He has joined Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth in one of baseball's most elite fraternities.

I used to be a huge Bonds fan when he was a Pirate, but the Steriods have made me jaded. I hope he does not hit 56 more :(

Tonight, I was rootin for my Padres to beat the Giants and gain some ground behind our Ace Jake Peavy. After Barroid hit 700, I was so disgusted I switched the channel to HBO and enjoyed watching 61* for the rest of the evening.

I can understand Ruth, Bonds and Aaron in the 700 Club but how did that twerpy Pat Robertson make it in? Must have been a miracle.

Expect Baroid to develop more and more "warning track" power in the next few years.

Come on, people. Give the guy some credit. Even if he is on steroids, he still has to hit the ball. That's the hardest thing to do in all of sports.

I give you that, but I think steroid allegations are a small contributing reason on why fans in here despise Barroid.

I don't like Barroid because he is an a-hole. The biggest one since Ty Cobb. There have been plenty of a-hole superstars throughout baseball history such as Ted Williams and Willie Mays, but at least these guys showed some humility.

Henry Aaron is a good man and its too bad that what he endured to set 755 is going to take a back seat to a POS.

I can't believe all the Giant fans that are suckers when they cheer and root for this guy. Bonds doesn't give a damn about them and never will.

There is nothing to admire about this man, absolutely nothing and being a lifetime, loyal baseball fan it hurts to see two of the most prestigious records to be held by him in the near future.

I hope I live long enough to see another baseball player topple both records because I will be 100% behind his side.

Rick Reilly had some great quotes about Bonds recently in SI.

"Barry Bonds is three of my least favorite people."

"Barry Bonds seems to have no trouble adding bulk and muscle, especially in the forehead area."

"Bonds has 5 off the wall singles this year. Is it because the ball is already on it's way back to the infield by the time he gets to first? Or is it because Bonds wanders down the first base line like an octogenarian nun?" (this one I can't agree more with, watching Bonds dog it in the field and on the basepaths as he focuses solely on hitting home runs is pretty telling).

"Bonds could finish this season with more home runs than strike outs. And so what if umps won't ring him up unless it's down the freakin' zipper? And so what if he's allowed to come to the plate wearing Sir Lancelot's body armor and hang half over the plate?"

ESPN and Giants fans can let Bonds rest his nuts on their respective chins if they like, every home run he hits is meaningless to me.
