what are your predictions for the 2005 season. I know its early, but i'm wondering how worried everyone is. Pre-draft, i'd say i'm thinking 10-6, wild card, and early playoff knockout. This could obviously improve via the draft, or it could go down. So tell the record, and how we make the playoffs (or not) and where we are knocked out (if we are).

I agree with the 10-6... but we will need a solid draft and some help on the D line to get to 10-6. If we screw up the draft and do not address the Dline issue, I see 9-7 and no playoffs.

That would seem to fit the pattern.

Right now I see the AFC West pretty much repeating it's course of last year. KC might win a couple more, so could the Raiders.

If we keep Pryce and get C. Brown and then draft Brandon Browner and Vincent Jackson in the draft, we'll go 13-3 and home field advantage, that's of course if everyone stays healthy, which hasn't happened around here since Elway retired.

yeah, i agree, but what i meant was that our best possible season RIGHT NOW would be a first round knockout. If we have an awesome draft, and i mean awesome, then i could see 13-3 and AFC championship. But that would mean addressing all of our needs and having Watts step up, Warren play to his potential, Plummer to play great, and all of our rookies to make a huge immediate impact. But i'm thinkin last year again, followed by another one of these offseasons.

it could, but i don't see the chargers being as good as last year. Gates has no where to go but down, and i can't see Brees being as good. Have they made any big signings yet? Chefs and Raiders will be slightly better, Broncos could be the same.

Well the way the current roster looks I would say around 8-8 or 9-7 missing the playoffs and yet not getting a top draft pick. That being said the homer in me says there is no way the dline roster looks anything like it currently does come opening day.

wow, that's rough. I guess i could see that, but i won't admit it to myself, and i still think that at worst, realistically, we'll still be .500. But thats just the Broncos fan part of me (like 95% of me)

I'm just not that ethusiastic about my Broncos anymore. The Broncos were boring/stale before Portis and now are again. I know "the trade" had to be done, but the Broncos are again suffering an identity crisis.

in 2005, may the football gods bless this team with another NFL Superstar.

yeah, we need another one of those out of nowhere superstars from the draft. Or, Bell can become one of the league's best runners. Also, Lelie is poised to become a superstar, now that he has broken out. And don't forget DJ. But i see what you mean. We are in need of one of those players who evry fan knows is in the top five players in the NFL. We have a bunch of good young guys poised to take that role. We need them to this year for us to have a shot at the division, let alone the Super Bowl. That's why we need a good draft, and maybe another good signing after June 2. veteran WR anyone?

I feel the same exact way only I would say its more the D that has an identity crisis. They just seem solid yet no big plays they just go thru the motions. Heck the last BIG play they made was Mobley in the SB. I mean really whats the last BIG play you remember.

Heck the only BIG plays I remember last year were Q's fumble and Jakes fade in the endzone that ended our chances at a home playoff game. This team just seems to just go thru the motions.

The Broncos were better than the 10-6 they got last year, losing three games due to a fumble, a stupid pass that should not have been thrown, and a ST breakdown. Can those three plays re-occur? (I doubt it, but then there can be some new ways to lose, eh?) So, I am starting from there. There was a rather weak pass rush and the secondary got burned a couple of times badly. The running game was a real surprise to a lot of people, and I think Bell will be better than RD, although that is not a knock on RD

Where the help is really needed badly is in the STs. The punting game is real bad. And the returns do not meet the Pop Warner League standards. While you could not point to them and say that ST play lost the game, it was the cumulative effect of bad play that ultimately led to a lot of real difficult situations for the O and the D. I don't think the need for a DE or a Guard would be hard to manage with the first two picks the Broncos have. But they do need to address teh ST play and get players with speed, panache, verve, vigor, elan, enthusiasm, swivel hips, good knees and kamakaze attitudes to run back kicks. And the punter needs to be able to punt beyond 45 yards a crack and kickoff to the goal line at least 85% of the time

If those areas are addressed, I could see a possible 13-3. If they are not adressed, a repeat 10-6 season seems likely.

We play some very good teams in 05. We must regain the ability to beat good teams.

Based on the improvements of the Chefs, Raiders, and the Bolts have 2 first round picks - I think Denver will be fortunate to go 8-8. (and I nearly always tell people they will contend for the title)

Bronco9798

The Broncos need to learn how to beat and dominate bad teams. This has been the biggest problem the last couple of years. The Broncos seem to play to the level of the competition. If they can't get over this continuation, it could be a very long season.

I'm not happy with the off-season to a point. Is Warren going to be healthy? Can the Broncos get better in the red zone? Can Watts have a good year as the 3rd receiver? All the focus has been on the D so far. I think not having a veteran 3rd WR could hurt the Broncos this year, if they don't get one.

We also lost some guys on D. I wasn't real big on KK. He can hit, but his cover skills sucked. Fergy can play and he can do a decent job. But all in all I don't think the Broncos have improved at this point, but it's early.

At this point today, I'd say 9-7 at the best.

2-14 I hate to say that but we just might suck ! we are going to be ran over and there is going to be no pass rush ! well the plaN should have us draft all O-side of the ball so we can watch our team get really cloberd

this off season really sucks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sure hope brown picks the skins !! they can have his broken down a## !! our luck he will pick the broncos play one game and be out on IR the rest of the year !!! then him and Ellis can go fishing a LTAO at the stupid broncos paying money for broken players ! we do this year after year and why ? I wish they would totaly strip the GM part of Shanahans job completly .

yeah...mine too. I'm also predicting about 89 TDs for Plummer, 5 Ints, 2868 yards for RD, 1700 yards for Bell, 45 TDs for Droughns, 26 for Bell. Also, Lelie will have 2178 yards and 40 TDs. On defense we will be led by Will Bartow at corner, with 31 Ints and 25 defensive TDs. He will also finish with 125 tackjles, third in the league. Al wilson will finish with a record 30 sacks, followed by DJ with 27. Bartow will also return 12 punts and 13 kickoffs for TDs, averaging over 30 yards a PR and 50 yards a KR. Elam will make every field goal and we'll win the SB 67-13. Oh ****, that was my Madden season. Oh man, I got to go to sleep to wear off the weed. Seriously, though. I don't think that there is a Will Bartow on our team. Wait a minute, I'm Will Bartow. Woah. I got to go to bed.

That has been a characteristic of Denver for decades except for the 98 season.

The Broncos seem to play to the level of the competition. If they can't get over this continuation, it could be a very long season.

One of the last players with that credo is Rod Smith. At 35, he willed himself into a punt touchdown. Special Players make Special Plays at Special Times. We are paying Champ Bailey that kind of money.

I'm not happy with the off-season to a point. Is Warren going to be healthy?

Warren is perfectly healthy, he just sucked.

Can the Broncos get better in the red zone?

Not with the style of red zone offense we have been running. Q out of the backfield with a double TE?

Can Watts have a good year as the 3rd receiver?

Yes. Or we better hope so, he's a freaking #2 pick. He busts, it makes the Portis trade even more questionable.

All the focus has been on the D so far.

How so? Warren and bringing back Gold while Kennedy, Hayward, Herndon, Johnson, Spragen and probably Pryce are all gone?

I think not having a veteran 3rd WR could hurt the Broncos this year, if they don't get one.

Tell that to Brian Griese while he was trying to run the Nintendo Offense a few years ago with Billy Miller, Cole, Rod Smith had a broken leg, and god knows who else. I would be happy with a 3rd WR, yet alone a 5th. I loved that 5 wide with 3 TE's. But it was Brian's fault.

We also lost some guys on D.

Umm, yeah.

I wasn't real big on KK.

He played to his potential last year. He sucked every year before last year. We will get a conditional.

He can hit, but his cover skills sucked.

His cover skills improved and but he had a red flag over his head here.

Fergy is the most underrated player on the whole defense.

yeah it sucked when he got hurt in the indy game in '03. that left us with KK, Walls, and herndon who had a freakin cast on his hand. Almost as good as this years' indy secondary. Though if we had had Walls and/or Middlebrooks, i dont think that we would have gotten blown out, and we could have won. Remeber, stokely and Harrison did almost nothing. Wayne killed us. if that had been Walls instead of Alexander, then maybe we could have held in there. And if our O came out to start the game the way we did in the 2nd half.
