The Daily Oklahoman is reporting today that Callahan yelled "(expletive) hillbillies!" toward the Sooner crowd as he walked off the field.

A Nebraska player allegedly assaulted one of the members of the "ruf/neks" ..eh, not that I care. I hate those guys.

Oh..and Buffalos, as much as I dislike you guys for ending our bowl streak, and running out on the field acting like you just won the national championship...i'll be rootin hard for ya when you play those silly Fuskers. Go Buffs!

It's never too early for CU-NU smack...... :TJnPopps:

As far as the hillbilly comments, the whole Nebraska bench was heckled by a group right behind them the whole game. When Nebraska spiked the ball and kicked the field goal with time running out, it spoiled the shutout and caused OU to not cover the spread. What Callahan was upset about was the crowd booing his team for kicking the field goal when OU had their starters in, calling time outs and trying to score up by 30pts with 40 seconds left in the game......

NU coaches call pregame collision an accident

WORLD-HERALD NEWS SERVICE
NORMAN, Okla. - An Oklahoma newspaper called it an altercation. Nebraska is calling it an accident.

What happened during pregame activities of Saturday night's NU-Oklahoma game is still a mystery. The Daily Oklahoman reported Sunday that NU offensive lineman Darren DeLone was involved in a reported sideline altercation with a member of the Ruf/Neks, an OU spirit group. The report said DeLone attacked Adam Merritt in the northeast corner of Owen Field during pregame warmups after being heckled by members of the Ruf/Neks.

Citing witnesses in the student section and on the sideline, the paper reported DeLone head- butted Merritt in the face with his helmet and shoved him into the 3-foot brick wall.

Nebraska Coach Bill Callahan issued a statement on the incident, calling it a collision.

Said Callahan: "Several members of the Husker football team, including at least two coaches, witnessed the collision and immediately summoned a member of Nebraska's medical staff to assist. Players and coaches spoke with officials immediately following the game.

"All those involved with the University of Nebraska Athletic Department and its football team are sorry the accident happened and wish the young man a quick and full recovery."

Merritt reportedly was taken to Norman Regional Hospital after having several teeth knocked out and suffering facial lacerations. Merritt was treated and released from the hospital late Saturday.

OU's campus police declined to comment Sunday on any investigation. He referred questions to a sergeant who would be on duty today.

DeLone played a reserve role in Saturday night's 30-3 loss to the Sooners.

Personally, I wasn't there, I don't know what happened. But why are fans on the field getting in players faces anyhow? (this goes for the Missouri incident last year too).

Looking forward to the NU-CU game. A win by NU and Nebraska keeps their bowl streak alive. Funny thing is, I'll be in Denver during the game.......

Being one of the winningest programs in history, they probably are not very used to it....... It's kind of like my OrangeMane FF team. I've been very good at fantasy football in the past.... this years team sucks.... I'm not sure how to handle it....... :'(

Hey rude', are you going to watch the game with Pez and the other people at the watch party? I plan on being there aswell. I need to get ahold of Pez to find out where it's going to be and all that. We could use a bugeater at the party. Someone to bash if we win, and someone to beat up if we lose. It's a win win.

Outside of the Big 12 North fans no one even cares about Nebraska anymore. That right there tells you how far they have dropped.

The same thing could have been said about Oklahoma a few years ago, and now they are right back in national title contention every year. Nebraska is rebuilding, but I'm confident that they will be back......

To think that they ran Solich out of town because he wasn't "good enough" to the boosters who are used to national champions. Callahan comes in and Nebraska might not even be eligible for a bowl for the first time in 35 years. OUCH!

Charges recommended for NU player

By The Associated Press
NORMAN -- The University of Oklahoma Police Department has recommended that a University of Nebraska football player be prosecuted for felony assault and battery for injuring a member of an OU spirit group.
A report asking for the charge against Cornhusker offensive lineman Darren DeLone was being presented to the Cleveland County District Attorney's Office, Sgt. Gary Robinson said Friday.

Robinson declined comment on details in the police report.

"The district attorney will review the report and will make the decision on whether to file charges," Robinson said.

District Attorney Tim Kuykendall was in a meeting and did not immediately return telephone calls.

Adam Merritt, a member of the spirit groups, Ruf/Neks, lost two teeth after an encounter described by witnesses as an attack on Merritt by DeLone prior to Saturday's OU-Nebraska football game.

Witnesses claimed DeLone, who was going through pre-game drills on the northeast corner of Owen Field, charged Merritt, rammed his helmet into Merritt's face and then shoved the freshman into a brick wall.

Merritt, 19, was knocked unconscious by the blow and was treated and released from Norman Regional Hospital.

In a statement, the University of Nebraska's athletic department referred to the incident as a "collision."

Good grief I think Nebraska needs to make anger management apart of their requirements to play on the football team. First they clobber a Missouri fan post game and now they clobber a Oklahoma spirit group member with his helmet!
