How amusing. Kerry's first choice for veep was grandstanding? Kerry is the one that grandstanded, but he didn't have a real message, other than self promotion.

I dunno about that......why would we ignore the biggest thing to happen to this country since Pearl Harbor?
We can't just ignore the threat and hope it goes away, we have to take action and not sit back anymore. For 20 years we sat back and appeased terrorists, so we have to go after them now. 9/11 should never be forgotten, EVER
Seems to me just the facts were presented last night. Guilliani had a brilliant speech and McCain did a fine job of showing why we need Bush for 4 more years and not Mr. I'lldoanythingforbetterpollnumbers.

whatever dude
if you don't think terroists are going to try and kill us at any cost, then your mistaken. The gloves are off and they want our blood, maybe you don't fear them but I do.
China is a threat, but they are like Russia, they don't want total annhilation either, so it's a stalemate.
Problem with terroists are, they don't care about self annhilation, they want it.
Your just pissed that the repubs scored major points last night and Bush #'s keep growing and growing and Kerry is wallowing in the myre from 30 years ago.

This is so hilarious, it's hard for me to get my mind around the possibility that somebody could actually believe it. The GOP in congress constantly tore Clinton a new one every time he tried to fight back against terrorists, primarily due to the fact that they were much more concerned with what was in his pants. By "shaking the tree" (in Clarke's terms) his leadership leads to the unraveling of the Millenium Plot. He bombs one of OBL's businesses and guess who attacks him the longest and loudest? That's right; the GOP. Then he warns the incoming administration, in no uncertain terms, that their number one concern should be OBL. And what does the Bush admin. do with this info? They promptly fall asleep at the wheel until the crash on 9/11. "Appeased the terrorists?"
No wonder the GOP has the guts to stand up there and spew their brazen drivel - there are people out there who actually believe it!

please...lobbing a couple of cruise missles didn't do anything except piss them off more. He had no clear vision on what to do, he wanted to appease them. Remember Mogadishu? yeah that was a clear vision, as soon as it got tough..LEAVE.
Clinton did nothing in his 8 years to stop terroism.
This isn't about Clinton though, I said for the past 30 years, so that includes every major leader in the last 30 years, not just Clinton....nice try.
Like I said, the left is struggling now and it is pissing them off b/c they hate Bush so much.

Face the facts: The U.S. created Bin Laden and the Taliban. I'm not saying that it was necessarily a bad thing - at the time. Their U.S. sponsored fight against the Soviets helped bring down that regime - which was of huge benefit to the U.S. Too bad we didn't stay in Afghanistan after that to disarm them and rebuild Afghanistan at that time. Instead, we packed up and left - and left Afghanistan to the Taliban. Somalia was Bush 1's war, not Clinton's. Bush 1 sent the troops into Mogadishu. Clinton was left to clean it up. If firing cruise missiles is "appeasement", I need a new dictionary.
Face the facts: Bush II was warned about terrorism repeatedly - and sat on his hands. Cheney hadn't even convened his anti-terrorism task force by 9/11 - 9 months into Bush's so-called leadership.
I find it amusing that the GOP now paints 9/11 as Bush's "finest hour." History will regard it as a glaring example of his monumental failure of leadership.
It has nothing to do with hating Bush - I don't even know the man. It has a whole lot to do with hating his incompetence and blundering.

After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. sailors, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished

Whoa there Tonto. We didn't "create" anything. What we did was supply the rebels with stingers and training. We were very much more naive in that era, and it was two decades ago.
Their U.S. sponsored fight against the Soviets helped bring down that regime - which was of huge benefit to the U.S. Too bad we didn't stay in Afghanistan after that to disarm them and rebuild Afghanistan at that time.
Afganistan wasn't what brought down the Soviet Union. It's a total myth. It was the cost of trying to maintain their military while their infrastructure crumbled and people finally simply revolted.
How were we to know that Bin Laden would take his act on the road? Only when they started blowing up Buddah's and plotting did we realize that it was creating terrorist training camps. Just for your information, it was Saddam Hussein (gosh remember him?) that put a military presence in Saudi Arabia and set off Bin Laden's wrath. Being disowned for being a nutcase didn't help his mental state either.
Face the facts: Bush II was warned about terrorism repeatedly - and sat on his hands. Cheney hadn't even convened his anti-terrorism task force by 9/11 - 9 months into Bush's so-called leadership.
Wrong, actually, the Clinton Administration had the CIA so fouled up, the entire intelligence service was being evaluated for an overhaul. Yeah, we got caught with our pants down, but to say that things were not being extensively looked at is absurd.
I find it amusing that the GOP now paints 9/11 as Bush's "finest hour." History will regard it as a glaring example of his monumental failure of leadership.
This is rediculous. Noone has "painted" 9/11 as Bush's "finest hour". It's considered an attack by Fanatical Musslim Terrorists.
It has nothing to do with hating Bush - I don't even know the man. It has a whole lot to do with hating his incompetence and blundering.

Given that the guys who perpetrated the '93 attack are now rotting in prison (one of them is right here in Colorado - Florence Max) or dead, and the Saudis whacked many of the others, and Clinton was pursuing the embassy bombers (but didn't get much help from his intel service - or course, when they blow it on Clinton's watch it's Clinton's fault, and when they blow it on Bush's watch, it's their fault), and then turned over all relevant investigations on the Cole to Bush, who promptly shelved it - what's your point?

Today's GOP: The crooked path from Abraham Lincoln to George W. Bush
http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article_rss/were_not_in_lake_wobegon_anymore/
"The party of Lincoln and Liberty was transmogrified into the party of hairy-backed swamp developers and corporate shills, faith-based economists, fundamentalist bullies with Bibles, Christians of convenience, freelance racists, misanthropic frat boys, shrieking midgets of AM radio, tax cheats, nihilists in golf pants, brownshirts in pinstripes, sweatshop tycoons, hacks, fakirs, aggressive dorks, Lamborghini libertarians, people who believe Neil Armstrong's moonwalk was filmed in Roswell, New Mexico, little honkers out to diminish the rest of us, Newt's evil spawn and their Etch-A-Sketch president, a dull and rigid man suspicious of the free flow of information and of secular institutions, whose philosophy is a jumble of badly sutured body parts trying to walk.
Republicans: The No.1 reason the rest of the world thinks we're deaf, dumb and dangerous."
