I'm looking for a program that can download images (primarily jpg) from websites and save to my harddrive. Was using downthemall extension for Firefox (works pretty well), but I have uninstalled Firefox for now, so I need a program for Internet Explorer. Anybody know a good free program that won't add spyware to my system?

Yeah, just right click on the image and either save as or copy image and then paste it into Paint or some other photo editing software and save it as whatever type you like.

Gee, thanks, guys. I'm talking about downloading all the pics at once..not one at a time which takes hours. I'm not an idiot...I work on computers for a living. Every two year old knows about copy and save, I'm talking about programs which will download multiple images from a site at once. There are lots of programs out there, but most of them cost or add spyware to your system. Thought maybe someone here might know of a free one (yes, I'm cheap) that works well but doesn't add any malware to your computer. If you have Firefox, you might try downthemall (free extension), it works well. I have removed Firefox until I figure out why it was causing conflicts on my system.

Try Snagit... I think they might have a free trial for 30 days. I use version 7.2

Since I have no use for such a program I would not know.

Although, if you get AdAware SE and Spybot S&D, whatever spy/addware is installed with a freeware imagegrabber will be promptly removed. Install it, then run AdAware and Spybot and then run the program. Good to go

Ya cheap bastard.

A search in Google for *image grabber* found several free programs.
I don't know how well they work or anything else about them.

Alec, I have Spybot, Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster, and about 5 other spyware tools so I'm pretty safe. I was just checking on here to see if anyone had a recommendation for a good picture ripper (aka picture grabber) that was freeware (yes, I am a cheap bastard). Why pay for something if I can get it for free. I just thought I could save myself some time if someone knew a good one so I didn't have to download five different ones and try them all out. I am a graphics nut and when I come across a site that has images I like it's important to have a way to download them without individually saving each and every file one at a time.
One of the posters suggested tucows.com. There were several listed there, so I will try some of those out. Taco impugns my integrity :) by suggesting I am downloading porn. While I cannot say my drive is free of images that my mother would disapprove of, that's not really my bag (although I do have a tremendous collection of pin-ups - particularly the artists of the 40s and 50s - my favorite is Alberto Vargas).
