I had a cowboys fan, backed up by a chiefs fan, confront me today to let me know that Miller is "the dirtiest player of all time." I couldn't stop laughing, but have you guys/gals ever heard this before?

Please provide evidence to prove these guys correct [/orange colored glasses].

Yes, Chiefs fans have called Von the dirtiest of all time since he pushed down Alice Smith after he was called for jumping the count and being offside. Just like a schoolyard bully. I say it is time for Alice to realize this is football and grow a set.

Usually the QB he's sacking are dirtier after they get up, and he has Old Spice.

In all honesty, I don't see how he is dirty, no player has ever been seriously hurt by Miller that I know of, and he doesn't get many Personal Fouls.

Von isn't dirty at all. Sounds like something said by a teenager. Rodney Harrison used to be the dirtiest player in the league. Suh took over the role. James Harrison is definitely up there. Von wouldn't even be in the top twenty five.

The only people I've ever heard this from is Chief fans. And they reference this hit:

http://giant.gfycat.com/SinfulAlarmingBluegill.gif

It's not even that bad! It is a late hit - to Smith's midsection with Von's shoulder. It's not like he spears his knee.

My guess is it was a normal Chiefs fan whose friend either rooted for the Chiefs, or was a Cowboys fan who was sour grapes about them getting their trash handed to them by us.

I have two Cowboy fans and I have never heard them say Von's dirty. Nor have I heard Von listed as a dirty player. Usually it's guys like Suh, James Harrison or like Cortland Finnegan.

Miller isn't even the dirtiest player on our team. That honor goes to Talib.

The first year or two in the League he was hitting QBs late and remarkably was getting called very little for it. He is always pushing the envelope and I like that. Screw the crybabies.

I think the announcers in the game highlighted a play where Von could easily have got away with a legal hit in the QB but he pulled up to avoid it - think the play was blown dead or something, can't remember, but it was late in the game and they commended him for his sportsmanship.

I suppose sour grapes from the Cowboys is understandable, they just got humiliated. I suppose for the chiefs must be butthurt too after "winning the offseason" like they always do then beating the Pats they are a little put out to discover they might have a fight on their hands for the division title after all.

Both sets of fans wanted to believe the offseason narrative that we are going to suck this season, oh dear sucks for them that we might actually be good....

Von:

Makes opposing OL look like snails
Sheds blocks (including holds)
Adds excitement to every game while he makes opposing QBs scramble like little girls
Dances better than you do
Maybe most importantly, converts the "MVP" "Superman" Super Bowl QB into a sulking adolescent

Are you guys equating penalties to dirty play? I am not. Unless you're talking about unsportsmanlike conduct or unnecessary roughness penalties, there's nothing "dirty" about jumping offsides.

Just for argument, I looked up Von's Penalties from 2016.

FWIW, Von Miller was flagged for 7 penalties last season:

Defensive Offside (4), Neutral Zone Infraction (2), Defensive Holding (1)

Those are the kinds of penalties you'll see from a pass rusher, though you usually see a roughing the passer penalty in there, and he was not flagged once.

Not dirty.

The most penalized player in the league last year was Josh Norman with 14:

Illegal Use of Hands (6), Defensive Offside (3), Defensive Pass Interference (3), Defensive Holding (2), Unsportsmanlike Conduct (2), Unnecessary Roughness (2), Delay of Game (1)

http://www.nflpenalties.com/all-players.php?year=2016

At 7 penalties, Miller is the sixtieth most penalized player.

Just for fun I looked up penalty yards. Surprisingly, it isn't Norman, it's Robert Alford with 132 penalty yards on 11 penalties. DB's are going to be on this list because PI is a spot foul.

Von is gave 35 yards up to penalties which ranks him 229th. There are backups who had more penalties than he did.

Just for argument sake, as a team we were tenth in unsportsmanlike conduct penalties (table on the left) and twentieth in the league at unnecessary roughness penalties (right table.)

There is no evidence to support this claim. It's pure butt hurt.

That's what started all of this. They said it was funny that he was the one complaining since he is the "dirty" one.

I'm glad to hear I wasn't sticking my head in the orange and blue sand and completely missing something. I don't think Von is dirty at all, but I guess when you're the best at your job other fans have to try and throw something to see if it sticks.
