i've been trying to understand the trump enigma since about february... and i have enough humility to admit that this sometimes even means rationalizing.

i want to address to specific points in trump's long-awaited "tax plan," but before that:

it will fall on deaf ears (especially on this message board), but years from now when the flames die down one will be able to make a VERY compelling argument that trump was one of the most clever politicians in our country's short history. it's hard to discuss, however, because said argument is contingent on an end result

once more: deaf ears... but let me at least give you the broad premise of this line of observation which, to my knowledge, has not been speculated on by any mainstream media i'm aware of. and only someone like trump could have ever made the idea even remotely plausible... that is *drum roll* the application of aggressive risk assessment--characteristic of hyper-successful entrepreneurs--to the political sphere (and at the highest level possible no less)

k, first item:

THE ESTATE TAX
lol good riddance! could not be happier :):):)!! and before all the shills and their little alt-accounts start swarming this thing... let's give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume you're simply miserable, lonely and have no friends (or life). unless your aim is simply a display of power and intimidation, this should be a non-issue... even for you. the amount of damage this thing did to the middle class is not even close to being correlative to the aggregate tax revenue it created. the only losers here are lawyers (love those guys) and estate planners. boohoo.

second item:

INCOME TAX

this is the one that hurts my feelings :(

so as not to derail my own thread, i won't even open this can of worms (tho the concept and argument are fairly simple and straightforward).

i'm more concerned with trump's response to it ("it," of course, meaning his OWN ****ING TAX PLAN)

--------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------

TRUMP LIES

fkn trump... lol trump PERSONALLY went off on obama on multiple occasions criticizing his fake unemployment figures (and he was right). and now that trump is president, he does the EXACT. ****ING. SAME. THING.

similarly, he criticized obama for periodically implying credit on his part for "positive" (not really tho) market phenomena he actually had little to do with. and, once again, trump does the EXACT. ****ING. SAME. THING.

tho to be fair to both obama and trump, they both have/had an obligation to the second lie. i .e., the sheer power of their office has/had the power to--in a single sentence--supplant the "invisible hand"

--------------------------------------------------------------
*/end segue*
--------------------------------------------------------------

RE: INCOME TAX

why in the world of **** would trump literally go out of his way to sit there and deliberately lie (it HAS to be deliberate... right??) and say that this would not benefit him personally. lol WHY!!??!!

wtf is his endgame? and why??

this will INFURIATE the GOP (and it should) because he did something they would all generally agree with only to then turn around and deliberately create self-inflicted controversy. why??

i'm sorry, but i refuse to believe trump's just a fkn moron... it's simply impossible. it really is. morons don't get this far. morons don't build skyscapers. and morons don't defeat presidential hopefuls as powerful as hillary clinton.

i'm getting this eerie feeling...

either trump's a literal political GENIUS... or something is dreadfully wrong...

i...

The Republicans have been saying they want to close tax loop holes for the rich for a very very very long time. It's been a lie the entire time. Trump is no different. If his tax plan doesn't provide cuts for the wealthiest Americans and raise taxes on the middle class and the poor, the Republican House and Senate will never pass it.

Default TRUMP: WHO THE **** IS HE?? ?? ?? ?? ??

If you're only just now getting around to asking that question, i.e., didn't bother to educate yourself prior to the election, then you're part of the problem.

Watch: America's Mobster President—New Evidence in Dutch Documentary of Trump's International Money Laundering Circles

The follow-the-money film reveals connections between Trump associates and an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud.

President Trump’s Manhattan properties and business partners, including former Soviet Union-connected oligarchs, were involved in a larger international money-laundering scheme involving upward of $1 billion, according to Dutch filmmakers whose third installment in an investigative series aired on public TV in Holland Wednesday.

“We wanted to know in depth how money was transferred from Kazakhstan to the United States and how this could relate to Donald Trump, the Trump Organization and Trump’s real estate,” said Sander Rietveld, director of The Dubious Friends of Donald Trump, Part III: The Multibillion-Dollar Fraud (https://zembla.bnnvara.nl/nieuws/the-controversial-friends-of-donald-trump-part-iii-the-billion-dollar-fraud), broadcast on Zembla, a program of the VARA Broadcasting Association.

The documentary was produced based on a three-month collaboration (https://www.occrp.org/en/investigations/7046-documentary-explores-dodgy-financial-ties-of-trump-associate) between Zembla, The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP (https://www.occrp.org/en))—known for the Panama Papers (https://www.occrp.org/en/panamapapers/), and McClatchy (https://www.mcclatchydc.com/) newspaper's Washington bureau (including Kevin Hall, who won a Pulitzer Prize for the Panama papers).

“We investigated hundreds of company records, court documents in the U.S., Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Belize, etc., and interviewed dozens of sources,” he said. “The result is a follow-the-money documentary revealing the connections between several people in Trump’s orbit and an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud. Also the pivotal role of the Netherlands as an offshore haven gets attention. With Dutch help, Kazakh oligarchs allegedly were able to divert and launder huge amounts of money.”

One of the international financiers profiled went to court in the Netherlands on Tuesday to stop the documentary from airing on public TV, but lost, Rietveld said: “Kazakh multimillion[aire] businessman-oligarch Ilyas Khrapunov tried to block this broadcast in court yesterday (Monday). Judge turned down his request and allowed airing documentary.”

With Tillerson having called Trump a moron i think we can rule out the political genius theory.

Jesus right-wingers are stupid. This thread is a perfect example.

are you just upset at my comments on the estate tax, or are you saying the theoretical idea is stupid?

also how does my position on the estate tax--which is a single issue--make me a "right-winger"

you don't see the problem with calling everyone who isn't ideologically identical (EDIT: to you) a right-winger... correct?

The president of this country said he could shoot someone on the street and people would vote for him, he was right.

this country celebrates underachievement and dumb. Trump is only the living example of how dumb most of the country truly is.

American exceptionalism? More like on the spectrum.

A bold tax policy? Flat tax in any income, and the federal budget has to be reconciled dollar for dollar with taxation every fiscal year. If the government spend 5, tax payers pony up 5. This cutting taxes with the "potential" of economic growth is unacceptable.

agreed (mostly)

k, we're definitely getting off topic here, but i think you touched on two things in that last paragraph

i do support a flat tax 'in theory' and think it's definitely something we should work towards. but where it's simply futile to cut taxes without addressing spending, in the aggregate (which i think it what you're saying - please correct me if i'm wrong), abruptly implementing a flat tax across the board would wipe out the middle class.

if i were king for a day i would implement a one-fell-swoop flat tax for exactly two weeks, with the intention to let the entire country actually experience what the top 20% experiences. a few years ago that top 20% payed 85% of our income tax, and i'm sure that percentage has since increased.

then i'd follow it up with a national address explaining the exorbitant amounts of capital that has and continues to be wasted on even maintaining that 85% figure. capital that otherwise could be spent on wage/benefit increases, dividends, investment, and creating jobs.

but i think most of you are missing entire the point of this thread

trump.

entertainer.

real estate mogul.

business magnate.

...AGGRESSIVE RISK ASSESSMENT!!!

aggressive risk assessment being correlative to his populist banter and rise to political power...

(lol because i'm not a fkn psychopath) i can sincerely empathize with the progressive inclination to seize the opportunity to paint your ideological opponents in a single brushstroke given the tantalizing (understatement) toolkit trump served up on a silver platter. but if you can take off the blinders for just one second...

something's weird...
