if that is for real..it's a good thing it's not down here in OK. These dumb rednecks would've killed it already.
I'd really be fascinated to know what exactly it is...just looks like a dog with a bad case of mange to me.

I don't think it would be a hyenia or even a wolf
It would've eaten those cats already.

The Baltimore news headlines look like something out of X-Files these days. Just a few examples:
"Police Find Woman's Body Set Ablaze In Park"
"Dundalk Man Gets Two Life Terms In Prostitute Slayings"
"Man Attacked By Dogs While Walking In Alley"
"Family, Police Search For Missing Baltimore Co. Woman"
"Prominent Architect, Wife Commit Suicide"
"Man Hit By Police Car Responding To Burglary"
"Officials Find Differing Strains Of Salmonella In Tomatoes"
"Man Arrested For Allegedly Shooting Bus Driver"
"FBI Agents Comb Through Fort Detrick" (home to the Army’s biological warfare program)
"Judge Calls Convicted Strangler 'Evil, Violent'"

I've gotta go with shack on this one. It looks like it's a dog with a bad case of the mange. And you're correct shack. It would have died in a matter of minutes in Oklahoma. Hell I would have plugged it for eating the cat food. Some of that stuff is getting to be outragous. Oh, nvm....I don't have a cat. And my dog would have torn this little bitch up if it touched any of his Wal-mart brand "ole roy" dogfood.

no way thats an ordinary dog.
not even close.
look at the hind legs, and the "mane" atop its head.
also, notice the tail and snout.
what it actually looks like is a dog mixed with a HORSE.
watch the video again, and tell me if you agree.

Odd story really... I picked up a young hitch-hiker on my way out on a backpacking trip. He was a kid from the Seattle area who sold his truck and decided to hitch down the coast, and was on his way back...
We got to talking about music, and after talking about music tastes, he turned me on to Modest Mouse. It was a great tip, and I've been listening to "Good News For People Who Like Bad News" since May.

What a cool way to find out about a band. Well, if you get the chance you should definitely listen to some of their older albums:
1. this is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about
2. lonesome crowded west
3. everywhere and his nasty parlor tricks
These are the 3 I would reccomend. Pick up all their albums if you can, but if I had to suggest a few, these would be it.

It looks like a hyena that probably was kept captive since a pup and then turned loose in poor condition. There is a big underground exotic pet trade, so it is not out of the realm of reason. Probably grew up being fed, so it never had to hunt for food, thus explaining why it does not kill the local pets. Just my guess.

What is the "thing" that makes people want to keep animals like that? I mean a dog or cat can pretty much wander about with their kind, but that poor beast would have been hidden. It seems cruel at best cause a person would have to go out an look and buy something like that, so it's not like they were just giving some animal that couldn't make it in the wild a home.
Even so, I'd think a hyena would kill cats and stuff.

yeah, OT, but my kid got this cat, and despite the cat being known to like dogs, I had my worries with Ben, cause he's been treeing cats for 11 years, but he's ok with it. He's learned that that cat is not to chase. I was impressed.
My neighbor who is fortunately moving got this lab. The guy never trained it to be an indoor dog and the beast has lived in the back yard for ... 6 years. My idiot neighbor has a friend who drops off this nasty bitch boxer (first mean boxer I ever met) every morning. Twice it's gotten old Ben, and the last time I had the boxer by its damn neck, and I prolly should've cracked it. The poor crazy lab is even starting to bark at me now. And I've been petting him over the fence since a pup. Little girl dog used to pet him and he'd lick her hands through the fence. I don't like her near him anymore. Either of these animals would kill the cat in a heartbeat, and honestly the cat is a pleasant animal ... he doesn't kill the salamander on the porch, though he did kill a blue jay ... but I was considering shotgunning it myself, so who's to blame him.
Anyway my idiot neighbor got married a month ago to a woman with a little girl, and Mrs Idiot is now pregnant, so they're moving closer to her mom, which is good cause the little girl basically lives at grandma's and now grandma can raise the second kid. One of those dogs would kill a baby

I might be mistaken, but I think hyenas are mainly scavengers, so if there is food readily available, it probably wouldn't attack any other predatory animals (like cats and dogs).

Baby Md. Mystery Animal Caught, Identified
POSTED: 9:45 pm EDT August 1, 2004
GLYNDON, Md. -- The mystery may be over as one of the creatures roaming through central Maryland was finally captured on Saturday.
According to the veterinarians at Falls Road Animal Hospital in Baltimore, the animal was a male red fox. However, Dr. Michael Herko -- a vet at the animal hospital -- and the man who caught the fox say it is not the mysterious creature videotaped in July, but a relative.
Jay Wroe set a trap in his back yard after videotaping an animal that was roaming around. It was an animal he could not immediately identify.
The humane trap paid off on Saturday when Wroe went out to check the cage and saw from a distance that he had caught something.
"This one is definitely the baby to the mother because the one I filmed was obviously bigger than this thing," Wroe said.
Animal control officers took the creature to the Falls Road Animal Hospital. They determined it was a fox with sarcoptic mange.
"It is a skin parasite that looks -- under the microscope -- like spiders," said Dr. Herko. "One of the signs of the disease is hair loss and you've seen he's lost a good portion of its hair -- a good 70 percent."
Wroe is hoping that since he's caught the baby that the mother is not far behind.
Animal control has custody of the fox and plans to rehabilitate the animal to release back into the wild.
