR the fastest player in camp last year.
I met Romar last year at Ash's house after the Carolina game. He was a real soft spoken guy but definitely looked like he could turn into a player. I hope he makes it!
Cecil Sapp is another guy you might want to add.
My top five of the bunch:
Mauck
BJ Johnson
Jeremy LeSueur
Triandos Luke
Josh Sewell
In that order. I think Mauck can at least be a valuable backup QB, if not a decent starter, in this league. BJ Johnson is a legit talent, had it not been for his injury we'd never have gotten him, he'd have been taken by round 4. LeSueur will do better when they move him to safety. Luke is a dangerous speedster who could give us a couple game breaking plays a year. Sewell has potential to be a starting C, but should at least develope into a reliable backup given some time.

Agree BJ Johnson, could be a steal now that he's had a year to really heal up.

I thought Louis Green was almost as good as Chukwurah last pre-season.

I don't know why, exactly, but I sense that Matt Mauck is going to make it in the NFL.
This guy is intense & confident...he knows he has the skills. Developing QBs isn't something the 'win now' NFL is known for any longer.
During one Pre-Season game last year, Mauck ran from the field with the play clock ticking down...no time out called...rather than search out Kubiak, he went straight to a surprised Shanahan and said something to the effect of;
"I know what they're doing & I can beat it...I just can't remember the damned play set"
Shanahan quiclkly gave him a play, he returned to the game and played very well.
I know Shanahan likes this kid, but like Putzier last year, he MUST take a big step up this year & demonstrate he belongs.
That's much harder to do at QB & ONCE you do, you almost immediately command more money, so one process becomes another.
Ah, the business of football.

As many of you have expressed, there is just lots of talent in the young and untested on the current roster. If we pick up some top notched OLG in the draft, & C Brown signs. We will be in pretty good shape. Should we do a deal for Pryce, things will be Rosey!
I don't get at this stage of the game why some of you are so anxious to get rid of Pryce, who you going to get that's better for the Broncos? We need D line help and he is one of the best. There is no one left to sign.

None of those guys are going to make a Pro Bowl.
Denver needs some studs. And a better coaching staff. There were some assistant changes this year, let's hope they can make a playoff win out of the guys they have.

Yeah, whatever. I see possibly one of the two WR's might make the team. Sapp would be a good back if he ever decides he will have to block. His hands are questionable, but honestly, he has more upside than Anderson.
I also think Madise is primed for a breakout season. Ha! Did he land anywhere last year?

Clabo and Johnson are two guys Im high on for us. Sewell could be good but Im not sure about moving him out of position.
