This book is published by Doubleday. And Kitty Kelly is not John O'Neill. Kelly has written biographies of Frank Sinatra, Nancy Reagan, Jackie O' and the British Royal family. Though they might have contained some juicy tidbits, I don't recall them being characterized as outright fabrications.

Kelley was the first to write about Ronald Reagan's date rape of a Hollywood starlet.

Her work is usually well researched. She relies on lots of interviews with people who know the subjects of her books.

Kelley also wrote a revealing book about Sinatra, who surely would have retaliated if any of the information was false.

What's fair is fair:

Wait for the fact-checking to come in and then see how this book stacks up against the SmearVets.

Another referece:

"According to the New York Times, there are 90 Bush relatives attending the convention this week in New York. From Doro Bush Koch to George P. Bush, the Bush clan gathers every four years to share "those little things handed from generation to generation -- the squared jaws and beaked mouths, the stiff aristocratic hug, the Republican nomination, the interchangeable last and middle names, the hostility to any tax, including syntax."

One thing they're probably talking about: Kitty Kelly's unflattering new book on the clan, The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty.

Update: A source tells Roger Simon says there are "at least five bombshells" contained in the Kitty Kelly book.

Now that is what I call Investigative Reporting, or harassment. Oh gosh, I thought the NYT was that desperate. This is so pathetic it's funny.

Slamming a family reunion.

You could do better if you looked in the Alps you dimwit.

If your snooping around the Family Reunion I find it hysterical. It's like attending the Godfather at Church.

It's called smart timing for one who wants to maximize book sales by capitalizing on election-year politics and the accompanying interest in one of the candidates.

rofl at Mock's indignation and efforts to discredit the author and/or link her to the Kerry campaign... Ha!

"According to the NY Times" Jesus H Christ, why don't you just say "According to the National Enquirer" It has about the same credibility.

Come on LABF, I thought you could do better than that! Man, the Kerry campaign must really be reeling from the Swiftvets for truth group. Kitty Kelly? Who the f**k is this rumor mongering whore to talk. Last I heard she was as high as a kite on cocaine charges and disowned by her own family and her own daughter won't speak to her.

Yeah, I want Bush to lose, but this book sounds so over-the-top that I'd never want to pick it up.

Hilarious! I love it. You Libs don't get it do you? Hookers in the White House? LOL! This absolutely proves my point. Liberals aren't talking about why their policy is what the nation needs, they aren't talking mapping out an optimistic view of where we're at and how they can make it better; they are talking about how Bush is the Antichrist. And the more over-the-top they get, the more it will hurt their cause.

Keep it coming.

Geez, nothing about him raping that underage spider monkey on the White House lawn?

This reminds me of the type of hateful allegations Clinton had thrown at him every day for eight years. I hate when factions of the party stoop as low as the Republicans.

I was gonna type this in response to Kaylore's post but you beat me to it Slap.

It's no different than what the conservatives tried to do to Clinton in the 90's

I hate this kind of crap. There's enough to bash Bush based on his 4 years as president. I lump this right in there with the Swiftliars.

And you are absolutely right. And did it work? No. The Republicans lost their huge gain in congress because they wouldn't focus on real issues. They also failed to realise that Americans respect the office of the President.

So really your response only proves my point that the book and incessant Bush bashing won't help their chances.

And since people on this board keep bringing up the swift boat thing in defense, I'm going to respond:

I DON'T CARE. I don't give a rats ass what Kerry or Bush did thirty years ago. Why should any of us? Should you be judged by how you acted thirty years ago? I didn't agree with the swift-boat thing and I didn't agree with the AWOL thing.

I've already posted on this but I say again, the past is the past. What do these candidates have for us right now, moving forward? Strong plans and strong leaders are what we need.

Kitty Kelley isn't working for either party, and doesn't represent either party. She only works for one thing: Kitty Kelley. When Sinatra died and was in the news, she came out with a book smearing his life. Free publicity. Now, with the political fervor so high, she comes out with a smear book to get some free publicity and make another wad of money. She's nothing more than a parasite. I hope she is completely ignored. Of course, Jerry Springer will probably throw "Kitty Kelley Week" sometime this month.

Actually, I have seen some of the same charges, i.e., the Poppy child molestation thing, mentioned in other sources.

At any rate, the book isn't even out yet.

I'm interested in seeing how the book's facts stand up in the cold light of day.

Another source which looks into Kelley's claims re: Junior's coke habit.

Bush did cocaine at Camp David?

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/allnews/tm_objectid=14609301&method=full&siteid=50143&headline=bush--took-cocaine-at-camp-david--name_page.html

Kitty Kelley says in her biography The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty,
that the Monkey first used coke at college in the mid-1960s. She quotes Kneel's ex-wife Sharon: "Bush did coke at Camp David when his father was President, and not just once either."

Other acquaintances allege that as a 26-year-old National Guard, Bush "liked to sneak out back for a joint or into the bathroom for a line of cocaine". Bush has admitted being an alcoholic but, asked during the 1999 election if he did drugs, he said: "I've told the American people that years ago I made some mistakes.

"I've learned from my mistakes and should I be fortunate enough to become president I will bring dignity and honour to the office."

Fact checking will be easy. Everybody who comes in and out of the White House is logged. All phone calls are logged. So, how is it that Miss Kitty is the only one to get the scoop on this? It is comical. No policy. This WILL come back to haunt Mr. Teresa Heinz-Kerry. But whatever.

So, in your mind, two wrongs don't make a right but they do make an even? Still, this is all very funny.
