Nikki Finke in Los Angeles is reporting that actor Christopher Reeve is dead, according to sources close to the actor. He died suddenly Sunday. News of his death has not been reported publicly yet. His family will make an announcement Monday at the earliest. Reeve was just mentioned Friday in the second live presidential debate by John Kerry. Noting he was a friend of the paralysed Reeve, Kerry said he was in favor of further stem cell research because Reeve could walk again one day thanks to such science.... MORE...

As I posted on the Caminiti thread....what a shame. Prayers go out to his family. Hopefully he is in a better place now, one where he has full mobility and no kryptonite around to pester him. ;)
RIP Superman.

Wow...If any of you watch Smallville, Christopher Reeve had a nice role on an episode last year where he was revealing secrets of Krypton to the young Superman. That's too bad... :-[

I always wanted to be him. My real name is Chris, so that made him even cooler. That's really sad, but at least he's in a place where he can really fly.

This is the kind of thing that pisses me off...
Good man. Not great, but good. He tried, and held on to the edge of a cliff as long as he could. Very admirable...
And for the record, I'll take science over morality before morality over science....

Wow, this is somewhat of a shock. Guess it was a heart attack? Sad, indeed.
Look for his death to be bastardized shortly by politicians trying to make fodder.

Looks like you headed them off at the pass...
Superman is the October Suprise that Kerry's campaign needed. And like it or not, it's the way Reeves would have wanted it...
And with that, since this thread has now gone political (bound to happen, given Reeves' very public activism), I'll move it to the proper forum...

I agree completely with your second paragraph but not your last sentence. I'm sure you don't mean it as a blanket statement or it would be quite disturbing.

He died from complications related to an infected bedsore. Yuck.

He fought the good fight bravely. Remind me to pass on the polo match next weekend. I'll hang by the pool and look at thongs.

Wrong Reagan and wrong party. Ronald and Nancy disagreed about stem cell research and it was the Democrats that dragged Ron Reagan on stage during the Democratic National Convention.

While I disagreed with his politics (and most of Hollywood's), one couldn't help but admire the courage it took to fight to regain as much use of his body as possible. To accomplish what he was able to do was truly inspiring. He didn't let his paralysis beat him. Of course, few quads had the money to pursue some of the exotic treatments he received. Sad that his end finally came the way it did. Sad, too, for his family but maybe a relief as well. They showed extraordinary support for him and his efforts.

Well Kerry has dragged Reeves death into politics. What a sick sick human being Kerry is. The man is dead one day and here he is trying to capitalize on it.

That's for sure. I can't imagine how difficult it must have been for him to carry on the way he did. He had a lot of fight in him.

Come on, the gop turned the gipper's furneral into a referendum on his self-annointed successor, but nancy got pissed over the stem cell thing. And, it's absurd to make a bunch of frozen embryos that'll never be used outside of stem cell research into a political football that denies the possible benefit of medicine to people like Reeves and the gipper.
But, the dems have quotas in higher education, and both parties are hostage to their lunatic fringe.

The GOP celebrated Reagan's life and accomplishments, the left are celebrating the deaths of people like Christopher Reeves and Pat Tillman. I'd call that an important distinction when it comes to politically-motivated exploitations. I don't mind either of them that much, but for those who want to be outraged, keep that distinction in mind.
This post should have probably been a response to Taco rather than you, bendog.

The gop held a week long funeral for the guy and BushII tried to give a eulogy. Seriously, stop.
And, I'm not sure how the "left" is using Tillman's death, but I'll take a pass. Seriously, I don' think I want to know how you get there.

It's too bad it's a BS distinction. Nobody is celebrating Reeve's death. Nobody celebrated Tillman's death. It's incredible to me that you'd even try to advance such BS.
Just wow.
