it sounds like you have issues with your local government. Monument, CO has been battling Walmart and their city council for the same reasons. It got so bad that the town recalled their election of certain council members. Still no Walmart.

The fight is still heavy here ..............
2 more meetings , I think it will turn into 6 more ........... we lost a fight about putting a Mini Mart out past 15 th street ...... that was out in the middle of nowhere , now it is a cluster **** .......
we had a 750 Housing Projects crammed down our throat on the eastside of Casper alone , several hundred spread out through casper alone another 1,000 + in bar Nunn ....... 2 nd street extension is just about filled up . car lots out there and a bunch of office buildings ..........
if the second wal Mart passes , then all is lost , as for our small town heritage ,According to an article on Bizjournals.com, the online edition of American Cities Business Journals, Casper ranked eighth out of 226 U.S. labor markets for its 3.5 percent annual rate of job creation. Casper tied with Sheboygan, Wis., in percentage growth terms. Las Vegas, Nev., topped the rankings at 5.1 percent. me and the wife have talked about selling everything we own and going to Riverton or Gilllette .........

I maybe the single worst handyman in the world. If you remember the wife has us painting the new house :saywhat: . So I go down to my local hardware store and ask the college idiot for 5 gallons of navajo white satin paint. He tears the top off the 5 gallon bucket so now he cant use the shacker machine. So he proceeds to mix up the paint mixture with a drill and some kind of attachment. I go home that saturday and begin painting right away. Finish the living room and watch football on Sunday. The next Saturday I open up my 5 gallons of paint and mix the crap out of it. Start painting the kitchen well as I come around to the livingroom wall I notice the color does not match :cuss: . Take the 5 gallons back with a sample of the original color and the college idiot says no prob I can color match that and give you 4 one gallon cans of the first color. Great so I go home and repaint the kitchen with my new color matched paint. Then watch football on Sunday. The next saturday I open up my second can of "color matched" paint and find I now have my 3rd color :gripe: . I take the remaining paint down to my friend the college idiot and tell him to shove them up his arse and give me my $ back :cuss: . Now Im heading for sherman williams.

Wal Mart imports alot of its stuff from over seas , that means they are not buying from American Producers ....... Wal Mart is huge , that would be an incredible boost to our locla production sales ...........

heres this, i knew a guy that worked at wal mart, and he said theyre the most cutthroat corporation in America, they want to put everyone out of business and thats it. Look at Kmart. Theyve been in the **** house for years now since walmart. With that being said, i like walmart, theyve got some good products and at a good price. some. some of their **** is tailored to the trailer park residents and thats fine. everyones been there.
hey, its the American way and anyone that says they wouldnt do it the same way is a damn liar. like it or hate it, its not going anywhere. btw, dont get me wrong, im all about the mom and pop places still, but most of the time, im all about the "money in my pocket" thing

The corporate powers that be (powers for which the current administration is merely a proxy) are moving toward one goal: an America where there is only one store, one cable news channel, one political party, etc., etc.
Makes you wonder whether Robb and the Bible thumpers are right.

I agree. I hate Walmart.
Although it is cheaper for stuff like laundry detergent, shampoo, cleaning stuff...I just can't bring myself to go there though...The parking lots are the worse! I prefer Target. Their merchandise is better quality and their store is a lot cleaner.

Damn Spyder - they just opened a new Super Walmart a couple of miles from my house - just over the hill from Dove Valley. My wife dragged me over there tonight and the place already smells like burned cooking grease. People smell like they have not had a bath in two weeks, most men have mullets. Why can't they keep these rat holes in KC where they belong. I'll be damned if I am going to eat any food from that place.

But it's going in just south of Monument, at baptist Road. It will have a similar impact there as it would in Monument.

I'm not a Wal-Mart fan. It stinks in there and there is just way too many people. I can only stand to go there at 2 in the morning if I'm hard up for something. I like to try and suppport the other stores rather than Wal-mart. Its just too big and getting bigger. I work at Malt-O-Meal and we are so dependant on their business Wal-Mart
pretty much dictates almost everything we do/make. Whatever Wal-Mart wants from us they get.

we are winning the fight
Wal- Mart Grant Denied
CasperBY: AMIE BAUER OPPONENTS TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW WEST SIDE SUPER WAL-MART IN CASPER ARE CELEBRATING AFTER STATE OFFICIALS REJECT A BUSINESS READY GRANT.
THE STATE LOAN AND INVESTMENT BOARD DENIED A 1.4 MILLION DOLLAR GRANT THAT WOULD HAVE INDIRECTLY HELPED THE PROJECT.
ALTHOUGH SOME ARE CALLING THIS A VICTORY AGAINST THE CORPORATE GIANT, OTHERS SAY THE DEFEAT WILL ONLY BACKFIRE ON THE TAXPAYERS.
MARLA TROUTMAN IS JUST OF SEVERAL CASPER RESIDENTS WHO ARE SAYING "NO" TO THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF A NEW WEST SIDE SUPER WALMART.
"NOT ONE PENNY OF MY TAX DOLLARS SHOULD GO TO THAT." MARLA SAYS.
AND THE WYOMING STATE LOAN AND INVESTMENT BOARD AGREES. THE BOARD DENIED THE MILLION DOLLAR GRANT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN USED TO BUILD STREETS , SEWER AND WATER LINES ON PROPERTY ADJACENT TO THE NEW SUPERCENTER.
ITS MONEY, CITY COUNCIL MEMBER PAUL BERTOLGIO SAYS WOULD NOT DIRECTLY HELP WAL-MART BUT INSTEAD BE VITAL TO THE GROWTH OF THE COMMUNITY.
"WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT WALMART HERE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SUBSEQUENT BUSINESS; ANOTHER SCHOOL OUT THERE." BERTOLGLIO SAYS.
HE SAYS THE REJECTION OF THE GRANT COULD MEAN HIGHER UTILITY RATES AND TAXPAYERS COULD END UP PAYING FOR THE BILL THEMSELVES.
"IF WE CAN`T FUND IT FROM THE STATE WE WILL LOOK INTO INTERNAL FUNDS WATER AND SEWER AS WELL AS GENERAL FUNDS. WE WILL RAISE OUR RATES AND EITHER WAY THE TAXPAYER WILL BE PAYING FOR THIS."
NOT ONLY WILL TAXPAYERS HAVE PAY OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKETS BUT PAY THE PRICE FOR SHUTTING THE DOOR ON BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT.
"WHAT IF IT WAS A LOWES? ARE WE GOING TO START PICKING AND COMPANIES WE DON`T LIKE AND START DISCRIMINATING AGAINST THEM? WE CAN`T DO THAT. IT SENDS A TERRIBLE SIGNAL OUT OF THIS COMMUNITY." SAYS BERTOGLIO.
Quote:Spiders comments
My answer is , this isnt a Lowes , this is a second Wal Mart , and we already just got a 5% increase in our utillities cost , before this grant was turned down .....
Now Growth is important , we do need to create oppertunities for our Children so they dont leave the state when they turn 18 .... But creating 2 Super Wal Marts for a county that has 66 thousand People in it ( last census take in 2000 . I am sure it is alot higher now ) is a strain on the local business here .......
BUT MARLA BELIEVES AS CITIZENS WITH A VOICE, THAT`S JUST WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO PROTECT THE FUTURE OF HER COMMUNITY.
"WHY SHOULD WE CONTRIBUTE TO A PROJECT LIKE THAT WHO IS PUTTING PEOPLE OUT OF WORK.. OUT-SOURCING JOBS ALL OVER THE WORLD. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR THAT" SAYS MARLA.
