The Bush administration has concluded that Osama bin Laden was present during the battle for Tora Bora [in 2001] and that failure to commit U.S. ground troops to hunt him was its gravest error in the war against al Qaeda, according to civilian and military officials with first-hand knowledge.
Intelligence officials have assembled what they believe to be decisive evidence, from contemporary and subsequent interrogations and intercepted communications that bin Laden began the battle of Tora Bora inside the cave complex along Afghanistan's mountainous eastern border. Though there remains a remote chance that he died there, the intelligence community is persuaded that bin Laden slipped away in the first 10 days of December. (Duh!)
After-action reviews, conducted privately inside and outside the military chain of command, describe the episode as a significant defeat for the United States. A common view among those interviewed outside the U.S. Central
Command is that Army Gen. Tommy R. Franks, the war's operational commander, misjudged the interests of putative Afghan allies and let pass the best chance to capture or kill al Qaeda's leader. Without professing second
thoughts about Tora Bora, Franks has changed his approach fundamentally in subsequent battles, using Americans on the ground as first-line combat units.

Boy, it sure is a good thing we have over 100,000 troops in Iraq so that we can catch... uh... I guess so we can catch anyone in Iraq... But not Bin Laden... You know, the guy who's responsible for 9/11. The worst terrorist attack in history and killed 3,000 people. :kiddingme
HOW IS THIS ELECTION EVEN CLOSE?!?!?!? (#@*$&(*#$)*(&$)(&*!!!!!
IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11!!!!
Calm down now. Breathe the cool cool air into the body. Now, release the hot air and continue to breathe. That's it. Relax. Feel the cool air filling your lungs and spreading throughout you. Breathe deeply and release the hot toxic air within. Excellent.

I love the hysteria before the election.
So entertaining.

What's really going to be entertaining is the look on Panocha's face when he has to start saying "President Kerry."

Hysteria? Is it hysterical that our troops are dying in a phony war? Is it hysterical that the man responsible for the 9/11 attacks is free? Is it hysterical that due to his freedom he is seen as a hero which provides mucho recruitment for more terrorists?
Is it hysterical that Bush started with a massive surplus and now the nation has a massive debt?
Please let me know. I'm quite curious.

I can't really understand it either. Maureen Dowds article absolutely killed me today with the reverse thought campaigning stuff.
They claim that the Bin Laden video is bad for Kerry, without even thinking through the fact that Bin Laden wouldn't be making videos if the administration had done it's job.
I can't wait to be done with this crew. In my eyes, they have been an embarrassment to our nation.
I'm not a dem, so I won't be re-electing Kerry to be sure, but I would rather have a circus monkey in the white house voting with thrown feces than this current consortium of criminals. :TJnPopps:

And, leave us not forget, Bin Laden wouldn't have succeeded on 9/11 if the Smirk & Sneer junta had done its job.

Amen to that!

Panocha is a delusional cave-dweller who believes the Kennebunkport Cowboy is infallible and above accountability--in spite of the facts.
He will undoubtedly go on believing this even after Smirk is back on the ranch cutting brush and roping calves.
Countdown to extinction for the bush cult.

I don't hold Bush responsible for 9/11 or the Recession. Both of these events were set in motion long before he took office (and I do mean 'took').
If anything, I hold Bush Sr. and Clinton responsible for 9/11. Both found creative ways of pissing in the guys boots.

Your hysterical ramblings are what's good and entertaining. Blather about a "phony war" just allows for quick assessment of your goofy point of view, rendering you mere entertainment.
And Pinhead, if Kerry does win, I'll be good and worried about you. You won't have a giant boogeyman to spend the long hours of the night obsessing over. What ever will you do to pass the long hours away?

Thanks for the response. You couldn't answer a single question with anything approaching intellectual honesty. You have now saved me time in the future from responding seriously to anything you have to say.

You ramble about a "phony war" and then claim I'm the one incapable of intellectual honesty?
Do you always have Irony for breakfast?

Some blame goes there, but much goes deeper in History. Roosevelt was too sick to stand up to Stalin and let the northern arab states become annexed by the Soviets. Carter tried to force his religious morals on the world by sanctioning any country that did not agree with his morals. He and Stansfield Turner destroyed our human intelligence which led to the intelligence failures pre 9/11.
And, leave us not forget, Bin Laden wouldn't have succeeded on 9/11 if the Smirk & Sneer junta had done its job.
Even Clarke doesn't claim that.
Why do you?
