I want this guy. Whats chances of him coming out this year? This year or Next Year.. I want him. I think he's an ideal replacement for Plummer. I'm gonna pray for him.

He is a great story. His uncle is John L Smith, coach at Michigan State.

Yeah he's good. He played in high school with Watkins, who he will be playing against this sunday. I just hope they don't totally murder my Cougars. Guess we'll have to see.

RTribbey,
I posted this a while back in the general discussion forum. This kid is going to be amazing, only problem is we would have to give up our first rounder this year for sure to even have a shot at him in the 2006 draft (If he doesn't come out this year). Right now he is in the top 5 voting for the Heisman and would be #1 hands down if he was on a winning team in any BCS conference.
Besides being very inteligent, having great field vision, 4.6-4.7 speed, with a strong accurate arm...The kid eats nails for breakfast. I've seen him get smacked all over Rice Eccles and the kid takes it like he was a bulldozing HB. The Utes run a spread triple option offense where he is avg. over 50 yds a game.
I won't be able to watch this kid play in anything but a Bronco uni. I just hope that we have the nerve to give up our first rounder in 2005 to have a shot at him, cause I promise you Alex is going to be better then Big Ben his rookie year. I will also pray my friend

"- Utah QB Alex Smith has reportedly been given an invite to the Heisman ceremonies and could be a dark horse to win it. He'll steal some votes and is the Ralph Nader of this election. The interesting thing about Alex is that he's very much on the fence about the draft. He's a junior this season, but came to Utah as an academic junior. For those of you that are not yet in college, this is an amazing feat and even more of a testament to Smith's intelligence and maturity. If Head Coach Urban Meyer leaves the Mormon State for the rich mountains of Washington or the beaches of Florida, Smith could jump ship too. This not only affects these two men, but many others. Top prep recruit Josh Portis has given a verbal commit to Utah, but it remains to be seen what he would do if Meyer was gone. A story to watch for sure."
