I cant wait till my boy starts playing sports. I love watching my daughter........ who would have guessed that 7th grade volleyball could have entertainment value. They get pretty competative.

It's good to get them started early. My dad didn't let me play football until I got to highschool. I was way behind the guys that played for years. I was teammates with Az Hakim. I was taller than him, just as fast, and had the same type of moves, but he had been playing since he was a little kid, and it showed. It showed mostly by him getting all the chances from the coaches to become a great player. The coaches had their group of guys that put in position to make plays, all of who had played for years and the coaches already knew them. Many of us that hadn't played for years got lost in the shuffle. If my son decides to play highschool football, he won't have to go through all the crap that I had to.

I didn't start fb till 7th grade and I played two years in college and loved it...was undersized but had the jist of it. I played hoops since 4th grade and two years in college but if i had played fb from 4th i think i could still be playing. And now i ref little kids sports and get more rewarding laughs from the 4th graders playing fb.

These latest photos were shot on a rainy day.

I shot some highschool basketball last night, I'll post some shots.

Check out my brothers photos from the UCLA/USC game.

http://www.orangemane.com/BB/attachment.php?attachmentid=9962&stc=1I thought <a href="http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/395972" target="_blank">Quentin Griffin</a> was out for the season with the torn ACL.

Seriously, nice pictures. What camera are you using? I'm considering upgrading to a digital SLR, they're so expensive, though, and I don't want the Canon Digital Rebel. I'd really like to get the Canon EOS 10D.

I was using a Canon 1D with a 300mm lens and a 1.4 converter, making it a 400mm lens. I rented the equipment for about $200, and sold the pictures to the parents. I cleared about $400 for each day. It was decent for my first two times out, but in the future I'm going to have a much better set up and make a lot more.

I'm about to buy a Canon 10D. It's a lot cheaper than the 1D. I'm going to have to get a 1D at some point to shoot sports. The 1D takes 8 pictures per second, while the 10D only takes 4. That's a big difference when it comes to sports. But the 10D is good for just about everything else that'll I'll be shooting. I want to shoot weddings next year because there is a lot of money to be made there for a little amount of work. The 10D will do just fine.

Scrap the film stuff. If I had shot the football games with film I would have spent a good $300 on buying, processing, and printing all that film. With digital, I spent about $30 on the printing. I just printed the stuff I needed. I took about 600 pictures each day, and only had to print about 70 of them. With film, I would have had to print all 600. Well, if I was using film, I wouldn't have taken 600 shots, making it harder to get good shots of each kid.

That kid runs more like a power back. Take a look at replies 11 and 12. He ran that kid over. The Canon 1D can get those two shots. The 10D can't because the shutter isn't fast enough. All three of the shots of that kid came on the same play. That's what is great about the 1D, you can get just about everything.
