it seems like no one on this board thinks that Droughns should be here next year. I think that Droughns should play a lot of snaps at RB, splitting time with bell. I mean, the man did gain 1240 yards last year, which puts him at 10th in the NFL, despite starting 12 games and splitting with Bell in the last 3 games. I think Droughns and Bell could be an awesome pair. I dont know why no one is giving him any props. I think we need to look at getting rid of Anderson, b/c, even though i like him, he hasn't played much RB in the last 3-4 years and now he's comin off of an injury. I think we need to go with the two sure things, Bell and Droughns. Both were really good last year and neither is coming off a leg injury, like Q and anderson are. But why no respect for Droughns.

I'm not down on Droughns. I'd much rather keep him AND MA to go along with Bell. So what if Anderson hasn't played much RB in the last 3-4 years. Droughns hadn't either and look at what he stepped up and did last year. Droughns is cheap this year and Anderson recently restructured. Both are versatile TEAM players. I really don't see any reason to get rid of either one of them given their trade value.

Agree, As it stands now the most logical set of five backs would be:
Bell TB
Q TB
RD TB/FB
MA TB/FB
Johnson FB
Always nice to see a local guy make good, but I don't see Sapp here unless there is an injury. Hard to tell on Miree.

I wouldn't say that anybody is against RD, or doesn't want him on the roster. Most people are for Bell, but do want the Broncos to hang onto RD, unless there is a very good trade.

I don't think anyone on this board dislikes Droughns. He's the type of player that you want on your team. He'll do just about anything he's asked, and he does it well. He's a good football player.
This situation really is amicable for all parties involved. The Donks gave him the go ahead to see if he can find a place where he can be the guy...(If the price is to their liking...which it'd have to be a killer deal...because he simply provides a very high quality of depth at two positions.) Droughns for his part has said all the right things...a la that he wants to be #1...but he'd be happy back in Denver if a deal can't be found.
It will all work itself out just fine, by the time the season gets here.

i didnt mean that people here were hating Droughns, but we seem to ignore him when we talk about RBs. and when i said that Anderson hadn't played in 3-4 years, i meant that on top of his groin injury, which can be devastating. same with Griffin's knee. Obviously, we'll have to see how they do in training camp, but i think we should go mainly with:
RB: Bell/Droughns
FB: Johnson/Droughns
Maybe Q could slip in on certain passing plays, and Anderson could come in on some plays, but that's how i would do it if i was shanny. But, i'm not, and no matter what, i think our Running game will do well this season.

I'm not against Droughns. He's a nice player, but he simply doesn't have game breaking speed.
He will be fine as a goal line guy and a few-carries-a-game guy.

DrFate, i agree 100% with you, the lack of speed cost us quite a few td's over the course of the season.

yeah but his toughness also WON us a few games. Carolina, he won the game himself, with 193 yards and a TD. NO and Oakland, he helped win it with plummer. Tennessee, he was the main reason why we won, with over 100 total yards and 3 TDs. i agree, he prolly shouldnt be our #1, but he needs to get carries and RB action.

No one wants to run Droughns out of town, it's Droughns that wants to be a starter and the Broncos have a young RB who looks primed to take that job.
I have no problem with Droughns being here next season, be it as a FB or RB.
I know Drougns will play. The only problem I have with Reuben is the ideas his idiot agent will be putting into his head.

nobody forced RD to sign with a certain agent....
The Postons Bros. are idiots...
Drew Drew Rosenhaus is the hottest agent in pro-football for a reason.

does he have the same agent as portis?

The way our starting RBs seem to get injured it would be nothing less than criminal if the Broncos traded Droughns.
Bell is Portis like but he hasn't shown me he's durable enough to last 16 games. Droughns is a total team player and on two back sets a good O-Coordinator could use all sorts of misdirection and playaction to confuse defenses as to which back is getting the ball.
Plus, Droughns is a great back for pounding the ball late in the game if you want to protect a lead.

I like Droughns more than Anderson. Better hands, better vision, and better explosion off the snap. I honestly don't have that much room on my roster for Anderson.
Droughns is a fine overall player for us. I don't see Denver giving him up for anything less than a high 3rd, if that. We would probably draft another LeSewer.

Exactly.
Droughns is also the best pass receiving RB in our roster and in RB terms he's barely got his cherry popped with just 12 games under his belt. In other words he's barely got any mileage on him and is already a finished product that does all the little things well like blocking, catching the ball, running the cutback and special teams.
If Bell gets another ouchie you can pop Droughns in there and watch him churn out another 1000 yards.
does he have the same agent as portis? Yep, Drew Rosenhaus, satan's favorite son.
I like Droughns more than Anderson. Better hands, better vision, and better explosion off the snap. I honestly don't have that much room on my roster for Anderson. My thoughts exactly, Anderson is the equivalent of an older, injury prone Droughns at this point. We'd be best to cut him, save the cap room and save the roster spot, instead of having two guys with the same skills on the depth chart.
My ideal picture of what we'll do for the RB spot.
HB1 - Bell/Droughns split time as starter.
HB2 - Q backs the two of them up, sees 3rd and long action and other light spot work. Gets to mop up in decided games to see if he can step it up.
FB1 - Kyle Johnson, legit blocking FB who'll do a lot of good for our starting HB. Johnson + Droughns is a fearsome duo.
FB2 - Cecil Sapp. Looks a lot like Droughns or Anderson, but with more size so he can play a more run oriented FB. mix him in with Johnson, give him a couple carries a game, and see what he can do.
3 HBs and 2 FBs. Have a couple decent practice squaders too. I'd also like to see Droughns return to KR/PR duties, which he can split with Q and Luke, but with Droughns seeing most of the action. He's valuable to have on the field.
RB is a position of significant strength in the organization, we should make use of it to cover up our shortcomings. Having a few plays were Q plays as a WR wouldn't be bad I don't think, since anything that can get him the ball in space makes him into a weapon. Droughns should still be our short yardage horse, and Bell can be the gamebreaker who puts up the TDs and takes the big chunks of yardage. I don't think its unreasonable to think that we could split time between Bell and Droughns, with both reaching close to 1,000 yards next season, if not both doing it. We averaged about 145 yards per game last season. I'd like to see that up around about 155 if we're going to have a really successful season, and that should make us 1 or 2 in rushing leaguewide.

i agree with everything except for Droughns being a PR. He should be the KR, remeber when he was special teams player of the moth in Sept? But i think that Luke or Q or Adams should be the PR
