Anyone ever watch this show when it rivalled SNL back in the early 80's??

It's now coming out on DVD, IMO It was 10X better .....whatta cast! What a great bunch of skits.....

There's gotta be some SCTV fans out there..c'mon...let's here it for Bobby Bittman, Johnny LaRue and the almighty Count Floyd of "Monster Chiller Horror Theatre" "BBBbbbbaaaaaarrrrrroooooooooooo!!!!!" Ha!

Count floyd was hilarious. I only saw him when he was on the Ed Grimley cartoon show. Scarryy!! By the way didn't Martin Short used to be on SCTV?

The cast was only rivalled by the first seasons of SNL IMO...check out this line up:

John Candy
Joe Flaherty
Eugene Levy
Martin Short
Catherine O'Hara
Andrea Martin
Rick Moranis
Dave Thomas
Harold Ramis

Who could ever forget The McKenzie Bros.? The Fishin' Musician with his great selection of underground musical guests like The Boomtown Rats, The Tubes and Dr. John? The show kicked ass on so many levels...it's one DVD set I will purchase in it's entirity.

This is truly awesome! It's about time they started putting good TV on DVD instead of crap like "Friends" and "Buffy!"

It was the best show on TV at the time...totally and completly kicked the snot out of SNL....NBC does not like to see it's institutions threatened though and I think that played a large part in it's demise..

No matter though, because what we're treated with now on DVD is all time classic stuff that (unlike a large part of the SNL cannon) still holds up well today...if you knew about them then, buy it now....if you were too young the first time thru, rent it and then buy it...yeah, it came from Canada via Chicago (and not equalled IMO until The Kids In The Hall or maybe Red Green..Canadian TV has always been great), but it kicked ass.

Be smart, do yourself a favor and get this ASAP.
