From TSN:

1 (1) 49ers Aaron Rodgers* QB Cal.
Rodgers has announced he will be coming out for the '05 draft. The 49ers may not keep this first pick but if they do, Rodgers is the right choice to start their rebuilding process. He has shown remarkable improvement the past two years and is ready for the NFL.

2 (2) Dolphins Cedric Benson RB Texas
The Dolphins may not be able to resist Matt Leinart if he comes out -- a big, lefty gunslinger -- but Benson is a better choice for them. He is a fast and physical workhorse-type runner.

3 (3) Browns Derrick Johnson OLB Texas
Johnson is a <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/3831" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/3831" target="_blank">Ray Lewis</a></a>-type defender. Cleveland can build a big-time unit around him.

4 (4) Bears Braylon Edwards WR Michigan
The Bears need a go-to receiver. Edwards is a big-time playmaker with tremendous skills, size and speed.

5 (5) Buccaneers Alex Barron T Florida St.
Barron has the strength and athleticism to dominate the line of scrimmage.

6 (6) Titans David Pollack DE Georgia
Pollack is a big, physical and experienced end. His size, speed, and relentless pursuit should make him a dominant NFL player.

7 (7) Raiders Carnell Williams RB Auburn
Williams has the speed, size and lower-body strength to fight for yardage. He will be a welcome addition to a team that finished last in rushing in 2004.

8 (8) Cardinals Matt Leinart* QB USC
The Heisman Trophy winner and Orange Bowl MVP hasn't decided whether he will be an early draft entry. If he is, Leinart could be just the right fit for a young offense that already has very dangerous receivers.

9 (9) Redskins Erasmus James DE Wis.
Washington needs to improve its defensive line. James, powerful and athletic, never gives up plays and excels at both pass-rushing and tackling.

10 (10) Lions Kevin Burnett OLB Tennessee
Burnett has great speed and athleticism. His nonstop hustle, tackling skills and knack for big plays make him a very dangerous player.

11 (11) Cowboys Antrel Rolle CB Miami (FL)
Rolle is the shutdown corner Dallas needs. He has the size, speed, and skills to be a game-altering presence.

12 (12) Chargers Marlin Jackson CB Michigan
(from NY Giants) Jackson, a tough, physical shutdown corner, can have an immediate impact on the San Diego's young secondary.

13 (13) Texans Dan Cody DE Oklahoma
The Texans are one season away from being winners. Cody, a tough, physical, speedy, big-play end is a leader who knows what it takes to win.

14 (14) Panthers Elton Brown G Va.
Brown, a dominant force up front, can blast holes for <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1440" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1440" target="_blank">Stephen Davis</a></a> and DeShaun Foster.

15 (15) Chiefs Corey Webster CB LSU
Webster, a fast, hard-hitting corner, will bring big playmaking skills and a tough attitude to Kansas City's secondary.

16 (16) Saints Travis Johnson DT Florida St.
Johnson, a quick and strong hard-hitter, can stop the run and excels at getting penetration.

17 (17) Bengals Jamaal Brimmer S UNLV
Brimmer is a tough, hard-hitting, big-play safety whose physical style and aggressive play will make an immediate impact in the Cincinnati's secondary.

18 (18) Vikings Barrett Ruud ILB Nebraska
The Vikings need to upgrade their defense to compete with the top teams. Ruud has the size, speed and hard-hitting tackling ability they sorely need.

19 (19) Rams Antonio Perkins CB Oklahoma
Perkins is just what the St. Louis needs -- an experienced shutdown corner with outstanding speed and skills. He also is a standout special teams performer.

20 (20) Cowboys Jammal Brown T Oklahoma
(from Buffalo) Brown, an athletic giant with outstanding blocking skills, will be just the right addition for a young Dallas offense.

21 (21) Jaguars Mike Williams* WR USC
Williams would be a steal here with his size and outstanding playmaking flair. With his incredible hands, he and Byron Leftwich could be a dynamic duo.

22 (22) Ravens Mark Clayton WR Oklahoma
Clayton, an all-around receiver, does everything very well -- run, jump, catch, and block. He would be a perfect target for <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396152" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396152" target="_blank">Kyle Boller</a></a> and the right complement for <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187391" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187391" target="_blank">Jamal Lewis</a></a>.

23 (23) Seahawks Mathias Kiwanuka* DE Boston Coll.
Kiwanuka is a solid underclassman entry. A huge force with speed and great potential, he would bring a game-altering presence to Seattle's defense.

24 (24) Packers Alex Smith* QB Utah
Smith has declared he will enter the draft after an outstanding junior season for the Utes. He has size, speed and a great arm. The chance to learn under Brett Favre will make his decision look even smarter.

25 (25) Broncos Ronnie Brown RB Auburn
Brown, a two-dimensional back, can both run the ball with power and speed and is a big receiving threat. He is the type of player Mike Shanahan would love to have in his backfield.

26 (26) Jets Donte Nicholson S Oklahoma
The Jets need a defensive upgrade. Nicholson, a punishing hitter, excels both in run support and coverage.

27 (27) Falcons Vince Carter C Oklahoma
Carter, a big, powerful center, can give <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235253" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235253" target="_blank">Michael Vick</a></a> protection and room to roam.

28 (28) Chargers Adam Terry T Syracuse
San Diego's offensive line could use some more youth. Terry has the wingspan to ride off rushers and the blocking skills to open holes for <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235249" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235249" target="_blank">LaDainian Tomlinson</a></a>.

29 (29) Colts Shaun Cody DT USC
Cody creates matchup problems with his quickness and size. Indianapolis needs big-time defensive playmakers, and he fits that mold.

30 (30) Eagles Anttaj Hawthorne DT Wis.
Hawthorne has the strength and size to be a solid NFL run stopper and is an unblockable force when rushing the passer.

31 (31) Patriots Antwaun Rogers CB Purdue
New England has been hurting in the secondary all season. Rogers is a big, playmaking corner with good experience.

32 (32) Steelers D'Brickashaw Ferguson* T Va.
Ferguson, a junior, seems to be leaning toward staying in school. But if he enters the draft, he could have an immediate impact on Pittsburgh's tough young defense. An exceptional athlete with an enormous wingspan, he also can add more bulk.

At first I thought it was old, but they mention Leinart's Orange Bowl MVP, so it's pretty recent.

Denver getting a RB in the first round is almost as ridiculous as getting a QB in the first round. Don't count on either one to happen.

A RB in the first??? I don't think it's such a stretch getting a QB in the first, not if you want a quality one. We cannot wait too much longer to plan for the future. I know we have other needs but I love this mock draft, both first and second round although I don't know that either pick will fall as far as this.

NFL Draft Showcase

2005 MOCK DRAFT

By Allen Trieu | 1/7/05
*draft order is still subject to change depending on what happens in the playoffs.

1st ROUND

1.San Francisco 49ers
Matt Leinart, QB, Southern Cal
It actually is starting to look less and less likely that San Fransisco will take a Quarterback. However, no offensive lineman is worth this pick and I'm not convinced they'd take Antrel Rolle first overall. If they can't trade down, ultimately I think the team still needs a quarterback to build around. Leinart has his flaws but he's the closest thing there is to a franchise QB this year.

2. Miami Dolphins
Cedric Benson, RB, Texas
Personally, I am not sold on Benson being the best back in this draft and being a top five pick. However, I think his power running style is more of what the Dolphins will want. I believe they will try to trade out of this pick as well, but right now, if they stay I think the choice will be Benson. I think they're willing to give AJ Feely a chance with a new supporting cast, so I don't see Aaron Rodgers being the pick here.

3. Cleveland Browns
Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami
It will almost certainly be a defensive player here. At this point, it will probably come down to Rolle and Derrick Johnson. Rolle however, fills a little more of a need. He and Anthony Henry would make a nice young combo.

4. Chicago Bears
Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan
The Bears absolutely need an offensive tackle, but with Jonathan Scott and D'Brickashaw Ferguson likely to return to school, no offensive lineman is worth this pick, I think the Bears take an offensive playmaker in Edwards. However, I could see a team like Baltimore trading up to this slot to take Edwards and the Bears dropping down, picking up extra picks and getting an OT later in the 1st Round.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Mike Williams, WR, Southern Cal
I think Tampa Bay could go RB or DT as well, but by draft time, I expect Williams' stock to be back up. The Bucs have Michael Clayton but I think they still lack another starting WR. Joey Galloway would work well in the slot and Charles Lee could be a nice 4th receiver. Williams and Clayton would be a nice combo for years to come.

6. Tennessee Titans
Derrick Johnson, OLB, Texas
Tennessee has good young linebackers in Brad Kassell and Keith Bulluck already, but Johnson is the best player available and a great value here. He will complete the trio and give Tennessee a good coverage linebacker and allow Bulluck to blitz more freely.

7. Oakland Raiders
Aaron Rodgers, QB, California
If Rodgers starts to slide, I think the Raiders will be the team to stop the slide. He is a local boy who could sit for a couple years behind Kerry Collins and be the player the Raiders hang their future on. He is also an excellent fit in the west coast offense.

8. Arizona Cardinals
Carnell Williams, RB, Auburn
The Cards will need a feature back as Emmitt Smith is likely going to call it a career and Marcel Shipp is both coming off of injury and also questionable as a full time starter. Williams gives them a true feature back who is a threat to go the distance.

9. Washington Redskins
Mathias Kiwanuka, DE, Boston College
If he comes out, Kiwanuka has as much potential as anyone in this class. He would give Washington's pass rush a serious boost and make one of the league's better defenses even better.

10. Detroit Lions
Thomas Davis, FS, Georgia
The Lions secondary needs a couple more bodies. They'll need help at both safety and corner. No corner is quite worth this pick, but Davis, who is head and shoulders above any other safety in the draft is. He would be an instant starter in the Detroit secondary.

11. Dallas Cowboys
David Pollack, DE, Georgia
I don't feel that Pollack is worth this pick, but with Kiwanuka gone, Dallas may be forced to reach a little bit. Any other defensive end would be a reach here, but Pollack's college production and his work ethic make him less of a risk than the other DEs available.

12. San Diego Chargers (from NYG)
Mark Clayton, WR, Oklahoma
Not everyone is as high on Clayton as I am, but I truly believe he will make those who pass on him pay. He is a football player and a playmaker pure and simple and that's the type of receiver San Diego needs. No matter who is playing QB for them, it is always nice to have a receiver who can take a 5 yard pass and turn it into a 50 yard touchdown.

13. Houston Texans
Ronnie Brown, RB, Auburn
Dommanick Davis has had a good later part of the year, but I still think he works better as a 3rd down or change of pace back. Brown would give the Texans a true feature back who can also catch the ball. If Thomas Davis is here though, I think Houston would jump on him before taking a running back.

14. Carolina Panthers
Anttaj Hawthorne, DT, Wisconsin
Brenston Buckner may not be back with the team and if so, they will need a young defensive tackle to keep up their great defensive line. Hawthorne's stock slipped a little this season but he's still a great talent and is worth this pick.

15. Kansas City Chiefs
Justin Milller, CB, Clemson
The Chiefs don't have a corner who can consistently take away the other team's best receiver. Miller, with his speed and physicality, can be that guy. He would likely be an instant starter and his athleticism and potential will make him more attractive here than Marlin Jackson or Corey Webster.

16. New Orleans Saints
Ahmad Brooks, ILB, Virginia
The Saints need a Linebacker and Brooks is ultra talented. He may slide a little because of inexperience though, but he would be an absolute gift for the Saints at this position.

17. Cincinnati Bengals
Shaun Cody, DT/DE, Southern Cal
Cody is rising a bit and he's proving that he can stay at DT in the NFL, which will help his chances of getting picked here as the Bengals need help on the interior of their defensive line.

18. Minnesota Vikings
Elton Brown, G, Virginia
Brown would replace David Dixon and give the Vikes more of a boost in the running game. This isn't a sexy pick, but this is the type of pick the Vikings need to start making if they want to get over the hump.

19. St. Louis Rams
Marcus Spears, DE, Louisiana State
Spears is sliding a bit, but I think he'll work well in St.Louis. He's a bigger end who can stop the run, which is what the team needs since they already have an edge rusher on the other side in Leonard Little.

20. Dallas Cowboys (from BUF)
Marlin Jackson, CB, Michigan
Jackson is a physical corner and he will give Dallas another cover corner opposite from Terence Newman in case Pete Hunter doesn't make it back all the way from injury.

21. Jacksonville Jaguars
Erasmus James, DE, Wisconsin
The Jags haven't gotten great play out of rookie Bobby McCray, but I think they still need another defensive end. They could also go corner here, but there should be better value at CB when they pick in the 2nd than at DE.

22. Baltimore Ravens
Alex Barron, OT, Florida State
Barron slides a little bit and it's a great situation for the Ravens. Barron is a right tackle type who can take over for Orlando Brown. Any WR here would probably be too much of a reach, so they'll likely wait on one here.

23. Seattle Seahawks
Channing Crowder, ILB, Florida
Crowder has great talent, but his off-field problems will probably mean he'll be available here. The Seahawks need some youth and athleticism at Linebacker and Crowder could develop into the leader of this defense.

24. Green Bay Packers
Pacman Jones, CB, West Virginia
Ahmad Carroll has been decent as a rookie, but the Pack still need some depth at CB. Jones can give them that while being groomed to the other starter opposite Carroll in a few years.

25. Denver Broncos
Alex Smith, QB, Utah
Smith is an outstanding talent and if he drops this far, I think Denver would be crazy not to pick him given their current QB situation. Denver does have some other needs, but they don't have a young QB on the roster.

26. New York Jets
Heath Miller, TE, Virginia
Miller would be an outstanding fit here. Anthony Becht is solid and a good blocker, but Miller can stretch the field for the Jets and open up more opportunities for their receivers on the outside.

27. Atlanta Falcons
Jammal Brown, OT, Oklahoma
Brown, a right tackle, would be a good candidate to protect Michael Vick's blindside. The Falcons need someone who can play right away and Brown's experience would allow him to do that.

28. San Diego Chargers
Adam Terry, OT, Syracuse
Terry is a true left tackle who along with Shane Olivea would give the Chargers a nice pair of young bookend tackles.

29. Indianapolis Colts
Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech
The Colts need a corner, and here they pass on the experience of Corey Webster and take the raw talent of Williams. Williams struggled early on in his transition to corner, but the light seems to have come on as he had an outstanding last half of the year.

30. New England Patriots
Kevin Burnett, OLB, Tennessee
Burnett turned in an excellent senior season. The Patriots have an older linebacking corps and could use some youth there. Burnett could contribute on special teams immediately as well.

31. Philadelphia Eagles
Rian Wallace, OLB, Temple
The Eagles take a local player and fill a need here with Wallace. He is a big, physical linebacker who could give them a lot of size and strength in their linebacking corps along with Jeremiah Trotter.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers
Ben Wilkerson, C, Louisiana State
Jeff Hartings may retire and while Chucky Okobi has flashed potential, he lacks the size to start given the Steelers' smashmouth style. Wilkerson is a cereberal, technically sound center who could remind Steeler fans of Dermontti Dawson.

2nd ROUND

33.San Fransisco 49ers
Carlos Rogers, CB, Auburn

34.Cleveland Browns
Andrew Whitworth, OT, LSU

35.Philadelphia Eagles (from MIA)
Eric Shelton, RB, Louisville

36.Tampa Bay
Ciatrick Fason, RB, Florida

37.Tennessee
Brandon Browner, CB, Oregon State

38.Oakland
Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina

39.Chicago
Marcus McNeil, OT, Auburn

40.New Orleans (from WAS)
Corey Webster, CB, LSU

41.Detroit
David Baas, C/G, Michigan

42.Dallas
Travis Johnson, DT, Florida State

43.NY Giants
Roddy White, WR, UAB

44.Arizona
Justin Tuck, DE, Notre Dame

45.Carolina
Wesley Britt, OT, Alabama

46.Kansas City
JR Russell, WR, Louisville

47.Houston
Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon

48.Cincinnati
Michael Munoz, OT, Tennessee

49.Green Bay (from NO)

51.Baltimore
Terrence Murphy, WR, Texas A&M

52.Jacksonville
Eric Green, CB, Virginia Tech

53.Minnesota

55.Seattle
Dan Cody, DE, Oklahoma

56.Denver
Matt Roth, DE, Iowa

I would love for Cody or Roth to slip to late second round. I think it could be possible, especially for Cody. The Orange Bowl "performance" didn't do anything to make his stock rise, but he is still a quality DE. I don't think Pryce or Coleman will be back next year, and we need a stud DE.

Johnson is a <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/3831" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/3831" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/3831" target="_blank">Ray Lewis</a></a></a>-type defender.

Brown, a dominant force up front, can blast holes for <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1440" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1440" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1440" target="_blank">Stephen Davis</a></a></a> and DeShaun Foster.

He would be a perfect target for <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396152" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396152" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396152" target="_blank">Kyle Boller</a></a></a> and the right complement for <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187391" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187391" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187391" target="_blank">Jamal Lewis</a></a></a>.

Carter, a big, powerful center, can give <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235253" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235253" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235253" target="_blank">Michael Vick</a></a></a> protection and room to roam.

28 (28) Chargers Adam Terry T Syracuse
San Diego's offensive line could use some more youth. Terry has the wingspan to ride off rushers and the blocking skills to open holes for <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235249" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235249" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235249" target="_blank">LaDainian Tomlinson</a></a></a>.

Damnit!! If the f**king Packers take Alex Smith one pick ahead of the Broncos, I'll f**king puke!!

Tennessee has good young linebackers in Brad Kassell and <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187502" target="_blank">Keith Bulluck</a> already, but Johnson is the best player available and a great value here. He will complete the trio and give Tennessee a good coverage linebacker and allow Bulluck to blitz more freely.

7. Oakland Raiders
Aaron Rodgers, QB, California
If Rodgers starts to slide, I think the Raiders will be the team to stop the slide. He is a local boy who could sit for a couple years behind <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1013" target="_blank">Kerry Collins</a> and be the player the Raiders hang their future on. He is also an excellent fit in the west coast offense.

8. Arizona Cardinals
Carnell Williams, RB, Auburn
The Cards will need a feature back as Emmitt Smith is likely going to call it a career and <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/237430" target="_blank">Marcel Shipp</a> is both coming off of injury and also questionable as a full time starter.

He's a bigger end who can stop the run, which is what the team needs since they already have an edge rusher on the other side in <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/12517" target="_blank">Leonard Little</a>.

20. Dallas Cowboys (from BUF)
Marlin Jackson, CB, Michigan
Jackson is a physical corner and he will give Dallas another cover corner opposite from <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396171" target="_blank">Terence Newman</a> in case Pete Hunter doesn't make it back all the way from injury.

56.Denver
Matt Roth, DE, Iowa

The perfect draft! Awe, one can dream....

I cannot believe someone actually got paid to do this mock.

I should've bump this up because January 12th was the 1 year anny of my 1st Mock draft last year, and while I made some real bad picks, I drilled a few of them dead on the money.

Makes it sad because all I do is watch a ton of college football and do some homework from time to time on teams and targeted players, and an accurate mock draft can be fired away.

FADERPROOF
01-13-2005, 01:07 AM
Alright I found my mock draft, here goes:

(REMEMBER THIS WAS FROM JANUARY 12TH OF LAST YEAR)

1.) San Diego Chargers - Roy Williams, WR, Texas: Think Drew Brees is done as a starter? Not happening. SD will go WR to help out Brees and not be a complement to David Boston. Caldwell and Dwight are good WR's but I do not see either as a legit #2, while Williams can be.

1 YEAR LATER: Wouldn't have been a bad choice, but who knew Drew Brees would play like he did?

2.) Oakland Raiders - Tommie Harris, DT, Oklahoma: Another interesting pick, but the Raiders problems start with the DL. Gannon showed that a superstar isn't needed to run the Oakland offense, and Tui will be there to take over. Oaklands DL is depleted, injured, and old, Harris can provide a young spark that this team may need,

1 YEAR LATER: Tough to take a DT here and Gallery is great

3.) Arizona Cardinals - Eli Manning, QB, Ole Miss: Zona needs to go QB here, and they'll go with the known product with the last name to his credit. Pretty simple choice here, Boldin will be even better with someone to throw him the ball.

1 YEAR LATER: While Fitz was a great pick(he wasnt sure of his eligibility at the time) Arizona's QB carousel probably means that QB is a priority this year

4.) New York Giants - Shane Andrews, OL, Arkansas: NY ended up starting and undrafted free agent at guard this year, that's how bad their OL is. While I believe Gallery is the better OL, Andrews looks to be rated higher on most draft charts and the Giants won't hesitate to take him.

1 YEAR LATER: WHAT AN AWEFUL PICK, DRILL ME FOR THIS ONE

5.) Washington Redskins - Kenechi Udeze, DE, USC: Redskins have a crapton of problems, but this here takes care of one, the pass rush. Udeze is quick olff the line and can be a great edge rusher for them, as he takes Bruce Smiths spot.

1 YEAR LATER: Went too high, ankle injury at combine dropped him big time

6.) Detroit Lions - Shaun Taylor, FS, Miami: Millen has to get this right, Taylor is the best overall player in the draft. Lionsa have the groundwork for a good offense intact with harrington and Rogers(needa RB still), and now with Bly being signed and Bailey being draft last year, Taylor can seriously bulk up this defense.

1 YEAR LATER:Lions wouldve taken him had Washington not've, Roy Williams was a good pick for them.

7.)Atlanta Falcons - Vince Wilfork, DT, Miami: Vince would be a perfect fit here in ATL, where they have been working a 3-4 defense. He's a big run-stuffing DT that will work well for ATL, as defense was their achilles heel last year.

1 YEAR LATER: Wilfork stock dropped big time when he hammered down a 7 in thw wonderlic, he's playing great in NE though.

8.) Cleveland Browns - Robert Gallery, OT, Iowa: Living here in Cleveland, I know that these Browns fans will be putting a bounty on Butch Davis' head if either Gallery or Andrews is available and the Browns do not select either.

1 YEAR LATER: I'll admit to homering this pick because I feel bad for Browns fans here.

9.)Jacksonville Jaguars - Reggie Williams, WR, Washington: This much like Detroit last year, taking Rogers to go along with 1st round pick oif the year before, Joey Harrington. Byron Leftwich has the potential and the skill, now get him a main weapon around him and the Jags will excel.

1 YEAR LATER: DING! DING! DING!

10.) Houston Texans - Randy Starks, DT, Maryland: Like Wilfork, Starks will be a good fit for the 3-4 D that the Texans run. The pieces are ther in Texas, just need to be put properly together, and Starks can help provide that.

1 YEAR LATER: Dropped all the way to the 2nd, who knew Dunat Robinson's stock would rise so much in the combine?

11.) Pittsburgh Steelers - Ben Roethlisberger,QB, Miami(OH): Let's be real, Tommy Maddox isn't going to be around forever, plus he didn't have the greatest of seasons this year. Roeth has a huge arm and accuracy to go along with it, plus he has great field awareness and abilikty to avoid the rush.

1 YEAR LATER: Waffle got his wish, and I got this pick right!

12.) New York Jets - Chris Gamble, CB, Ohio State: Jets had some troubles this year on defense, and CB was a concern for them. This is a toss-up here between Gamble and D.J. Williams, but addressing the CB position is what the Jets attempt to acquire with this pick.

1 YEAR LATER: Tough to argue with NY for taking the eventual DROY, Gamble wouldve been nice still.

13.) Buffalo Bills - Kellen Winslow Jr., TE, Miami: Instant playmaker on offense, something that this anemic unit needs. Bledsoe and Moulds couldnt do it all, as Reed or Shaw were unable to step up as a true #2 WR in the passing game. So, Bills combat that by picking a slot-type TE that can break ther game wide-open.

1 YEAR LATER: Lee Evans had a great year, Winslow wouldve also had a good year(maybe he wouldnt have been injured)

14.) Chicago Bears - Marcus Spears, DE, LSU: Might be a reach here, but Chicago needs some help on the DL. Urlacher was not the same this year after his DL was eaten alive by offense lines, and Spears is a player that can take away some of that weakness and turn it into a strength.

1 YEAR LATER: Spears never declared for the draft, but they did go DL with Tommie Harris

15.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Steven Jackson, RB, Oregon State: The Bucs NEED a running game. I know some will say WR, but seriously, Jurevicious is coming back from injury and McCardell is now on the Pro Bowl team, they did fine without Keyshawn and a running game will take even more of that pressure of the passing game.

1 YEAR LATER: WR was the right choice, I was wrong in this case.

16.) San Francisco 49ers - Michael Clayton, WR, LSU: Terrell Owens' future is up for grabs, Tai Streets looks to be nothing more than a #2 and Brandon Lloyd is emerging as a star. Clayton will make this fofense as a whole make-up for T.O. and can reg-gain some of that offensive prowess that they lacked this year.

1 YEAR LATER: Missed the Clayton pick by 1, damn.

17.) Cincinnati Bengals - D.J. Williams, OLB, Miami: Pretty simple choice, the D still isn't that great, but with a defensive HC like Marvin Lewis, grabbing Williams here makes perfect sense as they try to find a replacement for Takeo Spikes.

1 YEAR LATER: Same person in same spot, just different team :)

18.) New Orleans Saints - D'Angelo Hall, CB, Virginia Tech: New orleans big problem was defense, well and kicking extra points in crucial situations. Hall adds playmaking skills to this team, plus would make a good kick returner alongside Lewis as Hall brings potent special teams skills.

1 YEAR LATER: N.O. would be absolutely loving this pick if it came true, but the Buckeye in me could never put Hall over Gamble

19.) Minnesota Vikings - Will Smith, DE, OSU - Vikings throw down their clipboards as the Saints select D'Angelo hall, and need to come up with their contigency plan now. Hovan and Williams loked great out there last year, time to add that extra ingredient to the DL and this line could look something like the Carolina Panthers DL.

1 YEAR LATER: Missed by 1 again, Udeze was their pick so DE was a priority at least.

20.) Miami Dolphins - Vernon Carey,OT, Miami: Well ****, anytime you have QB's named Fiedler and Griese, you better stack up on your offensive line, something that the dolphins apparently forgot about while signing Sammy Knight and Junior Seau last offseason. Carey is a great athlete, very versatile, and can play anywhere on the Ol that you place him, something the Dolphins really need.

1 YEAR LATER: Not sure what to make of this pick, he went 2nd round but it was a reach.

21.) New England Pariots - Kevin Jones, RB, Virginia Tech: Even though it seems like Brady can do it all, imagine how this team would look with a true NFL starting RB on the team. They'll take their shot in getting one by drafting Kevin Jones

1 YEAR LATER: This was before the Dillon trade.

22.) Dallas Cowboys - David Pollack, DE, Georgia: Another motor on the defensive side of the ball to go along with the already stout Cowboys defense. Nothing to upgrade their offense with this pick, the needs would all be reaches, so Dallas stacks up on the DL and hopes to return to playoff glory.

1 YEAR LATER: Pollack, thankfully for the Broncos this year, stayed in school.

23.) Seattle Seahawks - Derrick Strait, CB, Oklahoma: Shawn Springs has an undecided future in Seattle, and even if he stays, his time there will be limited. Marcus Trufant looks like the real deal, pinning him with Straight could creat havoc for opposing offenses.

1 YEAR LATER: I'm not even sure where Derrick Strait went, I seem to have about as much talent in evaluating CBs as the Broncos do, and that sucks.

24.) Denver Broncos - Rashaun Woods, WR, Oklahoma State: Woods is dropping big time with a quoted "fragile" body and slower speed. But this could be the S.O.D. and Denver would be foolish to let him pass, with the aging WR core that they have. Woods is a playmaker, shows up best for big games, and can add some extra potency to an already good Broncos offense.

1 YEAR LATER: I wouldve liked this pick, Rashaun is a fave of mine coming out, I probably homered a bit so we could get him.

25.) Green Bay Packers - Sean Jones, S, Georgia: The Packers have been trying to find a safety to go alongside of Darren Sharper. May be a reach here as Jones is a bit inexperienced and that could hurt him the first few years in the league, but Jones will develop into a good safety and will help the packers in the secondary.

1 YEAR LATER: Jones got hurt in training camp and was out for the season, looks like the Pack needed some secondary help though

26.) Tennessee Titans - Ben Troupe, TE, Florida: Frank Wycheck may be done, and if not, he will be done shortly. Troupe will take his spot and fill in nicely for him. the more weapons that Steve McNair has, the better, and Troupe has proven this year that he is a formiddable weapon on the field and can certainly help the Titans.

1 YEAR LATER: i Believe I got this one right as well, yay for me.

27.) St. Louis Rams - Nat Dorsey, OT, Georgia Tech: With pace and Turley, OT may seem a bit strange. But, Dirsey is said to be quite a good OG as well, and the rams still need OL help even with pace and Turley.

1 YEAR LATER: I seemed to **** the next pick up though...

28.) Kansas City Chiefs - Jonathan Vilma, ILB, Miami: Kansas City HAS to go defense in round 1, and LB would be a good place to start their rebuilding of that "D." Vilma is a smaller type of LB, but has great spped and is a sure tackler and good hitter as well.

1 YEAR LATER: THANK YOU GOD!

29.) Carolina Panthers - Nathan Vasher, CB, Texas: All the talk going into the STL game was how the Panthers CB's were going to do againstthe Rams great WR's. The reason: Panthers CB's aren't that good. Vasher looks to add a shutdown corner style of play to carolina, as somehow Carolinas defense gets even better.

1 YEAR LATER: Again, my talent evaluation at the CB position could be worse than the Broncos...

30.) Indianapolis Colts - Teddy Lehman, OLB, Oklahoma: Colts have a wonderful offense, that's obvious to everyone, but the D is lacking big time. The young secondary will be improved so no need to go there right now, DL looks good with Freeney emerging as a great pass rusher, so it's onto the LB spot to improve.

1 YEAR LATER: Wouldn't have been a bad choice, a reach yes but that D still sucks

31.) Philadelphia Eagles - Shaun Cody, DE, USC: Tough to pick with these Eagles, this team is pretty well off at all positions. Cody can play both DE ad DT, and will help the Eagles with the pass rush(which DC Jim Johnson would love) and with the run-stuffing, which obviously they need since Ahman Green was running up and down on them all game long.

1 YEAR LATER: Another guy who thankfully didnt declare

32.) New England Patriots - Michael Jenkins, WR, Ohio State: The Patriots have a good cohesive defense, and already picked up their future starting RB, now they go with WR as another weapon for Brady. Jenkins is a lanky 6"5, a big target out there that Brady can toss it up to and he'll get it. a big play WR to complement Troy Brown and David Patten, who are primarily more of a possession type WR's.

1 YEAR LATER: GO BUCKS!!!

3. Arizona Cardinals: Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Miami-Ohio
4. New York Giants: Robert Gallery, OT, Iowa
