This is why owners should handcuff those backups...

http://profantasysports.com/fb/PFSiBreakingNews_Holmes2.htm

Priest Holmes is in Florida today getting a second opinion on his sprained knee (The Chiefs are listing it as a grade-2 strain to the right knee). A grade-2 sprain is essentially a partial-tear in the ligament, and can either require rest or surgery depending on the individual and the situation. Coach Dick Vermeil said that Holmes getting a second opinion is no reason for alarm. "He's concerned because this is a thing he's done before (in Baltimore)," Vermeil said. "You just can't predict when it's going to heal enough to allow him to play."

That statement from Vermiel is coach talk for "I don't want you to worry you, but I’m worried."

According to sources close to the Chiefs running back, "My opinion is he won't play anymore this season. He (Holmes) says he had something like it in Baltimore."

The knee injury Holmes suffered in Baltimore before becoming a free agent acquisition of the Chiefs did require surgery.

If you were savvy enough to roster Derrick Blaylock then you get a replacement that will help ease the loss the Chiefs future Hall of Fame running back. Remember that Blaylock and Holmes are two different animals. Holmes is much more demonstrative in his running style and is capable of breaking tackles and finding the end zone like no running back in league.

Do not be surprised if the Chiefs tank the season and use more of Larry Johnson as the season moves forward. After Blaylock received 33 carries last week he came out of the game with a gimp knee and is subject to injury on any given play. If you participate in a deep league and have afforded yourself roster room for your playoff run this year consider stashing Larry Johnson on your bench. If the Holmes injury situation unfolds as described in this update, the Chiefs will have little choice but to not only use Larry Johnson, but will be given an opportunity to see what they actually have in the bruising running style of the Penn State grad.

Since Holmes' playing status for the remainder of the season is in doubt, and depending on your philosophy of "in good faith", you might consider shopping Holmes to an owner that is deep at running back and willing to gamble on Priest returning later this year. The Chiefs are in essence bankrupt of any post-season hopes, and without Holmes are a long shot to finish at .500 on the season. So there is little upside to rushing Holmes back into action if it risks further injury to his knee.

What I am saying is that I believe the Holmes source is correct when they verbalized Holmes’ playing status for Week #11, is actually his status for the rest of the season, "Doubtful."

It is worth noting that Holmes has in the past surprised us before, but those occasions had post-season implications on the line. That is simply not the case with the Chiefs this year.

There hasn’t been an official announcement on Holmes’ playing status, and the report from the Florida surgeon offering Holmes a second opinion on his injured knee has yet to be determined. But weighing the facts, the circumstances, and what is at stake if Priest Holmes played again this season simply for personal goals---tips the scales in a direction that makes Holmes’ return this year unlikely.

Hey Bman how is that roster looking now?

You may have been stuck on 666 for too long!!

Good thing you shipped McAllister to Philly for Pittman and D Davis.

LOL Shack... I wasn't gonna be mean and pick up Johnson until I gave you a fair chance to grab him hehe...

Think the Chefs are glad they didnt trade LJ yet?

I don't know about the FF aspect, but LJ hasn't looked very good to me the few times I've seen him play this year. There was a reason he was 3rd on the depth chart.

More good news for Shack:

"Duce Staley, RB PIT

News: According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers running back Duce Staley (hamstring) was held out of practice on Wednesday."

more trash in the dumpster of the fantasy world...........he isn't even an eclair ala Brad Hoover, he's more like a 1/2 eaten Ritz cracker w/o any squeezy cheese.

w/o Priest I'll be lucky to make the playoffs........c'mon Duce get healthy

But two questions ...

1. Does Bettis ever actually practice?

2. Why is he not playing for the Fat Bastards?

With Holmes, you gotta wonder if this is the end of not only his season, but his entire career. Dude damn near retired last year as it was, but now, he's gotta be seriously considering the Old Dude route ;)

With LJ, I'd say if you have the roster space... it makes sense. He is a low rent aquisition and could actually see alot of ball assuming the Chefs fold up their tents after this weekend. Plus, they do have a very favorable schedule down the stretch... A worthy bench risk IMO

Wait... I just talked myself into aquiring him in a couple leagues... brb

oh I fully assume Duce won't play this weekend

I'm not entirely sure how a slightly pulled hammy lasts upwards of 4 weeks, but somehoe Duce has managed to pull it off.

I just wish this league allowed you to do a run and shoot offense (1 back 3 Wide) b/c I don't want to start any of my other RBs if Duce won't play.

well now it's for sure Duce will miss his THIRD GAME IN A FREAKIN' ROW!!!

aren't these guys well conditioned athletes? How does a hammy make you miss this many games?? UGHH!!!

check out these RBs I'm forced to chose from Travis Minor, Brad Hoover, Michael Bennett and Larry Johnson

UGH, my collapse continues...like I said before I am not going to make the playoffs.

Good god... how bad is he hurt? I mean 3 weeks in a row? Something tells me the Steelers aren't disclosing the full extent of the injury. Meanwhile, those peeps that jumped on the Bus early in the season are being big time rewarded.... unreal.

from the pitts post, Cowher admitted they are being more cautious since Bettis is playing so well right now

so my guess is, probably another 2 more weeks......but by the then Shack Attack will have fallen by the way side

sigh........

From Sportsline:

Priest Holmes, RB KC

News: According to reports, Kansas City coach Dick Vermeil said that Priest Holmes (knee) will likely be out at least two more weeks. Holmes has a grade-2 strain of his right knee.

Analysis: Priest is officially listed as doubtful for Week 11 against New England but it is almost certain that Derrick Blaylock (knee, probable) will start against the Patriots and apparently against the Chargers in Week 12. It appears the best case scenario is to see Priest back on the field for Week 13 against the Raiders.

Tice is trying to mess with my head again

News: The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports coaches have not yet decided whether Bennett or Onterrio Smith will start at running back in Week 11. Analysis: Both players will get significant playing time, with the starter likely to be determined by the nature of the first scripted play.

Holmes won't be gone all year. He is to selfish to do that. He wants to be on the news so his Dad can see him in Iraq, so he will force himself to play some games. If nothing else but to run it in from the 1 yard line.

To all chief fans reading this...I don't give a damn what you think so screw you asswipes.

Do not be surprised if the Chiefs tank the season and use more of Larry Johnson as the season moves forward.

Ahaahahahahaa, haven't they already done that? Ha!
