If Bush had held spending in check this might have a pt. But, face it, taxes will go up just as they had to in Reagans second term. They may have to go up even more, ie the fed annoucement today.

The other side of the taxation coin is spending - and we all know where Bush stands on that. What we really need right now is massive cuts in unnecessary government programs. Unfortunately, Gore was the guy to do that. Kerry says he's a fiscal conservative in the Clinton mold now, but I'll have to see it to believe it. Bush spends money like a drunken sailor on shore leave.
