I know this isn't the war room, but we might get better sampling here because many don't venture into the boiling oil of the war room. So humor me, this might be the most critical election of our time. If your not going or can't vote, please don't post, I want a fair sampling.

Well, I think you're being very unfair to Kerry by comparing him to Herman Munster.

Herman was much better looking.

Simple. We don't want football topics pushed off the main page because people are too stupid (or feel they're too special) to follow simple forum rules.

None of the football fans who visit this place want to the main board looking like Chiefs Planet in the middle of football season.

A thread can get pushed by some dweeb making a bunch of new threads on the front page.

The poll is meaningless in here because it's extremely partisan. Most conservative voters don't banter politics. That's why I wanted it left on the front page. I won't lose any sleep about it however. I could of asked Taco to stick it, no biggie. Most people on the mane don't come to this forum so this is essentially worthless now. :deadhorse

When we're in the "football season" mode, with the separate politics forum, there are going to be complaints about political topics on the main board. This thread was left on the main board until the complaints started... with something like 50 replies to the poll before it was moved. Given that other posters were beginning to register their objections, I really don't think TJ would have left it on the main page, much less stick it to the top. At any rate, anyone who has an issue with it being moved needs to take it up with me; not Teej.

Blue, here's a thought, you could make a thread on the front page that is sticky but it is only a poll. No one can post on it, give nobody the authority to post on it, but everybody can vote. If it's sticky, people can vote, but nobody can post, that might work. Maybe pass that on to TJ. Just my 2¢.

What would be the purpose in having a special forum for political topics if we're going to have political threads stuck at the top of the football forum? Page 1 of the football forum will only accommodate a certain number of threads, whether they're "normal" or sticky... and those who don't want to talk politics will complain if football threads get bumped to page 2 in order to accommodate a political thread. Plus, then those who post other non-football threads will complain if you move their thread to a subforum while allowing a political thread to remain on the football board... and reasonably so. Unless there's a compelling reason for a non-football thread to be on the main board, it belongs on the proper forum. Your proposed change would essentially put Mock's wishes over those of all the other posters who do not want this thread on the football board... I'm not sure TJ wants to send that message. If you like, I'll ask him, though... :P

Are you blind?

Getting a fair sampling in this room is impossible. It doesn't matter because it's not a full representative sampling. It's not a comment, it's a poll, and only a handfull of posters bother to go to hell central.

I honestly don't care, except I asked that it not be moved, it's only 10 days till the election, and it's brutally funny that BlueFlame would be the one to move it, the most political of all mods.

Blue, I could care less one way or another. I was just saying if somebody was curious of what the vote would come down to amoung OM members, you could see the poll (on the main board). No discussion, just a poll. Just for curiousity's sake. I don't even know if you can make a thread where nobody can post, where they can only vote. It was just an idea, thats all ;D

When one cuts through the bs, what you're really saying is that your request to keep the thread on the main page should overrule Telluride's and DONKEYSHOW's requests for it to be moved to the politics board.

My participation in political discussions is not relevant to following the board's rules and listening to the objections of other posters.

**************

I understand that you were only suggesting a possible compromise, P2W.. and I appreciate your effort... but sometimes, a situation arises where someone is going to be disgruntled no matter what action is taken and I think this is one of those instances. So the choice is... do we ignore the opinions of all those who want the main board to be untainted by politics... or do we honor those requests and just tick off Mock?

Fair sample this. Non NFL threads should be kept off the main board. I encourage everyone who supports Blueflame to post their comments so that Mock has a statistically significant sample that indicates that the population also wants the political threads kept on the political board.

Thanks for your help Blueflame.

I don't see anything wrong with keeping a presidential poll on the main page.
As pointed out earlier it's the best way to get the majority of posters to vote since most don't venture into this room. After all, this only happens every 4 years. I also know it's not my site and I don't make the rules so I won't complain either way but those that go running to the mods, you know who you are,

I'm not crying to anyone, I could care less at this point. It's just about painting the results by puting them in hell's kitchen. It's not like it's going make a difference anyway. It's a war year, it's 10 days from the election and the sampling would be more fair in the main forum.

I'm not losing sleep over it.

From my pov, it boils down to this... in moving the political thread, I followed the board's long-established "on-season" guidelines. If TJ wants the thread back on the main board, he can either move it back or start a new poll on the main board.

At the risk of echoing Mock's sentiments, I'm not losing sleep over it either; I did what I believe TJ... or likely any of the other mods... would have done and while it's regrettable that anyone would be upset, hey, I'm just following the rules.

For the last time, because it wasn't a discussion, and the sampling would of been more fair it wasn't an argument, and for a poll to be reasonably accurate, it has to be exposed to everyone. This election is incredibly close. I have a suspicion something will break soon to decide it, but what, I have no clue. Voter fraud is going to be rampant.
