Curt is already looking like a goat. 6 runs allowed already? I was hoping Boston would come out strong, but it seems like the curse is already in progress.

My twinks had them on the ropes and they escaped. A Rod blew me up.
The Sox only hope was that the Twinks blew up the Yanks. They don't match up against New York whatsoever.

I spent three years traveling to the Boston area almost weekly. I hate those people. What a bunch of whining jerks. I think we should pay canada to annex New England so we don't have to listen to them anymore. The yankees have only one thing going for them - they aren't from Boston. Hope boston goes down in 4 and the yankees go down in 4 to who ever in the NL.

It's so typical Boston whining. They have an NFL team that has won 19 straight and still find a way to complain.

Sox can't let them push another run across if they want to have a chance to tie it up with Rivera on the mound in the 9th.

Who said the Sox don't match up well with the Yankthese? Mock? Boston won the season series bro.
Sox will still take this series in 7. Schilling had zero tonight and I have no clue why. I don't think he hit 90 MPH all night. Worse then his velocity was his control (or lack thereof). Power pitchers have to hit their spots. Curt was way off tonight. Unless he is injured, he will be back and he will win game 4 and game 7.
I wonder if Ruth gave a big blow at ortiz's shot in the 8th to knock it down from going over the wall?

My boys fought back valiantly tonight. The injury to Schilling's ankle in the Anaheim series is just the kind of thing that NY gets a break on. The poor guy had to get shot up with anesthetic before the game. Lucky for NY - as usual.
If Curt is himself, we win this one. We waited out Mussina like they do to Pedro - it was good to see.
And we get to Rivera now (never used to).
I've always liked Bernie Williams BTW. His final RBIs kept me from thinking about why Ortiz's hit fell short by a foot and remembering how if Manny plays that ball clean in the first inning that 2nd run doesn't score.

I think Houston wins that series though. They have the pitching to keep the Cards bats down to about 4 runs a game.

He has a bum ankle!
That's it. He got shot up before the game but couldn't generate his usual power because it's his pushoff foot.
Cursed?
It sure is statistical nonsense as to how, why, and when this stuff happens.

Pats, I know he has a bum ankle but i am praying it was somehow rust and not the injury. If it was in fact the ankle, the Sox are done. Schill hadn't pitched in a week. Hopefully, the ankle would have healed enough to not give him any problems.
Gawd I hope his ankle didn't cause this debacle tonight. If it did, the sox are toast.
If the ankle didn't heal up enough in 7 days, it sure as hell won't heal with Schill pitching games 4 and 7 on 3 days rest.

Hogan, I know season series don't mean chit when it comes to post season but the Stros took the season series from the Cards.
I would say that all 4 (Sox, Cards, Yanks, and Stros) are all pretty even in talent. Some have better lineups while others have better pitching. Clearly, no one is "Twice the club" as the others.

The Pirates took the season series against the Cards...they even swept a three game series against them when I was at PNC Park back in June......point being, you're right...the season series means nothing.
I don't believe in the Stros..sorry, I just don't......and given the matchup against the Yanks or Sox, the Cards are clearly better.......hey, I don't like it either....but better them than Boston or NY IMO.

Immutable Rule of the Baseball Universe: The Red Sox will lose in whichever fashion brings the most pain to the collective psyche of their fans.
This year they have two options:
1 - Another gut wrenching loss to the hated Yankees.
2 - A Game Seven loss to Roger Clemens.

Yes. all cities have part of that, but it's the Boston celtic fans that are infamous for it.
Several journalists have came out and said that they've been a bit scared at celtic games because of all the racial slurs that they've yelled.

Especially chanting that after their own columnist Bob Ryan made those remarks about slapping her.
There's a reason why so many journalists have been worried about covering that game, and why many opposing players tell their families to not go to the games in Boston.

IMO a third valid option would be a game seven loss to the Cards, since it would be a repeat of 1967. Sort of reinforce the curse myth.
1 would just make them more bitter. 2. would be the most devasting emotionally. 3. more in line with the cosmic curse... sort of a dopplinger thing.
But, I'd rather see any team beat the yankees.

It's nice to know that others are tired of the Bankees and their $200 million payroll.
If we don't beat them this year, we're screwed. They're gonna BUY EVERYBODY this offseason. They have a huge farm system and nobody left in it to trade. It's a good thing they have a bottomless well full of money. :tearhair:

I don't mind the redsox. My bosses are african americans who don't like fat white guys, like me. It's life. Folks like that are everywhere, in every line of work. So, you live in Mass, what are you supposed to do, quit being a baseball or basketball fan cause of other people?
However, I can't take the nba: it's all gangstah body contact one on one slam dunk
And baseball: even if the rox owners weren't jerks, the lack of salary cap is egregious. I'm with Slap being mroe a dodgers fan than anything, and their new ownership makes it less difficult to follow the team.

Frank McCourt is a good (Boston) guy.
He was part of that fiasco a few years ago to get the Patriots new stadium onto his waterfront property in South Boston. The residents there fought like hell to have it stopped.
When he didn't get in on the sale of the Red Sox, he went and bought the Dodgers.

The Yankees have been spared yet again.
Schilling has a dislocated tendon and will need surgery (eventually).
They will try to stabilize the tendon to get him through the postseason, but hey if something good doesn't happen for NY then it only makes sense that something bad has to happen to us.
Unbelievable.

Beltre has to be signed back, we lose him and we lose our chances next year. Also some MR help is needed along with another bat in the line-up.
