You should be more scared of CB Champ 24...He called you out in another post. Maximus Beware..Just kidding pal. but do check it out.
So is this flick worth seeing?

I've heard it's very good, too. I'm gonna see it this week. I think the Japanese have a whole new way to look at horror, as opposed to the common 'slasher' flicks the U.S. produces by the bucketload. "The Ring" was also a Japanese re-make, and very original and scary too.
Plus...Sarah Michelle is kinda hot. :wiggle:

The grudge is a poor mans "the ring."
Would've been great, but it took forever to develop and you're confused about **** for most of the movie. A lot of flashbacks and flashforwards, not sure exactly what the hell is going on.
No movie is ever going to touch the exorcist in terms of pure scary, grudge hardly holds a candle to it.
Sorry I thought it was lame but the kids kitty cat voice scared my wife. If you want to see a good Japanese horror film check out audition. Anyone see Saw yet?

I saw the previews for that audtion movie on A/E's scariest movie moments on Halloween, talk about some MESSED up crap. If that movie disturbed Rob Zombie, then something has to be wrong with it, it looked psychotic.
I'd also like to hear reviews about saw.

This is a good website for horror movie reviews:
HorrorWatch.com (http://www.horrorwatch.com/modules/news/)
You have to take into account how enthusiastic these guys are for the subject matter and temper your own expectations somewhat, but they rarely steer you wrong.

I checked out Saw last weekend and I was impressed. I had high expectations going in and I wasn't disappointed at all afterwards. Clever and twisted film with an ending that caught me off guard.
I would recommend it.

Audition is straight up sick, I love the slasher gory movies, but this even freaked me out.
Don't want to give much away, but theres a part in the movie where the girl who went in for the audition cuts a guys foot off with just this thin metal line, just completely sick.

It's ok. I'm pretty good at guessing endings to movies and this one I couldn't get. But it's got some piss poor acting in it. Overall I'd give it 2 out of 4 stars.

Indeed, happens to the best of us. I haven't seen the grudge, but I'm sure the acting is just as stout as say...gigli.

The Grudge was an extremely well made film. I saw the original Japanese version called Ju-On recently. Same director, most of the same actors and many of the same scenes, just a slightly smaller budget. Hard to say which one was better, but I loved them both.

Scariest movie I ever saw was Batman & Robin.
I still have nightmares about those bat-nipples.
And people fighting over Uma Thurman.
And the chubby batgirl.
The horror.

in that case, I can't imagine why a film with the dude from princess bride isn't well acted
(there that fit better)

He did a better job of acting in Robin Hood: Men in tights.
The best part of SAW was the excessively cruel ways of dying.

I have this movie in the DVD player right now, The Grudge that is. I started it the other night, watched half of it and my husband decided to go to bed! The jerk! I'm still scared of the dark, so there was no way I was watching the rest by myself at night. I'll give my review when I get the courage or daylight time by myself to finish watching it. Ha!

My ass is actually healing quite well....ahead of the healing schedule in fact. I will go test it out when I go skiing on Saturday. I am about halfway back to butt clenching form. :) Thanks for asking, Sideburn.
I just finished watching the movie, btw. I'm a big weenie and I thought it pretty much sucked. Scary movies are always such a disappointment these days.

scariest movie ever? scarier than Deliverance? talk about changing a persons perspective. anyone think the same about camping for years after seeing that?
as for the exorcist, being a lil kid in catholic school at the time that movie scared the hell out of me and i didnt even see it til years later. however when i did see it... i thought damn 2 hours of boredom with 12 mins of terror. i was dissapointed despite my catholic upbringrinig.
nowadays movies dont scare me at all. but watching all the true crime shows on tlc history disc etc. i know the Real scary monsters could be living right next door.

Worst movie ever! Had such great actors as Johnny Depp, Ricky Lake (who gets knocked up and gives birth in the back of a car while it's in the middle of playing chicken), and Tracy Lords. There's others, but I need to go throw up now.

I watched a movie called Despiser last night. The writer/director/producer had Star Wars ambitions on a local summer stock production budget. This movie is laughably cheap all over, poor sets, bad actors, you name it. The real treat was the CGI, though. It was so bad, and so pervasive, that it was like watching live actors in a bad PlayStation I game for most of the movie. The movie was enjoyable strictly on a camp basis, but underneath all the amatuerism you could see they had some really good ideas. Give this guy a decent budget and he might put out a really cool movie.

I sometimes like a really really bad movie. I used to have a group of friends get together for "Chopsaki night" where we would watch old kung fu movies. The improbably plots, horrible moves, and the jaw dropping dumbness. Good stuff. Every now and again someone would whip out an Anime classic. Geeks. Got to love them.

I think she just did regular monster stuff to him, but even worse for him was the fact that Sarah Michelle Gellar burned him up with gasoline.

Ok. I just don't recall seeing any of the gore and stuff that happened when that helper gal got it when she was snooping around in the attic.
Of course the house was saved. They have to leave an opening for the sequel right? :~ohyah!:

One thing I thought was really cool about The Grudge was that it carried a PG13 rating. They really didn't show too much gore. That scene with the girl who lost her jawbone wasn't in the original Japanese version of the movie, either.
Another thing about Japanese horror that's a trip is how uncompromising it can be. The lovers of the cursed people often wind up cursed themselves. In American horror films, they seem to go out of their way to make most characters unsympathetic before they skrag 'em.

Well how bout that?! I never even noticed that it didn't have an R rating. Maybe that was my whole issue with the movie. I'm so used to the blood, gore, decapitation, torture, etc that I missed the actual fright of the movie. I never thought about it that way.
It did scare me though. That stupid clicking/screeching sound really had the hair standing up on the back of my neck, along with the cat/boy thing.

I'm glad someone besides myself had the misfortune of watching that awful movie. When I was a kid my mom made my sister and I watch that hairspray, AND FRICKEN CHORUS LINE. Funny thing is she changed her mind during that sick make out scene.

I finally saw it this weekend. It wasn't bad at all. I think they lost a little bit of the edge with all the jumping around in the flashbacks, but most of the gotcha' scenes were pretty well done.

spolier alert
dude jumping out of the window at the start was funny that stupid sound that was made before the dead lady would do something became annoying after awhile.
I didn't think the exorcist was all that scary give me the first halloween or the first freddy even the first couple of jason flicks. Now "forgotten" was scary that car crash and getting pulled right into the sky had me running for the exit, not really but still. Looks like the new keanu reeves movie is taking a page out of that flick.
