Do they influence your buying habits?

Mostly no. However, an advertisement that shows a new product I was previously unaware of has the potential of influencing me but mostly it is the product itself. I buy things based on need, not desire (mostly, sometimes I splurge but I cant say its because of advertising).

There is one other scenario that advertising may affect me, but not in the desired effect usually intended by the advertiser. Food advertisements when I am hungry will generally cause me to go buy something I saw on TV. If I see an IHop commercial I may go to Kelley's Country cooking for pancakes and/or waffles. If I see a McDonalds burger commercial, I may go to The Burger House for a 7 dollar swiss/mushroom burger.

Other than that though no.

I've been watching T.V. and an advertisment will come on for a food product and I will get hungry. sometimes I will even get off the couch and go to or go and get whatever was just advertised. Sirus radio almost got me, after seeing the promo where you get all the NFL games I found myself at bestbuy. However, they were sold out of the reciever that has the display of your favorite team so I put it off and have yet to get one put in. I have the NFL package on Direct Tv so what would be the point.

I think advertisement (major ad campaigns) has seriously passed the point of diminishing returns. The Bud commercials in the Superbowl are usually quite entertaining, but when I get to the store I still pick up a sixer of Fat Tire, not Bud. Pepsi usually has better ads than Coke, but I'll take my RC, thanks (I used to be a Coca-Cola guy but RC doesn't outsource, Coke and Pepsi do). Like Alec, I may try a new product that I saw an ad for, but I'm as likely to try a new product I happen to see on the shelves.

Anyone who votes no on this is living in fantasy land.

Obviously. If they didn't work, commercial television would have died in the 50's.

If you mean network TV, almost always no since I don't watch it other than sports. And I already know what every beer taste likes.

Do you think I am infulenced by Warren Sapp's stinky armpits? Only if I was unfortunate to be around him.

The only ads that even phase me are high dollar ads. Financial ads, Car ads.

I know the Gecko can do the robot. I know Dodge has a hemi. What a great strategy that is when oil is at 55 per gallon.

Then they have tire ads. All tires are superior to even 10 years ago, unless you buy Harry's retreads.

You can retread giant tires tho like on OF1.

I dunno, I watch the commercials, and honestly, none of us really know how much infulence they have. Harley or Dinet set was cool, but who wants a cut rate Harley?

I'm pretty set in my ways on most things....if it's something that appeals to me already then I might check it out...the rest is just judged on entertainment value alone.

I voted no cause I refer to Consumer Reports and owner feed back to chose what few purchases I do make.

I buy fresh fruit and veggies never canned or processed food

Hey! I thought you used subliminal advertising in your job.

I vote no, since i don't watch TV. When it comes to electronics, i buy based on user feed back & specs.

For cars, i drive a bucket, and i refuse to buy a new car. (it's a lousy investment).

and for food, i cook 90% of my meals, so fast food commercials don't really entice me.

Now i have bought things on advertisments, but i then researched it. For instance my valentine One radar detector. But i did research between 5 different radar detectors.
